Chapter 5

Mae’s P.O.V.

Today is the day. I woke up. I didn’t feel any different. Was I supposed to feel different? Then all of a sudden I heard a voice.

It’s nice to meet you Mae. My name is Grey, your wolf.

I couldn’t believe it. This is her. 

‘It’s an honor to meet you. I can’t believe that I finally have a wolf.’

I will be with you now through it all. Whatever you feel, I feel, and vice versa. We are apart of each other, but still two different beings.

‘I will need you to be with me to get through this day.’

Don’t worry Mae. I will. Remember that I am with you no matter what.

'I have so many questions for you, Grey.'

Just wait until you shift for the first time and you can see what I can truly do and hopefully you will get many answers to the questions you seek. I am a new wolf as well so I will learn with you remember. 

Duh. That's right. Of course she doesn't have all the answers she's figuring this out with me.

'I'm sorry Grey I can't wait to find out what we can do together.' 

And with that she went back into my mind. It is pretty cool knowing that I am never alone now. My parents and Hazel have told me that your first shift hurts a bit, but the more you do it the more. You get used to it. It’s a very important and meaningful moment for a werewolf. And I could not wait to shift. I am very strong not in wolf form, so it made me even more excited to see what we could do together when Grey is in control.

The rest of went by like most Saturdays. I got to the gym and got a great lift in. I could already feel myself get stronger because of my wolf. Then I got back home showered, and my mom had made me my favorite breakfast, Belgium waffles with diced strawberries and some whip cream and some scrambled eggs. Then I continued on like most Saturday’s, helped my mom in the kitchen with the other kitchen Omega’s. I made sure I got back home with enough time to get ready for the evening.

By the time I got ready and the outfit Lacy picked out for me on, Hazel and Lacy were pulling up to my house and honking the horn. 

“Alright I’m leaving. Bye guys, I love you.” I say to my parents as I grab my purse and head towards the door.

“We love you to sweetheart. Just remember to make good choices, and to not drink and drive. Call an uber, or Lyft, or heck call your father for goodness sake.” My mom says concerned.

“Honey they will be fine. They are very smart. Right Mae?” Dad says as he glances over at me.

“Yes. Don’t worry. We will be fine. Okay but I have to go. Love you.”

And with that I left before they could add anything else.

I get in Lacy’s blue pickup truck and she has some pop music blasted. I slide into the backseat and immediately she turns down the music and her and Hazel shout, “HAPPY BIRTHDAY!”

“Thanks guys.” 

“How has your day been so far Mae?” Hazel asks.

“It has been a pretty normal except for the fact that I talked to my wolf this morning.” I said trying to sound nonchalant. 

“Yes! What’s her name?” Hazel asks. Hazel is really into learning about our wolves. Her wolf’s name is Bloom, and even though I haven’t seen her yet, I picture she has a radiant reddish fur coat.  

“Her name’s Grey.” 

“Ooooo sexy. I like it. I bet she has a beautiful silver coat. To match your cool silver eyes.” Lacy says. 

Both Hazel and I laugh. “Wow how did you ever think of that?” Hazel teases.

We keep laughing and make Lacy turn up the music. “You guys suck. I have some new details on the long lost alpha I was going to tell you both before we get to the bar, but now I’m not sure since you guys are just making fun of me.” Macy says.

“Oh we were just teasing. Please tell us the newest gossip.” Hazel says apologetically. 

“Yeah we don’t want to make any new friends to give us the gossip. That’s too much work.” I say jokingly as I give her a little kiss on the cheek.

“Ugh stop it, save it for your future mate.” She says as she wipes the kiss off my cheek, “Okay so one of my friends from the Emerald Lake Pack told me while we were training this afternoon that apparently Alpha Harold mind-linked the whole pack to let them know that his son Kendrick is back, and they are holding his Alpha Ceremony tomorrow!”

For the only time this entire car ride, the car got silent.

“Wow, he’s finally back?” Hazel finally says, “That’s crazy that they are having his ceremony so soon.”

“Well if I were him, I wouldn’t want to wait. He’s done that long enough.” I add.

Lacy and Hazel chuckle at me. 

“What?” I say.

Hazel finally says, “Of course you’d say that. You never take any time off.”

“Honestly, I’m shocked you even wanted to go out tonight. I figured on your birthday you’d just want to go back to the gym and train.” Lacy adds.

I roll my eyes at them and just say, “I respect the thought of getting it over with and getting back to work. Whatever the reason for why he was gone. He at least is getting back to it now.”

“Oh I’d love it if he’d get it with me, if you know what I mean…” Lacy says with a certain seduction to her voice.

Hazel says, “You don’t even know what he looks like anymore Lace.” 

“I remember what he looked like at 18, and damn I bet 4 years treated that Alpha welllllllll,” 

We all start laughing and by the time we were done we were arriving to our destination, The Social.
