A regular, family orientated, girl, Ava, from a mundane modern world whose life is turned upside down when she wakes to find herself in another world full of mythical creatures and magic. In a cruel, sexist, unforgiving world she creates a simplistic lifestyle for herself as a kitchen maid keeping herself covered from head to toe. She spread ugly rumours about herself to void off unwanted attention. The only thing she wants is to find her way home to her family but doesn’t know where to begin even after 10 months.

One night at a royal dinner, she’s serving wine, when all the sudden her body goes into heat sending all the Alphas in the room into a drunk lustful haze. Little does she know that everything she believed herself to be is a lie.

The Alpha King of All Alpha’s, Axel has everything except his mate, not that he, particularly cares. Believing woman is a fragile and gentle creature, not meant to be part of the world of men. Thinking that his mate should be obedient and submissive, will come to learn that his mate is anything but. Struggling to comprehend that she might be his equal, going against what he and society would believe, fights an internal battle between his growing love for her and his possessive tendency.

“Your mine!” He licked my neck snapping me back into reality. “You will respect me.” He said coldly. For a moment I felt my heart drop he was so intimidating, but I continued to glare and stand my ground.

“Then earn it.” I challenged.

“I am King of ALL Alphas, and I will be RESPECTED.” He said in a low threatening tone.

“Make me.” I smirked. “I’d like to see you try.” I flipped my hair and walked out.

