*Kelly's dream*
"Mom! Mom, come on, where are you?" I asked as my little ten year old legs took me to her bedroom, then down to the family room just to see nothing. I even look under the couch, but no one. Not even my little brother Alexander.
“Where is everyone?”
A loud BOOM! goes off in the basement, and I start to feel scared.
Where is mom? She should be home.
I follow the sound and go down the steps. ‘God I hope mom is ok and down here!’ My ten year old mind thought.
I made my way to the last step to see my Uncle Max. He is five years older than me, so he was about 15 around then.
My face lit up at the sight of him. "Hey, Max! What are you doing here?" Max turned around with a smile.
"Hey, little K! How ya doin'?" Max said as he sat on the floor.
"Good! Umm, Uncle Max, not that I don't mind ya being here, but umm, why are you here?" I asked as I sat down next to him.
“Well little K, if your mom saw me right now, she would be upset. That is why I am sneaking in.” He smelt like beer, and I mean a lot of it. ‘He’s never going to get a girlfriend smelling like that stuff.’ My kid brain thought.
I gave him a weird look. "Uncle Max, why do you smell like beer?" he signed and just looked up. I knew he wasn't drunk, Max didn't get drunk easily.
"Little K, I need to tell you something. I need you to know that I will always love you and protect you. I'm not leaving you ever. You are my best friend. I love you, kiddo." Max gave me a hug then left. He’s so weird.
Max and I have been best friends since the day I was born. Not only is he my uncle and best friend, but he was my godfather.
After he left, there was a loud crash coming from the living room. "Kelly, run!" I heard Max yell when he saw me at the top of the stars.
I looked around the room to see wolves. Big, huge, rabid looking wolves. I'm talking about the size of a small car.
Except for one. He was as big as a truck! Black fur and sharp teeth. He looked at me and saw I was looking at his fur and did this wolf grin. His eyes were this dark green. Not that kind that is ugly but a beautiful one.
The wolf looked back to Max, who was fighting one of the other wolves and then to me. He started to walk toward me.
I stepped back and fell down the stairs. The wolf ran down them, and before I could hit the cement floor, I was caught.
"Kelly! Get out of here now!" Max yelled again. I look up and see a man.
He was cute, but then he turned into a wolf.
The one that was chasing me.
He ran at me again, and I froze with fear.
When he was five seconds from me, his big claw swiped at my leg. I screamed bloody murder.
*End of dream*
I jumped up in the bed with a scream coming from my lips. Sweat poured off of my body.
"Kewy? Are you ok?" Tyler asked as he looked down from his bed.
"Yes, Ty, it was just a nightmare." I wish it was. "Go back to sleep." I gave him a reassuring smile and he laid back down.
Ugh that's the second time I've had that memory come out. The first was when I was in the infirmary. I thought it stopped but guess not. Why would I start having that nightmare again?
Being quiet I get up and walk to the door and go to the kitchen for something to eat.
"Why does it have to be so dark in here!" I whisper/yell to myself. With my hands out in front of me I feel something hard. I move my left hand up and feel a face. The person laughed and turned on the lights. Looking up I see icy green eyes, blonde hair and not too tan of skin. He looked like "Hey, the name is Maxwell. Who are you?" The man asked with a grin on his face.
"Kelly." I said as I walked past him. Where was the kitchen?
"If you're looking for the kitchen I can take you." Maxwell was right on my heels.
"Sure?" I held it out a little. Like I was asking a question. I followed him down the hall and then we turned right. Finally I'm in the kitchen!
"What are you doing up at this time?" Does this guy ever shut up? Rolling my eyes I look in the fridge. I wonder if there's any ice cream.
"The ice cream is in the freezer, bottom drawer. I'll get the other stuff so we can make Sunday's." he said getting up and walking over to a cupboard on the far side of the room.
He mumbled something that I didn't quite hear. "What?" I asked, turning around.
"I said, do you like caramel syrup on yours?" I nodded but remembered he was still turned to the cupboard.
"Ya. I love caramel and cherries are just the best kind of topping on a Sunday."
"So Kelly, tell me about yourself. What's your last name? Do you have a favorite color?" I started laughing cuz he was asking question after question. He feels familiar to me. Like I know him somehow.
"Yes I have a last name and favorite color. My last name is Anders, and I love any type of blue really. What about you?"
"Last name is Anderson, and I like orange." Anderson? It's so close to mine.
"It's weird, but do I know you from somewhere?" I asked Max. He looked at me and smiled.
"Little K. I've missed you so much!"
My heart stopped. "Uncle Max?"
