"Her eyes held fire, her hair raged along the wind, her stance as firm as earth yet flexible like water, she dodged his attack and controlled water like an extension of her hands attacking him, but he easily dodged, she let out a heavy breath and manipulated the earth to her will, yet it was enough and she was losing, also the sun was setting (she draws her powers fron light), he was winning and there was only one option left, her life for the world, she quickly began the rite before the sun set fully, "What are you doing" He yelled knowing he couldn't defeat what was coming next, She ignored as her butterfly like necklace glowed "Gudinden har talt (The Goddess has Spoken)" She said as a tear drop ran down her cheek, that tear dropped on tge earth and spring forth light, spreading life to the world, the flowers, the stars, the butterflies, and much more even us peculiars (A term used to describe humans with gifts), All thanks to the Goddess, she's my hero" Esperanza finally concluded the old fairytale, she kept admiring the book as i shoved it aside "But that's a fairytale, in this world we deal with science only, true facts, hypothesis and theories" I said, "No it's not,es real, y ella es la razón por la que tenemos estos regalos (it's real and she's the reason we have these gifts)" Esperanza said mixing English and Spanish as she countered me, "You've got to stop believing in all these books you know" I said frustrated that she still believes in fairy tales, "Yeah, you know the only reason we have power is that, we're made fron the particles of the earth, therefore these particles are embedded in us giving us knowledge of tge true nature of the materials of the earth and allows us to move and manipulate this elements using precise calculations, Myle Liam's Peculiar Theory, Simple Physics" Janessa another friend explained. "Whatever, I know the Goddess is real,Puedo sentirlo (I can just feel it), Esperanza said still convinced and Jenessa sighed, I was about to comment but the announcement box interrupted, "Attention Peculiars, calling emergency state right now, an earthquake has been detected to arrive in five days at District Seven, all senior peculiars are to converge at the school hall for a meeting on how to go through immediately". "Woah, this is serious, I'll go check on the Dean" I said, "we're coming with you too" Janessa said and Esperanza nodded, I agreed and we all made our way to the Dean's office. I entered in without knocking, I always do "Quevel, come sit" The Dean said as I got settled into one of the chairs, "The news about the Earthquake, why didn't I get it first?" I questioned, "Am so sorry dear, we all just got the news, and it was too soon so we thought announcing would be better" She explained and I nodded, "is the Mayor aware?" I asked, "No, after we meeting, I was just about to leave , let's talk more later ok" She said and I nodded as we all took our leave. 🪄🪄🪄 Esperanza's pov🪄🪄🪄 We made our way to the school hall for the meeting, every one was worried sick but for a reason I wasn't, because Quevel was on our side, she's so reliable in every situation, just watching her walk confidently made me confident, although she may be a little bossy (scratch that little, a lot) but she's good in everything she does and she wants others to be good too, she makes sure we train a lot, and also forces us to do beauty routine as she always say "poderosa o no la belleza es imprescindible" (that is Peculiars or not beauty is a must)". We arrived at the hall, the whole hall was filled and normal Peculiars would have just sat at the back, but Quevel wasn't just any normal peculiar, we made our way to the front of the hall, luckily there was two sit available but we were three, almost immediately a girl spoke "Senior Q, you can have my sit, and thanks for the hair growth recipe, it was schway" she said and stood up for Quevel, "you're welcome pearl" Quevel replied and smiled at her, "you remember my name?" Pearl asked surprised, "of course, all peculiars are special and deserve to be treated with respect" Quevel replied and Pearl giggled as she made her way to the back. 