Derrick fell on his bed and bunk over to the far end. his hands relaxed behind him, underneath his head as his thoughts, mixed with regrets and fears surrounded him.
The moment his blinked, actions of the past began to play, how he fearfully ran for five days, evading the people who were after his life.
The men had tracked him at the factory where he worked after Leah had contacted him about a possible attack. Tracing him to his home, the two men tried to assassinate him there.
Luckily for him, he was already prepared. He managed to escape but the men were behind him. They tailed him for days, with the strong intent to permanently wipe him off from the face of the earth. He verified that by the way they shot at his car when they had the chance.
It all came to a tipping point, when he had an accident. The chase was hot and demanding, that he somersaulted and rammed into a tree.
He was badly battered and bruised, but been articulate and sharp as always, coupled by his rush of adrenaline, he struggled out of the car and limped away, in hopes of escaping.
The men after him weren't done yet, they trailed him, even after his accident. When Derrick saw they acing to him, he added minimal speed, as that was what he could do at the moment.
Shots were fired, none hit him. The darkness had covered everywhere, they could barely see, but so could he. Derrick ran for his dear life, but since he was weak, injured and blindly running, he didn't see the slope up ahead.
Derrick slipped, he fell downwards with speed, rolling beneath helplessly. The end justified the cause as he ran the side of his head strongly on a rock that laid beneath. Sharply visited by the strong impact, Derrick instantly went unconscious.
When he woke up, he was clueless. He didn't loose his memory as he lied to his roommate, Sarah. His state of unawareness was because of his scene.
Firstly, he couldn't tell how long he'd been unconscious, but it was mid evening. He'd lost his phone, his car and all his valuables. The men after him must have retreated, either thinking he was a dead, or left him for dead.
Fighting the potent pain rising from his head, he fought his way up the hill. His sole aim became to locate Leah immediately, for she was right, they were not safe.
Derrick became a wanderer for two days, stack hungry and lived in vivid terror. He still watched his back, fearing that the men would be after him.
He couldn't go to the police no, if Leah was right about them being in trouble, then she was also right when she stated that their attackers, either had money, power or connection.
Derrick was positive it had to do with Leah's recipe book, and her leaving that horrible place called Gu. Just when Leah reached out to him with the news of having some important information to relay to him, she died.
Not only did he loose a friend, he lost someone immensely important. He lost his family, he lost his sister.
