More than a deal

CHAPTER TWO

Sunlight streamed through Lena’s curtains as her eyes fluttered open. She saw Kael standing in-front of her.

LENA: (with a confused look) How did you get here?? What are you doing here?

Kael sat next to her as she raised herself up a little.

KAEL: I just thought of dropping by. Surprised huh?

LENA: Very surprised…But how did you know where I live??

KAEL: Mmm, maybe I tracked your number. (a small smirk appearing on his face)

LENA: Why??

He adjusted himself to face her.

KAEL: To see you… I couldn’t stop thinking about you, even though I just met you, I think I’ve kinda gotten used to you, no one has ever given me that kind of attention.

Lena’s expression softened. She was confused as to how a cold and broody guy had emotions.

LENA: Woah, such a broody guy with emotions. That’s new.

Kael couldn’t help but smile. He got closer to Lena, that there was barely any space between them.

KAEL: Well, it’s all thanks to you. And I think maybe, I….might have fallen in love with you.

Lena was shocked. Her jaw dropped. Her eyes widened. As she couldn’t believe what she just heard.

LENA: What? You have fallen for me? The same girl you didn’t want to be friends with? Is this a dream or what?

Kael gave a little chuckle, and placed his hand on her cheeks, the tension between them was rising, and Lena was just speechless.

KAEL: Unfortunately, this isn’t a dream, so just accept reality.

Before Lena could speak, he leaned in to kiss her.

Lena immediately got up, her eyes widened as she breaths heavily, and also calmed down as she realized it was just a dream.

LENA: (she exhales) It was just a dream, thank God.

As she got up from her bed, she got a text message. It was from Kael

KAEL: Meet me at the pier, by 10 o’clock.

Lena immediately got ready and set off to meet him.

Lena got there and saw Kael standing at the pier staring bluntly at her, she was expecting Kael to approach her, instead he turned around.

LENA: Yeah, I’m here, at your service. Do you finally accept my friendship proposal?

Kael kept gazing at the sea like he was admiring it’s beauty.

KAEL: Should I ?

He finally turns around

LENA: Of course!

KAEL: I’ll think about it.

Smiling faintly at her, Lena was shaken by his smile, since she only saw it in her dreams and not in person.

LENA: So then why did you call me here?

KAEL: You’ll find that out soon, for now follow me.

Lena wanted to ask more questions but she preferred to stay quiet so she wouldn’t annoy him.

They got to a car which had a driver in it, and Kael opened the car door for Lena.

LENA:Thanks. You’re such a gentleman despite being so broody.

Lena smiled as she sat in the car followed by Kael.

KAEL: Not surprising hearing that from you. If I wasn’t I wouldn’t have saved you the other day.

LEAN: Well. By the way, you called me to the pier, you didn’t tell me anything, you bring me here to sit in a car without telling me anything either, I don’t know where we are going to, I’m here freaking out, and I still don’t know what’s going on.

KAEL: Don’t worry, I’ll explain everything later. For now all I can say is that we are going on a mission and you have to act as my fiancé.

LENA:Fiancé?! Why? And what mission?

KAEL:I’ll explain everything after the mission, ok? Please bear with me.

Lena saw the soft expression on his face and couldn’t help but agree to play along.

LENA: Fine, but what am I getting in return?

KAEL: smirks A kiss.

Lena blushed and turned away shyly.

KAEL: Don’t worry, you’ll get whatever you want. After we are done with our mission.

LENA: Anything I want?

KAEL: Anything you want.

LENA: Oh great! Whatever it is you want me to do, I’ll do it without complaint. But then I have school, so how will I balance it with being your fiancé, Orr.. the fiancé thing is just for the mission.

Kael nodded.

KAEL: I don’t know how long the mission will take, but no matter how long it takes it won’t affect your studies, so don’t worry. The only change is that, you’ll be living with me from now on.

LENA: What! And you didn’t let me bring my things.

KAEL: You’ll get new things. You have a new life now, so just live with it.

LENA: That’s just awesome. But then why me?

KAEL: Well, I just observed how persistent you were about being my friend despite me rejecting your offer. And I just thought you would be great for this work.

LENA: smiles So do you accept it now?

Kael looked away, making Lena feel bad, because his answer might be a no.

KAEL: Yeah. Why not.

LENA: smiles Thanks. I appreciate that, I don’t really have any friends, I only have Matilda, she has been great. But at times she’s not available when I need her the most, and I thought maybe, just maybe you can be the kind of friend I need.

KAEL: Despite being so cold and broody?

LENA: giggles Yeah, being broody and cold doesn’t mean you don’t have a heart. And I can clearly see the pure heart you have in you.

Kael’s expression saddened, recalling why he’s cold and broody.

LENA: You ok?

KAEL: Yeah, mind your own business.

LENA: turns away Rude

KAEL: Anyway, you are not taking this to where we are going to, so we’ll do a little shopping before we get there. Ok?

LENA: smiles Sure.
