Chapter 1: A New Beginning
Note:(This book has no male protagonist, only females, and is a same-s*x romance.)
Luo Ling slowly woke up on a hospital bed, the air filled with the smell of disinfectant and the low hum of machines. Her consciousness gradually became clearer, and memories surged like a tidal wave—she remembered driving her newly purchased RS7, taking the popular celebrity Lu Yifei, whom she had finally managed to catch, on a date. At an intersection, they were violently hit by a fully loaded truck running a red light. Then came a chaotic scene of screaming, followed by endless darkness.
“Am I dead?“ She muttered to herself, though her heart still faintly beat in her chest.“I just got my girlfriend, and now I'm going to die without even getting to do anything... Damn it, I hate this. The two-dimensional bus shouldn't have picked me up!“ Suddenly, a blinding light surrounded her, her vision blurred, and a deep, mysterious voice echoed in her ears.
“You have a new opportunity, Luo Ling. Are you ready to embrace your new world?“
“What the hell? Did I crash into a hallucination? How can someone be speaking in my head?“ Luo Ling thought, confused.
As the light faded, Luo Ling found herself lying in a strange forest. Tall ancient trees and peculiar plants surrounded her, and she was dressed in a small suit.
Her body felt unusually light, and energy seemed to flow within her.
She tried to stand up and was shocked to find that all the injuries from her car accident had healed, and she felt healthier than ever. She felt so strong, she could probably take down a bull.
“Where am I?“ She looked around, trying to find any familiar landmarks. There were no skyscrapers, no roads, no people—everything here was so unfamiliar.
The sky had a slight purple tint, and the air had a refreshing quality to it, far more pleasant than the smog she was used to breathing in the city.
As Luo Ling tried to comprehend where she was, a beam of light suddenly appeared in the sky.
Within the light, a figure slowly descended, as if stepping down from the clouds of the distant horizon.
Luo Ling looked up, her pupils narrowing slightly.
The figure was a woman dressed in a blue robe, the edges of which were intricately embroidered with delicate cloud patterns that gently fluttered with her movements.
Her long hair cascaded down like a waterfall, shimmering with a faint glow, as if every strand of her hair carried a trace of spiritual energy.
Her features were graceful, with an innate aura of authority and tranquility between her brows. Her eyes resembled stars in the night sky—deep, mysterious, and captivating.
When she landed, there was no sound, as though the ground beneath her feet was not solid earth, but the very clouds themselves.
The surrounding air seemed to grow fresher with her arrival, and a faint, fragrant aroma filled the atmosphere—a unique scent that was the essence of her own ethereal presence.
Luo Ling could only think of two words to describe the woman: immortal fairy. She was even more beautiful than his former girlfriend, but the real question was how she descended from the sky. This defied all logic—where's Newton when you need him?
Just as Luo Ling was about to ask her, the fairy suddenly lunged forward and thrust a sword towards him.
In a panic, Luo Ling shouted,“Fairy, please stop! I’m a good citizen!”
The fairy’s sword halted at Luo Ling’s throat. Then, she spoke, her voice as clear and flowing as a spring, yet carrying an undeniable authority,“Who are you? How did you end up here?“
Although she sensed no spiritual energy from the person before her, Yun Ni did not lower her sword that was pressed against Luo Ling's throat.
Luo Ling swallowed nervously, attempting to find the right words. But in the end, all he managed to say was a simple response:“I... My name is Luo Ling. I... I don’t know how I ended up here. I just remember hearing a voice telling me to welcome a new world, and then there was a white light, and I found myself here.“
Luo Ling was taken aback. She could hardly believe her ears. The shocks she had received today were overwhelming, and she couldn’t process everything all at once, but the reality before her left her with no choice but to accept it.
“Someone used a talisman to transport you here? This is the Yunwu Forest. I don't know how you ended up here, and your attire doesn’t seem like someone from this world,“ the woman said.
Luo Ling was stunned, unable to fully grasp the situation. After everything she had been through today, she felt as though she were in a dream. Yet, the present reality was undeniable.
