Emma wasn’t supposed to be here. She was just a student in Manhattan, trying to survive classes, deadlines, and a life that felt normal enough. Parties were never really her thing. Loud music, crowded rooms, reckless nights… that was always for other people. Not her.But somehow, after a little pressure and a lot of convincing from her friends, she said yes to a girls trip. Monaco. Just a few days, they said. Just fun, nothing serious. It was supposed to be simple. It wasn’t.What started as a carefree escape quickly turned into something messy, confusing… and dangerous. Emma wakes up with gaps in her memory, nights she can’t piece together, and a feeling that something is very wrong. Then she finds it.A body. Hidden in the fridge. Now everything changes. There are people looking for her. Not just anyone… the kind of people you don’t run into by accident. The kind you don’t escape easily. And somehow, she’s right in the middle of it.In between the chaos, the fear, and the unanswered questions, Emma finds something she never expected. Love. Or at least something that feels like it. But in a place like this, nothing comes without a cost. And nothing lasts forever. As the walls close in and the truth stays just out of reach, Emma has to figure out what really happened that night… and whether she can make it out before it’s too late.Because in Monaco, some nights don’t end. They follow you.

chapter 1: The hangover.
I woke up with a splitting headache, the kind that makes you keep your eyes closed a little longer than usual. My body felt heavy, like I had just been dropped there. I was sprawled across the bed, still in yesterday’s clothes, or at least I think they were from yesterday. I tried to remember how I even got there, but nothing came. Just a blank space and this annoying pain in my head. Slowly, I opened my eyes and looked around. The room was a mess. My friends were everywhere, literally everywhere. One was half on the floor, another curled up on a chair, two of them tangled in the sheets like they gave up halfway through a conversation. Then I looked down at myself. Still in a black dress, a bit too tight now. My heels were thrown somewhere across the room. I tried sitting up. Big mistake. The dizziness hit immediately and I had to pause, holding my head before forcing myself to stand. The room tilted slightly, but I managed to move toward the balcony anyway. Outside, the air felt different. Not just fresh, but unfamiliar. I breathed in slowly, trying to clear my head. This didn’t smell like home. Not like Hightin. Then I heard it. The distant movement of people, voices, life happening in a way that didn’t feel like campus at all. And then it hit me. Monaco. I froze. Monaco? How did I get here… Then pieces started coming back. Music. Laughter. Someone shouting about a trip. “Girls night.” Forty eight hours ago I was still in Hightin University, buried in exam stress. Everything was normal. Now I was here, standing in another country, with four friends passed out behind me and no clear memory of how it happened. Something definitely happened. I think it started when I was coming back from the library. I remember Chloe first. My roommate, my best friend. She stopped me in the hallway, looking way too excited for someone in a university building. “What happened?” I asked. She just smiled. “Check the group chat,” she said, then walked away like she hadn’t just dropped a bomb in my life. I remember going into the library after that, still confused. I finally picked up my phone after days of ignoring it for exams. The moment it lit up, I saw it. Hundreds of messages. All from our girls’ group chat. I opened it slowly. They were planning a trip. A girls’ getaway. Chloe started it. Of course she did. Then Thesa, Betty, Caroline and Eliza jumped in, turning it from a joke into actual plans. I kept scrolling. Dates. Flights. An itinerary. It wasn’t just talk. It was real. And that’s when I started wondering… How did a simple group chat plan turn into waking up in Monaco with a hangover I can’t even explain?
