Chapter 1 Fancy doc
Fancy Doc
Chapter I
Last day I woke up with a nasty tooth pain. Looked like my had was bumping. As I looked in the mirror I realised it hasn’t swollen yet. That’s good. Anyway I decided to make an appointement to some dentist. Tried to reach my own doctor but I couldn’t couse it’s Saturday, so I do what anybody does: google it. I know it doesn’t sound good but I dont want to take any pills without prescription. After a few minutes I found one place I’ ve heard before, read the reviews, looked ok, nice doctors who don’t get nervous just because I’ m having a tooth pain outside their normal schedule. I reached the number and called. A nice lady took my call and made me an appointment that same day at 12 o’clock. Good! That’s how things should work!
I dont know if you are aware, bur doctors nowadays are not that nice. It’s known they have a hard time with writings (no one knows what they write, at least I never saw a prescription wrote with some right hand but with a left foot). Last time I saw a doctor I remember it was for a ginecological examination. He took some samples than I had to come back in a couple of weeks to see if the results were ok or if I need further investigation. That second time I had to see the results of my medical exam and it turned out that I had too much bacteria accumulated I needed some v****a washing tea. Grose, I know. But, that was not all. I had to endure very rude conversation, as the gynecologist asked if I have several s*x parteners. I said „No. I have a boyfriend.” Than he asked if my boyfriend has several s*x parteners cause that’s how TSD are developed . Now, that’s some piece of conversation. What can I say.. I dont really want to find out just now if my boyfriend is a cheater. Just wanna solve my bacteria problem.. Anyway, I changed gynecologist. Now I see every six months a nice lady doctor, who is very polite.
At 11.45 I opened waze and drove to dentist. Arrived just fine, thanks God I live in a relative small town, with no traffic jam, especially if it’s Saturday. I found out it was my right wisdom tooth who bothered me. The nice lady examined it and after seeing my radiology photo decided it’s time for my wisdom tooth to be pull out as it is damaged and impacted my other teeth, causing more problem to my whole upper part. As I read on the door there were two doctors with the same name: Fraser. Probably married and working togheter. Thought it was very nice to share the home and the job time. I met mrs. Fraser and found her voice was smooth and sure, made me trust her. Even said she is a friend of wisdom teeth as she saw me frightened to pull it out. The procedure took about 5 minutes than she asked me if I wanted to see that sick back molar. Of course I wanted! I saw it: with a tinny whole and a little yellow spot. She even explained that beeing a tooth placed in the back of the mouth it’s hard to clean and that she will clean it and keep it for me. Never the less, I have to mention she had a full jar of wisdom teeth . That was cool! I said that I will see my molar next time, cause she also saw two new cavities that needed to be fixed. Once my problem solved I received further intructions on how to look after myself, went home, slept and drank some milk. Thanks God it was weekend and I only had to go to work on Monday.
After 5 days, I woke up with my non tooth in pain. Actually it was my gum hurting. I got a little bit scared because I thought I had done something wrong, or maybe food got into that sort of whole and gave mrs Fraser a message explaining what it was all about. In a few moments I got a call from the clinic. A man asked what was all about, I explained, than I got an appointment for 2 p.m. That was very good so I went to work until 2 p.m. than headed to the clinic again.
I entered the waiting room and had a seat. As I waited for my turn I saw two nice young ladies gazing at my shoes probably. I smiled back feeling flattered. I dont find myself that sort of model good looking but I know I’m not an ugly woman for my 30 years old and I can see that in the eyes of the women and men that I cross every day. I just put my feet togheter and grabbed my phone to check email and maybe f*******:.
In short time I saw the doctor, I guess mr Fraser, he explained to some other pacient he will come back in no time for him an he invited me into the medical office. As I passed he held the door. I took a glimpse at his face covered with the medical masc and saw he was looking back. Our eyes crossed and I saw deep brown eyes framed by glasses. I immediately looked down to evoid eye contact and tried to stay focused on wthatever I had to do to get rid of my gum pain. Because I already knew the medical office, I walked to the clothes peg to hang my bag and the coat. Than I turned and saw the doctor and two young women, nurses, who were cleaning and desinfecting medical instruments for him. Why does he need two nurses for this? Usually, in medical offices you find one doctor and one nurse.
A soft gentle voice invited me to that specific chair. Why am I thinking at his voice instead of my gum pain? I took a sit on that chair and he lifted the chair so he could easily reach my face and I pointed the side of my mouth in pain. It was the right side. I thought the doctor smiled but I couldn’t say it for sure because of his protection mask. Suddenly I found myself thinking what would he look like without his protection mask. With all these odd thoughts running through my mind, thanks God words came out of my mouth easily and I explained once again what hapened with my wisdom tooth and so on. So far so good..
After hearing the story of my wisdom tooth he told me to open my mouth, than close it a little bit, so he could reach the rear part, were I pointed the painful spot. Doing this checking part, I felt his hip touched the right part of my body. I just couldn’t move and tried to concentrate on whatever he was doing with his hand in my mouth. In an instant he touched my painful gum and I squeezed my teeth. Hope I didn’t bite doctor’s hand. Than I realised he didn’t bother to move and his hip was still next to my upper part of right foot. I instinctively stretched my knees and thought I just had to indure few more minutes his proximity than run away fast.
Soon I found out I had no problem with my gums but it was just part of the healing process which can be a little painful sometimes. The doctor explained me as gentle as possible that there were stages of recovery that the gum shall pass without other interventions and if the pain consists than I should take some of the medicines the previous dr (mrs Fraser) prescribed. Good!
Even if the pain was still there, I was less worried about my gum and I just wanted to leave the medical office in that instant. I barely listened to what he said and realised I couldn’t help myself looking at mr Fraser who seemed really nice and understanding, with that smooth voice that made me feel I was going to be fine. Hope he thought I was in a lot of pain with my gums and not stupid and dumb.
Finally I asked how much I have to pay and where and hurried to get out of the medical office. He said it was ok, there was nothing to pay, just a routine check. Pfff... what kind of doctor does that in this country? I wished him a very nice day and thanked and I got out with my bag and coat on my left hand. I rushed through the waiting room wishing a good day to the women seated, stopped just after closing the front door and took a deep breath. I felt the sun on my face and tried to relax thinking I was never going to be back in that medical office again!
