Chapter Four

1580 Words
I waited patiently until Kyle came over with Samuel's arm draped over his shoulder, obviously passed out an hour later.         "Come on Emily, time to go."         "Okay, just give me a second to take my shoes off. My feet are killing me. Then I'll give you a hand with him." I quickly took off my shoes and felt instant relief on the cold floor. I took Samuel's other arm and wrapped it around my shoulder. He stirred at my touch.         "Mmm... Emily... my mate." Sam mumbled         "Don't worry, the car's just outside, then it's only a short drive to the house." Kyle explained clearly not having heard what Sam said.         "It's fine. I'm just grateful that it's a Friday so I don't have school tomorrow."         "How long until you finish?"         "Two weeks then I'm free from that hell hole. Although I never gave any thought to what to do after I finish."         "Don't worry, now your back with the pack you'll be given a job. Most likely, I'm afraid, you'll act as a housekeeper, cooking, cleaning, that sort of thing. Neither of us are much good in the kitchen except with a can of baked beans and the toaster, Sam's better than me. Dad said you enjoyed cooking."         "Oh, that's fine. Yeah, I do enjoy coking. I did most of it at my grandparents. I realise I really don't know much about the pack and how it works, except that Sam is the Alpha and that you're the Beta, Sam's right hand man." I said as we reached the car. I opened the back door and Kyle pushed Sam in, being careful of his head.         "You'll pick up how things work quick enough."         The ride to the pack house was quiet except for Sam's gentle snoring. When we stopped, I moved to help Kyle get Sam out of the car.         "Don't worry, I've got him. It's not the first time I've had to carry him drunk back to his room. Just get the doors and a large glass of water for him. He's a right old grouch the next morning after drinking this much unless he drinks water before he sleeps."         We went into the large house. I recognised everything about it from when Chris brought me here after my parents vanished. I went to the kitchen, which Kyle pointed out to me, to get a glass of water for Sam while Kyle made his way up the stairs slowly. I followed behind them. Kyle dropped Sam on his bed as I put the glass down on the nightstand. Kyle was catching his breath sat on the edge of the bed.         "I suppose I should at least get him out of his suit. You go to bed Emily, fourth door down the hall is your room. Some of your things should already be in there."         "Okay, thanks Kyle. Get some rest too." I went to move away when Sam stirred and suddenly reached out and took my hand firmly.         "Stay... my mate... Emily... please stay." He muttered in his sleep. Kyle definitely heard it this time. His eyes went wide and his brows raised as he looked between the two of us.         "Huh... that's why he was asking about you and kept looking at you all night. Did you know?"         "Yeah, he came and found me when I stepped out to get some fresh air. He didn't say anything to me about it though and I didn't mention it either. I have no clue what the right way to deal with finding your mate is."         "How did you know if he didn't tell you? You can't hear your wolf."         "I, um, I actually heard her tonight, that's why I needed some air. I was so surprised, I didn't think it would happen." I looked at him sheepishly.         "Oh, that's great, although I've never heard of a wolf appearing for the first time so late. He's not asked you to accept him yet then?"         "No he hasn't."         "This better stay between us then until he does. Lots of women hope to be his mate and until he marks you they might try to get you out of the way. We won't anyone hurt you, I promise." He hastily added the last part seeing the slight alarm on my face.         "Okay. Will you help me with my wolf? Making her stronger? I don't want to have to rely on either of you to protect me. I want to be able to shift and protect myself. I want to be worthy of him."         "You don't even need to ask, we'll discuss it tomorrow, and I'd say you're already more than worthy of him looking at how he won't let you go. You okay to sort him out? I'd rather not get punched if he thinks I'm trying to take you away from him. He won't do anything to you. My room is just across the hall if you need anything."         "Yeah that's fine. Get some rest Kyle, you drank quite a bit too, and thank you." I gave him a soft smile.         "Don't mention it. Goodnight Emily, It's nice to see you again, you're the little sister I never had."         He got up and quickly left the room, closing the door behind him leaving Sam and I alone. I moved to take off his shoes but his grip on my hand tightened.         "I'm not going anywhere Sam, just going to make you more comfortable." I whispered in his ear. He let go of my hand, slowly letting it slip from his. I took off his shoes and socks, then put his legs under the covers. I wasn't going to take of his trousers, I wasn't ready to see that. I somehow managed to take his jacket off and started unbuttoning his shirt, slowly revealing the smooth, toned planes of his torso. I draped his shirt over the chair by the balcony doors. I turned back to where he was lying in the bed and that's when I noticed it. The birthmark on his hip poking out from the waistband of his trousers. It was in the shape of a howling wolf, only the head visible. The exact same birthmark as I had and in the same place too. I gently traced it with my fingers. He didn't move. I withdrew my hand and looked for something more comfortable to sleep in than this dress. Not wanting to rummage through his things I decided to wear the shirt I'd just take off of him. I walked back to the chair and turned around so he couldn't see anything in case he woke up. Sam P.O.V I came to, feeling her soft fingers lightly tracing the top of my birthmark. I didn't dare to open my eyes. I heard her move away from the bed and the rustling of fabric. I opened my eyes ever so slightly to see if she was watching me. She wasn't. Her back was turned to me. I opened my eyes fully to watch her in the beam of moonlight coming through a gap in the curtains. The only light in the room. She struggled for a moment to reach the zipper at the back of her dress. I wanted to jump out of bed and help her, but I didn't. That dress showed off all her curves in the most beautifully, perfect way and made her eyes shine like chrome does in the sun. I watched as she unzipped it, slowly revealing the smooth, pale skin of the back. The zip stopped just above her luscious, rounded arse. She freed her arms from the straps, letting the dress fall to the floor in a puddle at her feet. She wasn't wearing any underwear. I couldn't take my eyes away from her. She was the most beautiful creature I had ever seen. My wolf was whimpering and whining with want. She moved to the chair in the corner near the balcony doors, where I saw the shirt she had taken off of me and few moments earlier. She slipped her arms through the sleeves cover her back. She turned slightly and glanced my way. Our eyes met and she gave me a small, shy smile. I wanted her there and then. I'd never wanted anyone so badly in my life. I watched the movement of her hands as they buttoned up my shirt from the bottom. Enclosing her in a piece of me. She left the top three buttons undone. I could see the base of her neck and the top of her chest just above the curve of her breasts. Her hands dropped to her sides and she just stood there looking nervous while I drank in the sight of her long smooth legs.         "Come here," I spoke softly, "I won't do anything unless you want me to." I stretched out a hand, beckoning her towards me.
