“Laura,” Andy shouted out as he strode in the front door, letting it swing shut behind him. He took the stairs two at a time and was halfway up when Jules called out, “Andy, she’s gone.” Jules was staring up at him in a dark brown house dress and white apron. Her large, round face appeared distressed in a way Andy had not seen before. She wasn’t even wringing her hands, and that was something she did often when something upset her.