Ch.1: The Kitchen Maid
Chapter 1- Ava’s POV: “My mom said she’s as ugly as an ogre under those clothes. She has warts oozing out of her forehead and really gross rashes all over her cheeks.” One of the scruffy kitchen boys whispered to the other children. “That’s why her face is always covered.” Another explains. “I heard she has scars all over.” Says the little girl with braids. “If you look into her eyes, she has golden- greenish eyes, so it has to be true.” One of the kids says as if it's obvious. “Hush! She might hear us and eat us for breakfast.” One of the kids says seriously. Normally, I would just ignore them, hiding in the hallway trying to get a peek at me, the so-called ogre, but I have a bit of a dark sense of humor. “Kids for breakfast. That sounds scrumptious.” I said loud enough for them to hear. I rushed over to the hallway to where the kids were. “Boo!” “Aaahhhh!!!!!” The kids ran off screaming in terror while I rolled over on the floor clinging to my stomach as I burst into laughter. I was laughing so hard, tears came. “Pshhh…,” It’s rude to make things up about people even if I started the rumor myself. Kids got what they deserved for talking s**t behind my back. Just thinking about their wide-eyed expressions makes me smirk. I stacked the wooden dishes and then raised scalding hot water over them. One by one, I wiped the dishes dry as I hummed a song my mom used to sing me while I continued to clean the dishes. It was my way of remembering home and the loved ones I lost. I had a secret that I kept hidden. I’m not humble, but I’m also not blind. I was no ogre and I was lost in a world that I appeared in 10 months ago. The life and world I knew was stripped away from me in mere seconds. Not knowing where I was or how to get back home, I decided to settle in my new life until the day I could escape. Not to brag, but I think I adapted rather quickly to something so traumatic. What’s that saying…; “sink or swim.”“Ow!” I burnt myself, picking up another bucket of hot water. My first couple of days were hard, and I got to see how badly women were treated. I kept my true appearance hidden, covering my entire face and body with cloth; only revealing my fingertips and eyes. I was not about to fall victim to such an unappealing, outdated way of thinking by anyone, even if it seemed to be an entirely different world and century than where I was from, so I spread the rumors of how hideous I was. Women were looked down on and used for either being a baby reproductive machine or a maid in the kitchen. I made it a point to be one of the women working in the kitchen. I did think about pretending to be a man, but… it’s not easy to flatten your chest. I ended up being a loner and finding work at the castle of New Moon helping with meals, cleaning, and other basic chores. “Ava, stop what you're doing!” Jimmy, the head chef, said, rushing over in a panic, startling me. “Yes?” I questioned, turning to see a very out of breath chef panting. “A messenger came! All the royals from the other surrounding castles are coming here for dinner, including King Axel. We need all hands on deck.” I quickly followed the chef and started preparing a variety of different pies and other dishes while the chef scrambled nervously to get everything done. “Tonya! You call this a salad!” Chef yelled, throwing it in her face. “Do it again!” “Yes Sir.” She pulled her blond frizzy hair behind her ear and quickly swept up the mess. Tonya was a nervous tiny thing with a few extra pounds, but that was only expected with how good her food was. “Billy, how's the bread coming along?!” Chef asked. “Almost in the oven.” Billy was in those awkward teens, where he was a nerdy guy with noodle arms and short legs. “Ava? The pies?” He asked cautiously. “3 in the oven and three more almost ready.” I replied. “The royals are so good- looking!” Tonya drooled while chopping up a fresh cabbage. “Maybe you’ll finally be a bride,” Billy joked, earning him a slap on the head from me. “Those royal ass’s would be lucky to have her as a wife!” I said confidently. “With that plain face!” He said, shocked, earning him another slap this time from Tonya. “It was just a daydream!” Tonya said half-heartedly. “Oh, please Tonya, ” I said unimpressed. “Don’t you know the way to a man's heart is through his stomach? And Tonya, you make a mean Shepherd’s pie.” "Ava is a wise woman,” The chef said, trying to suppress a laugh. “Now get back to work!” “Ava, why do you always cover your face when you have such a pretty voice?” Billy asked curiously. Billy was always a kind soul. Both him and Tonya were good people, even if they were a little afraid of me; they did their best not to show it. “Why Billy, are you trying to hit on me?” I teased. “No!” He panicked, making me laugh. “No, I meant…”. “I-I was curious, is all.” “I was given hideous scars that festered all throughout my body including my face,” I answered, lying through my teeth. “Oh, I see.” He said, looking down. “How did that happen?” Damn, he’s giving me the third degree. “I don’t remember. It happened so long ago.” I continued my BS. “What about your hair? I’m sure it gets super-hot, keeping it covered all the time.” “Well, aren’t you curious? You know I was told once that if anyone ever saw my true appearance their eyes would turn to mush.” I said nonchalantly. I really have gotten too good at making up crap. “Leave her alone!” Tonya