Helen’s warning

1734 Words
After a fruitless search for his mate, Luke returned to his pack disoriented and unhappy. He grumbled in his seat in the office while his wolf howled in his head for his mate. Luke thought the search was going to get him closer to his mate, his men had been searching for months and found nothing, and he was frustrated. The wolves were also no help either, why would they not let him search their pack for his mate, he wasn't going to spy on them because they would be too easy of a prey but still he wasn't let in to search. “Alpha” the door opened and Leo walked into his office. “What is it?” “I know you are troubled but there is a witch here to see you” he stated. “A witch,” Luke thought to himself, ‘how was a witch able to get past their border and make way into the packhouse? “Alpha Luke” Helen walked into the office with a broad smile. “State your business here” Leo demanded standing beside Luke not giving her a chance to be alone with Luke. He believed he was there to protect Luke from any bad intentions she had for him but who was he kidding, it was the witch who needed protecting from Luke. “I have come to warn you Alpha,” she said yet the disappointed look on Luke’s face didn't change, it was like he was not bothered about her presence nor what she had to say. All Luke cared for was his mate and until such news came, he was unbothered about everything else. “The Alphas are plotting against you” she added but still no change. ‘What could really be on his mind that he would pay no heed to her or the warning she just gave him?’ She thought to herself expecting a reaction, most Alphas would fume in rage knowing that their pack was under attack but he was just calm. Too calm. “You are worried about your mate, aren't you?” she said and his eyes cast on her just as she wanted but the only issue was his eyes now on her were full of rage that she began to get scared thinking she had said something wrong. Was it f*******n to talk about his mate has she gotten herself into some kind of trouble because of that” she shrieked. Helen decided to take a bold step and back up her question. “You seek for her don't you?” she asked. His eyes didn't change and he was as silent as the night. “If you know something, tell us” Leo yelled at her instead. “Oh no, I couldn't possibly know about her whereabouts, the voices haven't told me yet,” she said. “Why mention it when you cannot help” Leo started, he knew Luke was like a ticking bomb, and he was minutes away from ripping her head off for asking for something she knew nothing about. “I will be certain to ask the voices about it and give you a response on my next visit but right now, your life is in danger and so is the life of your pack. If you do not address this issue quickly then your pack and all that is in it will be destroyed. The Alphas are plotting against you and seeking to destroy all that you have, all that your father had built” A growl escaped Luke’s lips which were not what she expected. Minutes later a black lycan was standing in front of her, enormous in size, her fear increased and she held her staff tightly wishing to disappear. His red eyes pinned on her while his Gamma did nothing but just stand there. “He is not going to hurt me, is he?” she asked Leo. “Do not move” he replied. She sat still with Theo’s terrified look on her. She had heard so many stories about how frightening his Lycan was but she had never gotten to see it with her own eyes until now. No wonder Ryan failed in defeating him, he was like a monster enormous in size. She closed her eyes embracing her fate when he walked closer to her but all she heard was the shattering of glasses. She opened her eyes to see that the Lycan was gone and the window was broken. She sighed in relief knowing that her life was secure. “I came at the wrong time didn't i?” she turned to Leo. “What do you think” he replied looking deeply at her. There was something off about Helen to Leo, it was like he had seen her before but can't figure out where. “I will be sure to come back another time” “Are you certain we haven't met before?” he asked. Helen paused to take a good look at him, he didn't look familiar neither was he one of his clients. “I don't think we have ever met before” she replied. “You are sure” he repeated to be very clear. “Positively, please do relay my message to the Alpha as it is of utmost importance that he knows about it” she implied. “I will” he replied and she left the office. Helen didn't leave immediately but sneaked around the pack house until she got to the dungeon after hypnotizing a lot of guards. Walking past each cell until she saw the spitting image of Ryan. “You must be Denver,” she asked the man bound in chains and looking weak, he had hair all over his face and bruises all over his body. “Who are you and who is asking?” he replied. “Your father told me about you and he was right that you would be locked up,” she said. “You know my father” he kept on asking. “He sent me here to check up on you. My name is Helen and I am a witch” She introduced herself to him. “Why would my father associate with a witch?” Denver asked out loud. “Don't ask me dumb questions boy, I am here to help you” She barked at him. “What did he say?” “He is asking for a little favour” “What is that” “To get a dagger in his drawer, that is all he needs to kill Luke. He wants you to retrieve it and bring it to him” she replied. “Are you crazy, there is no way I would be able to retrieve that. As you can see, I am locked in here and I haven't been out of here for months, every day is one t*****e or the other and I have had little to no food to eat. Even if I do get out of here, I can't go to his room, the packhouse is full of guards and I will be caught before I even try and that means my head would go for it. Do you understand what I mean or should I explain much further that what you are ordering me to do is impossible” he uttered. “That is exactly why I am here, to help you. Nothing you mentioned is of significant importance to me. All I need is for you to retrieve the dagger” “Did you hear a f**k of what I just said” “I did and it didn't matter to me” Denver was confused, why did she insist on him retrieving the dagger when she knew all the dangers that could happen? “What is wrong with you, are you deaf or something?” “I am here and I will help you, that is all that matters” she notified. “Okay, so what do I do?” “I will tell you what to do on my next visit, just be ready to get out of here. I don't want to hear about any excuses and don't you think you could two-time me? The only reason I am here is because of your father and his request to set you free otherwise I would be minding my business” she stated. “He really sent you” “Would I be lying about that” “Be sure to be ready when I come” she said and disappeared before his eyes. Denver was nervous and thrilled at the same time, he had thought his father had abandoned him after he escaped but it turned out he had never forgotten him. The witch may have been misleading but he was certain, the message was from his father. *** Luke returned back to the pack house after a long sprint in the woods to find Leo waiting for him with some clothes. “How long have you been waiting?” he asked. “Long enough to know that you have been away for two hours, were you able to clear your head?” Leo asked with concern. The constant news of Violet not being found anywhere had made Luke more grumpy and hot-tempered than ever. “I couldn't think of anything else but her. So no, I haven't been able to clear my head” he replied. “Hmm” “What is it, I know you did not just wait to talk about my mate?” Luke asked. Leo was already pinned to his side as they kept walking in. “It's about the witch, I don't trust her” “I have no business with her so you don't have to worry” “I feel like I have seen her somewhere and I can tell that it wasn't good” Leo stated. “It's alright Leo, I won't make any hasty decision or make any deals with her. Besides, nothing good ever comes out from coinciding with a witch. Think about all the Alphas who had died and the reason being that they had a witch with them” Luke assured him. “Okay then, be safe” Leo pulled back and let him walk to his room alone.
