Astria was in a hurry to leave, or else she would have definitely settled accounts with her one night stand. She hurriedly got out of the cab and entered the gated villa community. It was one of the most famous communities of the Southern Pack. It was occupied by the elites in various industries and one of those villas was where she lived for three years after marriage with her husband Duncan.
Today she was here for the last time.
With her head held up and heels clicking, she entered the villa that was her home up until yesterday.
"What should we name our baby?" A sickly sweet female voice disrupted all the peace Astria managed to accumulate during the day.
Something even more nauseating than that female voice was the voice that answered her.
"Let's see if it's a boy or girl. We can't think of anything yet. What if we change our mind when they are born? There is a lot of time."
The two voices belonged to none other than her ex-husband Duncan and his mate Lavender. Astria could physically feel a nerve about to burst in her head. She hated those people to the core.
Not only for the fact that Duncan brought his mate. As his mate, of course, Lavender would want to be with him. However, the fact that made Astria disgusted was that Lavender's identity didn't stop there.
She was also Astria's half cousin sister. It was a complicated relationship that was a stain on her family.
Lavender was the product of her aunt's (father's sister) drunken mistake that was hidden from the family until a month ago. A month ago she was brought back to the southern pack after her father who was taking care of her abandoned her.
Lavender's mother was a strict woman and didn't want to bring her back to be a stain on the family, but everyone else felt pity for the young girl who was abandoned by her father and had no one to take care of. And she was born from the same blood in the family after all. It made them guilty of abandoning her.
Eventually, aunt Laura brought her back and she conveniently sat in the seat of being the youngest in the family.
Lavender entered the gates of Astria's house and took over the place of the youngest daughter with her crocodile tears and sad backstory. Then she came out as Duncan's mate and everything Astria owned suddenly became hers.
It seemed like Lavender was born to steal everything from her. How could Astria not hate her?
Her hate towards Duncan and Lavender was justified.
With heavy steps and heels digging into the marble floor that she personally selected for their home, Astria strode into the house.
"Astria, you're back..." Lavender sat up quickly, leaving Duncan's warm embrace.
She pretended as if Astria's arrival brought some sort of pain to her. The act of being aggreived was so cringed that Astria could keep her eyes from rolling all the way back.
Duncan immediately reacted upon seeing the way Astria rolled her eyes at his mate.
"Behave yourself Astria!" Duncan sternly scolded her.
Astria was disgusted enough to barf up her non existent meal. She didn't want to talk to him if necessary. Unfortunately, she still had to clear up some things.
"How I behave is none of your concern." Astria walked in and raised an eyebrow at the pair.
Until yesterday she was still willowing deeply at her luck and how everything crumbled apart within the span of a month. It was still the worst nightmare of hers that could only be forgotten by drowning it in alcohol. Yet now, she didn't feel nearly as bad compared to that. Maybe because she saw the possibilities out there in the world that opened up its doors for her. There were better men out there.
Hence now she didn't have that remorse, yes she regretted wasting the best years of her life on a useless scum like Duncan and the defeat of being beaten down by Lavender was still a fresh wound on her back, but it wasn't something permanent.
"If it's none of my concern then what are you here for?" Duncan sneered, showing his teeth in anger.
Lavender gently held Duncan's hand to comfort him. "Don't be angry at Astria. It's all because of me. She must have been too sad and spent the night outside. But Astria, where did you go? We called your father and he said you didn't go back home either... Did you spend the night at a hotel?"
The hints in her tone and choice of words were obvious. Duncan's face grew bitter. He stood up and grabbed Astria's scarf. The scarf was tied loosely around the blouse.
The knot on the scarf came apart under the harsh grab of Duncan's hand. Under the unbuttoned collar of Astria's blouse were the marks left behind by that man.
Duncan's eyes widened and the livid anger behind his pupils was evident. He pulled away the scarf from her neck and pulled her collar. The love marks were littered all over the base of her neck and disappeared deep into the plunge of the blouse.
"You slut! Did you sleep around as soon as you got a divorce?! Or was it that you were sleeping around even when we were in a legal relationship?! You couldn't keep your legs closed long enough, huh?!"
The derogatory terms he called her were new to Astria's ears. Up until he found Lavender, Duncan was distant, but he never called Astria those things.
It was a fact that Astria was as loyal as one could possibly be. In the relationship between them, Astria gave the most, but the moment this man had the opportunity to go off on her, he didn't think twice before doing so.
Astria held his wrist that was grabbing her collar and pulled it away. The strength in her arm shocked Duncan.
"Yes," Astria smiled which added oil to the fire, "I had the best night of my life. The man I slept with for one night was more than anything you could ever be in the past five years."
"Aren't you ashamed, Astria? How can you be so shameless?" Lavender trembled in shock.
"Aren't you asking the wrong person?" Astria tilted her head to take a look at Lavender, "Haven't you patent that term for yourself? If anyone has to be ashamed, isn't it you two cheaters?"
Duncan raised his hand, and his slap came unannounced. Astria was hit square in the cheek and her head tilted sideways. Hair ascrew out of its style.
"I should have known what kind of a person you are!" Duncan shouted lies as if they'd become true. "What is wrong with me being with my mate?! Isn't it the law of nature to be with the one who is your soulmate? What I did is not wrong, but what you did is unforgivable!"