said, trying to end the conversation that was clearly making her uncomfortable. “Ava, don’t you want a husband?” Billy said, feeling bad for me. “Nah, waste of time.” I said, pounding a fresh batch of dough onto the table. “That’s so sad.” “Not as sad as you're going to be if you burn the bread,” The chef said, pointing at the already burning loaves. “Oh, crap!” Billy ran over to the oven. After a few hours of preparing a grand feast, Jimmy gave me a break for lunch. I walked outside to the garden, over to my favorite spot. The garden was my sanctuary. I loved the colorful flowers, watching the birds, and staring up at the sky. If I was at home, I would think this spot was incredibly boring. Where I came from, life was so different; no kings or queens or status, everyone was equal. The garden is the one thing that reminds me of home. I didn’t pay much attention to the politics of this world. I had one goal and that was to live peacefully, which meant not getting noticed in either a bad or good way. People preferred to keep their distance from me anyway, which was a-o okay thing for me. The garden never lied or whispered, it was honest to it’s very core. Pure beauty and no evil. “Let me go!” Screamed a little girl no more than 8 or 10 years old. The young prince, who was 11 years old, grinned, pulling on her poor braids. “Stop it!” A little brown-haired boy yelled, grabbing onto the prince's arm. “Aaahhh!!” The young prince screamed as the boy chomped down on his arm. That’s when his personal guard stepped in and threw the boy to the ground. The prince had let go of the girl and was seething with anger. “Cut out his tongue!” The guard nodded and stepped towards the boy. “Ugh, …” I really didn’t want to step in, but the young prince was taking this too far. Spoiled Brat. Out of moral obligation, I walked over and stood in front of the boy shielding him from the guard. “I think that’s enough. Don’t you?” The guard scoffed, “Who do you think you are to stand in front of a royal guard?!” “Ava,” I answered flatly. I was never the one to care about status and it annoyed a lot of people to say the least. “How dare you?” The prince stomped his foot. “Cut her tongue out as well!” “Sire, I meant no disrespect, but this boy is supposed to serve all the royals tonight. I don’t think it would look good if he was mutilated before he served them.” I bowed a little. I always felt that bowing was beneath me, but as my mom would put it, ‘suck it up buttercup. When in Rome, do as the Romans.’ “Plus, if you like that girl enough to tease her, then hurting her friend would make her cry even more. Don’t you want her to like you?” I teased. The prince blushed in shock. “A-alright.” He stuttered. I think he was so shocked, he just ended up agreeing. “I guess, I can let him go this one time.” He said, raising his nose high. Cute. A child's pride is no joke. “Let them go.” He ordered his guard, walking away, who was already following closely behind him. Sheesh, so childish. The prince obviously wanted to run away from me. He probably thinks I’m a witch or something. “Thank you…”, the servant boy behind me bowed respectfully. I turned around and raised an eyebrow. “Why did you help me?” He asked. I paused for a brief minute before a big grin showered on my face. I had an evil idea. “I like the children I eat for breakfast to have their tongues so I can hear their screams.” I laughed. I was then shoved to the ground by the little girl who grabbed the boy's hand and ran off. “Ouch!” “Damn kids and after I was so nice.” “Ugh…”, I groaned, realizing I needed to head back to the kitchen. “So much for a break.” “I like Ava!” I heard Billy scream in a defensive voice. “She’s evil. I saw her swallow a spider.” A high-pitched, annoying voice lied. “I don’t want her touching my food!” Another very annoying voice said. “Just because you’re our king's mistress doesn’t mean you have any authority in my kitchen!” The Chef yelled. I leaned against the hallway door to the kitchen while I continued to ease drop. “She might poison him!” A guy's voice protested. ‘Wow…’. I couldn’t help, but think this conversation was funny. I mean it was just stupid. “That’s not true!” Billy argued. “How could you let something so gross and repellent work in your kitchen?!” The mistress asked with pure disgust. ‘Does she not have anything better to do? I wish I had that kind of free time. I swear there are Karen's no matter when or where you go.’ I sighed. “She’s cleaner than you,” the chef scoffed. ‘Burn! Go Jimmy! You tell Karen what’s up! Though… I'm pretty sure she’s cleaner than me…’. “What do you mean by that?!” “I hear that half the court has visited your bedrooms.” ‘...Oh, s**t!!’ I about burst into laughter. ‘Jimmy, you did not just say that. I’m sorry, Jimmy, but if she slaps you, I’m gonna look the other way. You deserve that one.’ “How dare you?!” “Spiders are delicious.” I said, walking in. As entertaining as listening to their stupid conversation was, I decided to bring an end to it because of the tight schedule we had with the last-minute feast preparations. “You have a wicked soul.” The mistress' personal servant girl hissed. “Yeah, maybe.” I said, disinterested. "Ugly hag like you should crawl back into the b***h that gave birth to you and die.” The mistress seethed. There’s always gonna be a hater. “I would try, but I’m pretty sure that’s not how that works. Do let me know if it works for you.” “YOU…!” The mistress started. “Mistress Rava, if you don’t leave now. I will gladly personally explain to the king why his grand feast was not finished being prepared for him and his royal guests.” I grinned maliciously. “Whatever. This is beneath me anyways.” She said, storming out of the kitchen with her servant girl and cleaning boy. ‘At least she knows. I thought she was just stupid. Guess not entirely.’ The Feast: Later that night, the royals arrived. The chef was so stressed I thought one of his eyeballs would pop out of his head. I laughed internally at the thought. ‘Gross.’ “Ava. Tonya left, so I need you to serve the wine.” the Chef said, giving me the pitcher. “Ugh,” I groaned in annoyance. If anyone calls me a wench, I swear I’m gonna shove my foot up their royal ass’s. God it’s hot in here. “What about Billy?” “Everyone else is busy, so get to it.” “Everyone?” “Ava, go!” He ordered. I clicked my tongue and walked towards the royal dining room. The round table had 12 men seated around it discussing political matters. Everything they said made no sense to me, not that it was any of my concern. Pouring wine in their glasses, I made sure to only look down, so as not to draw any attention to myself, though I could feel a few eyes drawing daggers into my chest. I just need to do this quickly and then I can escape. It’s so damn hot! You think it would be a bit cool with it being night and all, but no! “I want you all to send five of your best fighters to deal with the rogues in Derricks Kingdom.” A manly booming voice declared. ‘Rogue? Don’t know. Don’t care.’ “We will send them first thing tomorrow.” Another manly voice agreed. “King Axel, I meant to ask you how my sister is holding up?” “Your sister is happily married to my beta.” The same booming luscious voice spoke, but this time with a hint of annoyance. ‘What is a beta? Like beta fish? I’m melting in this room.’ “What?! She was your betrothal! Why was I not informed of this?!” The other man yelled, outraged. “I’m informing you now.” He said, bored. “This was not…!” As they were talking, well more like arguing, I continued to pour drinks. I stared at the fire pit in the room for a few seconds, cursing the heat. ‘It was so god damn hot!’ I was sweating bullets and my insides were shooting sparks throughout my entire body. I was literally fine a minute ago and now my vision was getting blurry. ‘The f**k?!’ I felt my knees trembling as if they were about to give out. I reached out for the table and ended up grabbing onto someone’s shirt in an attempt to keep myself from falling. ‘I got to pour drinks! This is not the time for me to suddenly collapse from heat stroke or something ridiculous! It wasn’t even that warm out today.’ It was right then I came out of my own thoughts, when I noticed the room was dead silent. I looked up at the faces and there was nothing but shock staring back at me. That’s when it hit me. ‘Who am I grabbing onto?’ I looked over to find the most delicious sculpted man I had ever seen. Sharp jawline, muscles popping, jet black wavy hair, and piercing blue eyes. The need to slam his c**k into my womb was insatiable. ‘I want him... No! Get your head out of the gutter!’ I pulled away and landed on the ground spilling the wine all over me. ‘Great. I’m totally making a scene. What is wrong with me? It’s so hot! So f*****g hot!’ On the ground, I started pulling at my clothes, but only slightly. I needed air; walking seemed to be out of the question. I had this painful need to be f****d, but in no way was I going to act on it. ‘Was I drugged?! But like how and when?! I feel like I’m going crazy.’ That’s when a man got up and pounced on me. “I’ll help you with that.” He grabbed my chest. ‘Oh, hell no!’ I grabbed him by the neck and practically threw him on the ground. I didn’t know where that energy came from, since I couldn’t even walk. The guy tried to get up, but I threw myself on him with all my strength and started punching like my life depended on it. “I won’t let anyone take advantage of me and get away with it!” Another jumped towards me, but I was able to get up and latch onto his arm, throwing him into the wall. Both men were knocked out stone cold, so I grabbed one of their blades and stood up facing the table breathing hard. ‘What the hell is wrong with them?! Obviously, I’m not feeling well, so why are they standing up staring at me like I’m their f*****g prey! And their eyes are BLACK! These men were big and muscular.’ “f*****g Animals!” I did not have a chance, but at the same time, I wasn’t going to give in. “Stay away!” My voice squeaked. I really had no idea where all my strength was coming from. I was so scared, and the heat just kept getting worse. I tore the cloth off that was covering my face, revealing my true appearance. I could barely think anymore. I pushed my long wavy fiery red hair behind my ear. I even opened up some of the cloth covering my chest. Not the smartest move, but I wasn’t thinking straight, and I was desperate to escape the heat. Everyone just stood there stunned, looking at me. “What did you do to me?!” “What is this?! Make it STOP!” Tears began to pour down my cheek. The man with those piercing blue eyes stepped towards me. God was he handsome, but over my dead body was he going to touch me. “What is your problem?!” I yelled, trembling and shaking the heavy sword in my hands, weighing down my arms.