“What... what should I do?“ she asked, her voice trembling with uncertainty.
The woman smiled slightly, lowered her spiritual sword, and extended her hand toward Luo Ling.“My name is Yun Ni, an elder of the Lingxiao Sect. Since you’re here, you might as well settle in. Let me teach you how to survive in this world. First, you need to understand that everything here is governed by spiritual power. How about you come with me to the Lingxiao Sect, and I’ll help assess your potential?“
Luo Ling hesitated for a moment as she looked at Yun Ni’s outstretched hand, but soon she grasped it.
With a wave of her spiritual energy, Yun Ni gently lifted Luo Ling off the ground and began flying toward the outer edge of Yunwu Forest.
Although Luo Ling had ridden in helicopters before, those had safety measures in place, and her feet were securely on something solid. This time, however, she was floating freely in the air. Her legs felt weak, and despite her desire to save face, she didn’t dare to mention it to Yun Ni.
As they flew over the dense forest, Luo Ling’s heart raced. She was dragged through the air at high speed, passing through gaps between towering peaks. The breathtaking view in front of her made her stop breathing for a moment.
Before her stood a massive mountain gate, soaring high into the clouds as though it pierced the very sky. On either side of the gate, endless mountain peaks stretched into the distance. These peaks formed a natural barrier, surrounding the Lingxiao Sect and creating a formidable defense.
Above the mountain gate hung a massive plaque, on which were inscribed the three powerful characters:“Lingxiao Sect.“
The characters were strong and forceful, as if each stroke contained boundless spiritual energy, radiating a mysterious and solemn power. Surrounding the plaque were intricate carvings of various flying birds and walking beasts, each one lifelike and seemingly on the verge of springing to life.
The square in front of the gate was wide and level, paved with an unknown type of white jade stone. On its surface, faint traces of spiritual energy could be seen flowing.
On either side of the square, two colossal stone sculptures stood. Each sculpture was unique in form—one shaped like a dragon, the other like a phoenix. They were so realistic that they seemed to breathe with life, exuding a majestic and overwhelming presence.
Luo Ling gazed upwards, noticing that a thin layer of mist seemed to swirl around the top of the mountain gate, giving the entire scene an ethereal, otherworldly aura.
Beyond the gate, the outline of a sprawling complex could be seen in the distance—layered and arranged in an orderly yet intricate manner. Each building emanated its own distinct spiritual glow, collectively forming a natural and harmonious picture of spiritual energy.
Cloudy mist led Luo Ling through the mountain gate, ascending a wide stone staircase.
As they walked, the surroundings gradually opened up, and the spiritual energy in the air became more concentrated. Luo Ling felt a warm current flowing within her body, as if she were absorbing the abundant spiritual energy from the environment.
“This is Lingxiao Sect, one of the most powerful sects on the Lingyuan Continent,” Cloudy Mist explained as they walked.“The disciples here are all exceptionally gifted. If you choose to cultivate here, you will have access to an abundance of knowledge and resources.”
Luo Ling was deeply shaken by the grand aura surrounding them. The sense of awe she felt was indescribable.
She had never seen such a magnificent sight before. Every inch of land here seemed to be filled with spiritual energy and the heavy weight of history. To her, Lingxiao Sect was not just a sect; it felt more like an independent realm of immortals.
Then, Cloudy Mist spoke again,“Stop dawdling. Follow me to the Spirit Testing Hall to see what your talent and potential are.”
Cloudy Mist led Luo Ling to a solemn hall. The plaque on the grand entrance was engraved with the words“Spirit Testing Hall” in gilded characters. Inside, several women dressed in robes of various colors were moving about, seemingly busy with something.
Cloudy Mist guided Luo Ling to the center of the hall and softly spoke to an elderly woman with white hair,“Elder Bing, this is someone I found in the Cloudy Mist Forest. She claims she doesn’t know how she ended up here, and she doesn’t seem like someone from our world. However, I sense extraordinary potential in her, so I brought her back for you to test.”
