Morning came by so quickly. Lena was already awake and prepared for the task ahead. She was preparing breakfast as Kael was bringing his grandma KAEL: You’re making break fast, where is the cook? LENA: Oh I sent her and some of the servants to get some food stuff. And since I wanted to make my own break fast, I thought of making it for everyone, it’s not such a big deal. MISS HERNANDEZ: That’s so sweet of you darling. Kael you indeed brought a good wife, I’m proud of you. Kael smiled as he looked over at Lena, she also smiled back. After having their breakfast, Kael’s grandma complemented her cooking skills. MISS HERNANDEZ: You have such good home training. Your mom must have taken really good care of you. LENA: I actually didn’t really get much of my mom’s care, I also used to live with my grandma before I started college, cos my mom just never had the time, so I also had to learn things on my own. KAEL: Very interesting. MISS HERNANDEZ: I’m proud of you. She said as she patted Lena on the head. LENA: smiling Thanks KAEL: sighs We are running late, so if you are done with your little story telling can we get going. MISS HERNANDEZ: Where to? KAEL: Her new job. You know about our partnership with Aureon industries. I don’t think they are fit for this deal. I feel there’s something off about that company. So I’m making Lena keep an eye on them. MISS HERNANDEZ: ok that’s a good idea. I hope you find something and also take care of yourself dear. Lena nodded KAEL: We have to go now. Kael grabbed his keys while Lena adjusted her outfit one last time. They said goodbye to Miss Hernandez and headed out. Inside the car, silence filled the space for a few seconds before Kael spoke. KAEL: Do you remember what to do? Lena turned to him. LENA: Of course. I observe. I interact. I don’t overreact. And I report everything unusual directly to you. He looked at her, impressed. KAEL: Good. She raised a brow slightly. LENA: You sound surprised. KAEL: I’m not surprised. I’m impressed. That earned a small smile from her. When they finally arrived, the large building stood tall and intimidating. Lena’s confidence wavered just a little. Her fingers tightened around her bag. Kael noticed immediately. He stepped closer to her. Without saying a word at first, he gently took her hand. She looked up at him. KAEL (softly): You don’t have to be nervous. LENA: I’m not nervous. He gave her a look. She sighed slightly. LENA: Okay… maybe a little. He stepped even closer, lowering his voice. KAEL: You’re smarter than most people in that building. And stronger than you think. Remember that. His thumb brushed lightly against her hand. KAEL: I wouldn’t have chosen you if I didn’t trust you. Her breathing steadied. Then, before she could overthink it, he gently cupped her cheeks in his hands. Her eyes widened slightly. KAEL: You’ve got this. They stared at each other, with Kael had reassurance in his eyes. When he pulled back, her anxiety had faded. She nodded once. LENA: I won’t disappoint you. KAEL: I know you won’t. He smiled. And this time, when Lena walked toward the entrance… She didn’t look back. Straightening her shoulders, she walked inside.
