My Dream

~Jasmine~ "Get off your bed you fool". I heard my step mum shout. I quickly rushed downstairs to meet her. "Good morning mum" I said. She slapped me and warned me not to ever call her mum again. I then did the dishes that was left since yesterday, swept the house and went to shower . I wore my uniform and though my school wasn't one of those for the elites, it was still quite a good one. I rushed downstairs after being aware that I was late for school already. I got to school not too long and went to my class and sat on my chair. The teacher came in and I couldn't listen, all o could think of was the t*****e I keep passing through at home. Since my dad died, my step mum keeps maltreating me, my step sister Aurora and Elena does nothing at all to help, they hate me so much that sometimes they say in my presence that they wish to kill me or sell me off. I really don't know what I actually did to offend them but either way I know God is my strength. I believe that when I become a world known photographer one day, they'll begin to respect me. After my History class, I went to Ms Abigail my favourite of all teachers "Morning Ms Abigail" I greeted her. "Morning Jasmine, how was your night?". I replied that it was fine although I didn't get too much sleep but oh well what could I do. "So how can I help you" she asked. "Ehmm.... Ma, I came to ask if you could help me with a few dollars so I could replace my camera's battery, it runs down too quick nowadays". "Jasmine dear, I think we've passed the can you help me stage, I told you that you can come to me anytime and anywhere, I promise to get you your batteries before the end of the day" she said. I quickly pulled her into a hug and then said " Ms Abigail, I promise you'll be the first professional picture I'll take". She laughed and sent me back to my class. On getting there, Aurora came to me and slapped me then said "You bastard, I caught my boyfriend staring at you". " Aurora I'm sorry for that but didn't dad tell us not to have anything to do with boys till our second year in the Uni". She slapped me again and said "Your father is dead and rotten in his stupid grave so if I ever catch you with my boyfriend again, I'll lose it on you". I sighed and took out my dream book and added a few things to them. Soon after the next class it was time for lunch, Mum never gives me my money or food so since my dad died I've never visited the school's cafeteria and that's about 5 years ago. I stayed in the class and bowed my head on the table to take a quick nap. "Let's welcome Ms Jasmine Oliver to come to the podium and collect her 7th time in a row award for best photographer ".............. " Hey Jasmine!!! Jasmine!!! "I woke up immediately I heard my name. So much for a big dream. I looked up and found a young guy looking back at me "Hey Jasmine" he said again. "Hey" I simply replied then he said "Ehmm.... I'm new here and I was directed to come sit with you" "Ohh a new student" I said and he replied "No I'm not a new student, my dad asked me to just stay here for a few days and run a survey in the school" "If I may ask, why?" "My dad wants to buy the school" "Did you say buy?" I questioned." Yes I did, my dad can actually buy a hundred times more than this school".I sighed and told him to sit down, just don't get why the rich must be this boastful. School closed and I was heading home when Aurora and Elena came to stop me, Aurora forcefully dragged my bag and took my transport fare back home from me " Mum gave me that" I said soberly." My mum's money is my money" she said as she hissed and sashayed down the hallway with Elena. I didn't plan to walk back home today my leg still aches from this morning. Oh well like they said it's their mum's money . Many times I get tempted to use out of the money my mum secretly kept for me before she died but I need to save that for a phone. Once I'm able to get that my amateur photography would level up, my stepmom wouldn't get me one despite the fact that she got Elena who is 3 years younger than me an iPhone X. I don't blame her it's just that all stepmoms are like that. I began walking down home and on the way a car zoomed passed me and stopped exactly in front of me. The person driving the car winded down and I saw it was the guy who came to sit with me "Hey Jasmine come over" I acted like I didn't hear him and increased my walking pace, still he drove at my pace and still offered me a ride. Of course I refused but he somehow persuaded me and I did then he dropped me off exactly at my compound. Unluckily for me Aurora saw that and I knew I was in for big trouble. I told the guy thanks and entered the house only to meet Aurora looking at me furiously and her mum holding a burning pressing iron still pigged to the socket beside the three sitter sofa where she was sitting. "I'm finished" I said to my self as I walked at a snail's pace towards them. My stepmom called me to her front and I walked carefully to her then Aurora said "What were you doing with my crush, the new guy" "I didn't know he was your crush, I thought you had a boyfriend and..." She slapped me and said again"What were you doing with my crush, the new guy" "He offered me a ride" I said "And you couldn't say no!!! You weren't born to stay in cars, the pedestrian bridge was made for something" "I'm sorry" I simply said "Sorry won't solve anything most especially sorry won't get you a bail from your punishment. Mum, please make her feel hot, she must have had a cold day at school". I begged and it was to no avail . My step mom forcefully placed the iron on my right arm and I groaned in pain. I was also sent out of the house so I had to find where to sleep. I found my way to Ms Abigail's house and thank God she was a retired nurse, she helped me dress my wounds "She did this to you again?" I cried as a reply to her rhetorical question "You need to sue her" she said and I shouted NO "My dad loved her and always told me to do, I can't sue her Ms Abigail" I said then she put me to sleep. ********** I woke up ready to prepare for school when I realized my clothes and properties were at my step mum's house. "Should I just leave their house" I thought to myself, after all it's not adding any benefits to me or my life. I then went downstairs to meet Ms Abigail, she had made breakfast already " Good morning ma" "Morning darling" she said "Ms Abigail sorry for this impromptu but please do you mind if I stay in your house, I don't think I can survive at my step mum's again" "You are always welcome dear and don't bother to go there again I will get you new clothes and accessories okay?" I then pulled her into a hug and thereafter she advised I take the day off from school today to rest and I gladly accepted. Few hours later, she came back from school and told me to dress up into the new t-shirt and jeans she just got me. I then asked her the reason why we were going out and she said she wanted to take me shopping so I gladly agreed. On getting to the supermarket, Ms Abigail first got me new batteries for my cameras then we headed to the teens clothes and bought a quite number of clothes and shoes then we headed to the food section and she got me snacks to munch on. After eating she took me to the tech sectinon and got me a phone, though it wasn't an iPhone but it was one of those high class phone, a Samsung Galaxy. Soon after we went home and I couldn't help but thank Ms Abigail " Thank you so much Ms Abigail " "Jasmine I would really appreciate if you called me mum" she said . I smiled at her and called her mum then I went to my room to set things up ************************************* Next morning, I wore my uniform and followed Ms Abigail to school , she then left and went to the teacher's room. I was walking down the hallway when Aurora and Elena came to meet me "And how come did you survive the night out yesterday and who the f**k treated you wounds" Aurora said then I replied " I was lucky to find a helper" then Elena slapped me and that's how Ms Abigail came in , she slapped Elena back and told her never to touch me again then Elena looked at me devilishly and went away. It was then time for class and I headed to class. We were having Geography and the new guy came to meet me " Didn't see you in school yesterday" he said and I replied " I wanted to take the day off" "y dad got the school" he added " Oh wow" I said sarcastically. I wonder why rich kids brag this much, I snapped out of my reverie when the schools buzzer sounded and everyone headed to the hall.
