Amidst the pulsating beat of the club's music, Sophia felt Jake's hand tighten around hers as they navigated through the sea of dancing bodies. The dim lights cast an ethereal glow on her face, illuminating the hint of a smile playing on her lips. She glanced around, taking in the energetic atmosphere, the air thick with excitement and the scent of perfume and sweat.
Jake, one of Sophia's numerous younger boyfriends, leaned in close to be heard over the music. "Having fun?"
Sophia nodded, her eyes sparkling. "Yeah, it's lively tonight."
They located the VIP section near the bar, claiming a spot to catch their breath. As Sophia gazed at Jake, his profile outlined by the neon lights, she couldn't shake the feeling that something was off, an unspoken tension lingering beneath the surface of their playful banter.
“Can't believe you're married now," Jake remarked, his tone tinged with disbelief.
“Me too” . Sophia replied with a sarcastic laugh
“You know he doesn't deserve you," Jake said softly, planting a gentle kiss on her lips. His hands wandered closer to her thighs as he drew nearer, his touch stirring a reaction in Sophia.
“I had to do this for my father, you know how he is," Sophia explained, struggling to maintain composure as Jake's hands ventured further.
“When do I get to see you again, It's gonna be harder now that you're married, right?
“Not really. I'll be traveling a lot. I'll call you when I need you. Let me handle it," Sophia reassured him with a commanding yet soothing tone. "Actually, how about I make it up to you tonight?”
“Whoa, I love the sound of that”
“I have an exclusive suite reserved for me. Come, show me how much you've missed me”
She signaled her private security with a snap of her fingers, and he promptly brought her phone. Sophia dialed the hotel where she planned to stay, arranging her arrival. They stood up simultaneously, her private security leading the way as they held hands, following behind . A few minutes later, they arrived at the hotel. Once inside her room, they both undressed. Sophia brought out a small, transparent package containing alcoholic drinks and glasses from the fridge
"Tonight's going to be amazing," Jake remarked, gulping the shots of liquor laid out on the glass table near the sofa. "You can't experience this at home." He grinned at Sophia, who was already feeling the effects of the substances she took
"You're right. I wish this night would never end. This is true fun," Sophia replied with a drowsy tone.
Sophia rose from her seat and moved to sit on Jake's lap, deftly kicking the glass table aside with her foot. She engaged Jake in a passionate French kiss, their shared moans echoing with ecstasy. Jake's hands explored her body with tender caresses. In this moment, Sophia realized she could never feel this way with Richard; the thought of him repelled her. She was determined to seize every moment of pleasure with Jake.
"Let's take this further," she whispered playfully, nodding toward the king-size bed positioned in the corner of the room. She stood up from his lap, wriggling her waist in a s****l manner with Jake's head following the rhythm of the movement in excitement.
“What took you so long?” Jake replied with a smile on his face. He lifted her on his shoulder while she playfully drums on his back with clenched fists, her feet swinging in a feigned display of resistance

Miriam steps out of the yellow and black taxi, struggling to weave her way through the bustling crowd of people coming and going, as she makes her way across the street towards the coffee shop. It's nearly four o'clock in the afternoon, and she is significantly behind schedule. “Over here!" Richard's voice calls out, accompanied by a welcoming wave of his hand, signaling for her to join him.
She arrived at Richard's table, taking a seat in the far left corner with a remorseful look on her face, acknowledging her lateness.
"Apologies for being late," she said, hinting that she was delayed due to handling his business matters.
"You should have called; I've been waiting for hours," Richard expressed, clearly frustrated.
"I'm sorry," Miriam muttered apologetically.
"Is that my termination letter on the table?" Miriam chuckled nervously, pointing to a file near Richard's arm.
“Well, I considered that, but your parents would probably kill me," Richard replied with a half-smile, half-serious expression.
“This right here marks a new beginning for our company and for us," Richard declared enthusiastically. "We've landed a two billion dollar contract!" he exclaimed, hitting the table in excitement, filled with optimism and anticipation for the future.
Miriam was stunned, her fixated without a blink. Not in her wildest dreams was she expecting this news. She could remember the first week after her graduation from college and how Richard persistently told her about his big dreams he had for his company and how she could be a part of it as his secretary
“Are you kidding me” she said like needed more assurance that it wasn't a prank
“You can take a look at the documents to see for yourself “ Richard replies sliding the document to her part to confirm
As Miriam flipped through the documents, her expression shifted suddenly to one of seriousness and disappointment. She looked at Richard, clearly upset and trying to control her anger. She couldn't believe what she was seeing. It seemed too deliberate to be a coincidence.
"Richard, is this what I think it is?" Miriam asked, her voice tinged with frustration.
"What do you mean?" Richard replied, feigning ignorance.
"This contract was awarded by Hybrid Holdings," Miriam continued, her words coming out in a rush. "It's owned by your father-in-law, Mr. Jack Brown, and you got this contract based on your agreement with him, not on merit."
"I had a feeling this was too good to be true. Our company is too young to secure a deal of this magnitude legitimately."
“What does it matter, we were awarded a contract by a mega company, a contract that could change our lives, increase the growth of our company, make us rich, better savings, better healthcare. Richard replied as he named all the benefits
"I thought you said you no longer wanted the deal and that you've grown to love her," Richard remarked with concern. "Do you even realize what will happen to the company if this becomes public?"
"I'm sorry, I knew you wouldn't agree to it," Richard continued, expressing disappointment. "Sophia doesn't care about this; as long as her father funds her lavish lifestyle, she's fine with it."
Miriam understood that a choice had been made, and she had to either stand by Richard or not. Despite her discomfort with the situation and her commitment to ethical behavior, she couldn't abandon her best friend. She knew she had to support him and trust his decisions, believing that although the decision was questionable, it might ultimately benefit her life as well.
“Alright, alright, I'm going to trust you on this," Lilian said, gesturing with her hands to show her agreement and support. "But please, you have to be very careful."
"Of course, I will," Richard replied enthusiastically, squeezing her hand in reassurance.
"Enough of your drama, it's getting late; we need to go," Lilian urged.
Clutching her bag in one hand and the document in the other, Lilian quickly stood up, prompting Richard to rise with his suitcase. They hurriedly made their way to the counter to order take-home snacks before leaving.
