They all loved him. Mom, Dad and Katy. My mother loved that he was polite and well-mannered. My father loved his charm and wit but was mostly interested in his sports prowess. And Katy, it was obvious she was dazzled by his good looks. Deep breathing and wanting the ground to just swallow me whole, I forced myself to eat more of my dinner. My gaze strayed around the large dining room table, from the large bowl of flowers in the center to the fine china and the gleaming silverware. We usually ate at the kitchen table, but since we had a special guest, my mother insisted we eat in the formal dining room.