🪄🪄🪄Janessa's pov🪄🪄🪄 The Dean walked to the podium to address us,"Good day Peculiars, am sure you are all aware of the situation right now, an earthquake has been detected to attack District Seven in five days, we have to come up with a solution and fast, I'll leave it to our very own captain of the Peculiar, Quevel Kessy" she said and everyone cheered as Quevel made her way to the podium. "Good day peculiar, Thank you Dean Lim, as I always say, everyone's opinion is welcomed as I don't know it all" Quevel started. One thing I love about Quevel is that she doesn't let attention get into hee head, rather she strives to get better, she was adopted by The Kessy, rather than feel unwanted and alone, she made herself belong, she dumped her past and trained hard since she was seven, at first she was so weak but right now she's the strongest perculiar among us and that's why she's the captain of the peculiars. "Janessa, you're the thinker, what would you say about earthquakes" I hear her ask me. And yes am a Thinker, Thinkers have the ability to think and calculate every single variable of an event that might or might not happen. I stood up to answer her question and began "When the stress on the rocks exceed their strength, they break or slip away along the fault line, this movement releases stored energy, which generates seismic waves which creates earthquake, so unless we can absorb all the energy stored and the seismic wave the earthquake will happen" I sais after precise calculation, "and is there anyine with this ability?" she asked, I closed my eyes for a moment calculating every single variable of perculiar but nothing connected to absorbing waves of energy, "no one" I replied, almost immediately two guys stood up, they were the popular identican twins Tenzyn and Lenzyn, "we have an idea" they both said simultaneously, "instead of looking for a person with the ability" Tenzyn said, "why not create a thing with the ability" Lenzyn added, "we can build a machine that absorbs waves and energy" they both concluded, "That's a great idea, how much time do you need" Quevel asked, "we're not sure, but it may take a long time to build it" Tenzyn said or was it Lenzyn, whatever I don't know how to differentiate them, "Alright, please start right now" Quevel said as they both nodded and left the hall with another guy following them. 🪄🪄🪄Quevel's pov🪄🪄🪄 "Also just in case they need more time, we'll be ready to evacuate District Seven on the forth day" I said before leaving the podium. The Dean stood up "alright then, this meeting is dismissed" she said, "Quevel can I see you in my office" she said before leaving "and your friends too" she added. 🪄🪄🪄The Dean's office🪄🪄🪄 "We still have to break the news to the Mayor, I'll like you to go in my stead while I make arrangements for the evacuation teams, make sure to convince him that there's no need to be alarmed" Dean Lim said and I replied her with a nod. We left her office. "I'll breach us there" I said, and by that I meant open a portal, am a breacher, I have the ability to sense the frequency of a particular point in space and match it with the frequency of another point in space thereby creating a portal leading to and fro of those points. "Are you sure we should just barge into his office through a portal, he's the mayor you know?" Janessa asked worried, "whatever we're on an emergency" I replied and proceeded to open a portal, walking through it, we arrived at the Mayor's office 🪄🪄🪄The Mayor's office 🪄🪄🪄 "Sir we just upgraded your security no one can just walk in without us detecting" an officer said and I chuckled at what he said because we just walked in and no one detected us. "Who the hell are you" the officer said and I replied, "am Quevel Kessy and am representing Dean Lim on an important issue" I said, "you're from the Kessy family, am sorry I wasn't thinking" the guard said already pale at the thought of offending a Kessy. I shoved my hands at him and he bowed and left, "if it's important why isn't she here herself" he asked, "she's busy finding solutions as we speak" I said as I got settled in one of the chairs while Esperanza and Janessa just stood quietly, "and who are those two" he said pointing to Esperanza and Janessa, "Am Janessa Brin" Janessa said "am Esperanza" Esperanza also said, "so what's the matter about?" The Mayor asked without even offering them a sit, "it's concerns District Seven, we got an earthquake alarm and it's expected in five days" I said calmly, "what!, that's a really serious issue I need to speak with your Dean immediately" he exclaimed "you don't have to worry, we already got it under control" Janessa said and I nodded, "what's your plan?" He asked, "we're building a machine right now that will absorb the wave that will cause he earthquake" Janessa added, "and when will this machine be ready" he asked, "not anytime soon" Esperanza blunted out carelessly so I gave her a sharp look, "that's not reassuring" the Mayor said, "we'll have it as soon as we can, and if it's still not ready in the forth day we have an evacuation team ready to evacuate the area if any need, but be rest assured we have the most brilliant Peculiars working on it, and am positive if any one can do it, it's us" I said with confidence, "ok then, I'll wait till the forth day" he said and I nodded. And we made our way back to school.
