CHAPTER 1 "I'm Leaving!. I can't stay here any more" Juliana Evearnear yelled. " But...you can't just decide to leave" the man said "Mike, my mind is already made up. If I continue to stay here, the death of my parents will keep haunting me. I feel so sick just thinking about them" She muttered faintly She reached for the bed and gently laid on it with her eyes closed. He quickly understood. She has been through a lot of struggles as a child as a result of her real parents not being there for her. It traumatized her a lot and when ever she remembers them, it makes her sad and weak Mike Gabby felt sad seeing her go through such heartbreaking moments. But, the little he could do was to support, care and always prove his love for her. He reached out for Jully's hands, grabbed them and placed it gently to his heart while massaging her forehead. "I understand baby and I will always be here for you. But, you jus have to trust me" She opened her mouth to say something but non were forth coming. She drew her body closer to him and slept off in his arms. Mike was Juliana Evernear's boyfriend. He prefers to call her Jully instead of Juliana and she loved the name. Everyone began to call her the new name fully on her Fifteenth birthday. Mike Gabby had formerly introduced her with that name when it was time for her to dance with him. He was madly in love with Jully. She also enjoys being with him all the time. He was her childhood friend after all. She cared about him a lot but struggled to understand the whole love thing. The Tony's were Mike Gabby's parents. They took her in and raised her after Jully's parents died. They loved the chemistry between they two and had wished for them to get married someday. After getting a degree in nursing, she thought it wise to search for a better life and Job outside Indiana. "My Jully, I may not fully understand the reason for your decision. I really want you to stay with us here. I might also not be your biological parent but I've always loved and treated you like my own daughter. Whenever you miss home... My door will be wide open to receive you" Mrs Lilian Tony said, trying hard not to cry. Tears were already Welled up in Jully's eyes as Lilian Tony spoke. She was a mother she didn't think she deserved. She had picked her up from the hospital after the mother died and had raised and trained her like a daughter. She gave her all the love, care and security that every child needs without failing in anyone of them. Mrs Lilian didn't want her to leave. She started weeping as Jully drew closer to her. She opened her arms, Jully fell in helplessly and they both sobbed uncontrollably. Mr Tony Lindon watched from a distance. He also felt emotional. But he tried to keep whatever he felt in check. The atmosphere alone aggravated the heat in his body. He wiped his head and face constantly with the face towel in his hands. When Jully came to hug him, he fought back his tears and feigned a smile. "You're a woman now and I am so proud of you" Mrs Tony Lindon said. He drew closer to her and kissed her hair. Jully hugged him and smiled. " Thank you Dad" She managed to force out words from her mouth amidst tears. All this while, Mike leaned closely to the door and watched the whole drama. Jully's eyes caught his and they were both trapped in a long stare. Memories ran through their minds with each memory flipped open like the pages of a book. Mike's eyes had already lost its color, his wrinkles shrinked and his hands revealed it's veins like a transparent glass would to the water sitting comfortable in it. Sadness and pain clouded his heart. Jully pitied him and wished she could stay back. When Mike Gabby realised his countenance was making her worse, he quickly adjusted himself and gave out a weary smile. "Your bags are ready, if you keep wasting time here, you might miss your flight" Mike Gabby casually said, avoiding an eye contact with her. "You don't have to hide anything Mike. I can see through your heart and hear everything it says... It can never lie to me" She drew closer to him, pressed her chest against his body, grabbed his face and slowly kissed his.lips. The bag in his hands fell to the ground, he wrapped his arms around her waist, squeezed her body against his and kissed her back. They were caught up in their little romance that they didn't notice the presence of their parents. They stopped when their heard Mrs Tony cough. "You should get a room or better still get married" The gave out a loud chuckle and made their way to the door. Mike accompanied Jully to the airport and they bade each other one of the most difficult farewells. She has never left Indiana alone. They were always together, they went to the same college and did almost everything together. "I promise to call you everyday" Jully said " You have my word" Mike Gabby remarked " Jully!" He called "Yes" She turned to face him. "Can I ask you something?" "Sure. anything" She replied " Can you please keep your heart for me?" Jully smiled and drew the shape of a heart close to her heart "This place belongs to you. You can stay here for as long as you want" Mike Gabby smiled and watched her turn to leave until there was no trace of her anymore. Jully's journey was quite a tough one, the airplane kept acting funny. The feeling of leaving home intensified the pain she felt all over her body. When they finally arrived Alabama. She located her Hotel room and made her way straight to the bathroom. She dived into the bathtub like it was her life saver. She turned on the water and pressed her self deeply into it until the water covered her up. While she laid quietly in there, she had a dream. A man had walked into the bathroom and tried to drag her out of the bathtub. She opens her eyes and fear gripped her. She pushed her head out of the water. The water had gotten into her mouth and she already swallowed a handful of it. She coughed it out and quickly dashed out of the bathroom. She felt her body growing weaker and her eyes hurting. She scratched her eyes and held her head "Ahh!" She groaned. Her head banged with a terrible ache. The whole room felt like it was spinning right before her very eyes. She didn't understand what was happening. She reached out to her purse to take some medicine but her hands trembled and the purse fell off her hands. She fell on the bed, closed her hands and quickly wished for an instant sleep. After three days of rest at the hotel, she decided to step out and search for a Job at a hospital. She had made her research and found out the hospitals that will be needing her service and sent them her application letter. Luckily enough, it was some of the most biggest and famous hospitals in Birmingham. Her dreams were finally coming through She arrived early in one of the hospitals that already scheduled an appointment with her. The place looked big and beautiful. It was one of the most famous hospitals in Birmingham. "What is your name"? The woman who interviewed her asked. " Juliana Evearnear Tony" She answered confidently. " And... you're from Indiana"? "Yes Ma'am" she said cheerfully. "I've read through your credentials and I'm quite impressed. You seem smart too" " Thank you Ma'm". She raised her head up higher waiting to some a goodnews " But..." When Jully heard that, she raise her eyebrows and prayed silently not to her any negative comment from the woman. "We don't really need any assistance for now. If you desire to start work immediately, it might not be easy to get one now. Not just here, but other areas" Mrs Weenly Anderson said " Here Ma'm. Slipping a document into Mrs Weenly's hands. You can check them yourself. Everything you need is intact. I'm the kind of person this hospital needs. And.... I'm really hardworking. I will never let you down. It's a promise" Jully said, directing her gaze on Mrs Weenly so she could see how worried and desperate she was. "I'm sorry Miss. It's just...." I can wait for a couple of days or even weeks if you want. You're really like my last hope to getting a job right now" Jully said, interrupting the woman Mrs Weenly realizing she was too smart and not willing to give up at any moment, slipped the paper back into her hands. "I'm really sorry, but I don't have a job for you here. But, I can recommend you to a good place" Mrs Weenly sharply remarked. Jully's face lit up with brightness as she heard those words "The only problem is... It's not a hospital but a home" "A home?" Jully asked in surprise.
