595 Words
The Gu dinner table was almost empty as everyone had retired to their respective rooms, except for Tyler and his mother, Yolanda. As the help began cleaning the tables and taking away dirty dishes, Tyler sat opposite his mother and laced her a condensed look. How did they managed to remain the last ones standing? it wasn't a coincidence, Tyler had been sending signs to his mother and as expected, she was a smart woman, she understood. Tyler waited for the help to conclude with the table before uttering a word. ****** " Why did you go see her mom? " Yolanda raised a brow and proceeded to smiling broadly. " Sarah Rhodes, why did you go see her? " Tyler asked again. " You know about that, " Yolanda played, " As expected. " " I have my eyes on her. " " Just your eyes or somewhere else? " She peeked her eyes and she inquired. " Hmm, very funny. Answer the question. " " You know, " Yolanda ran her finger on the table and gently rubbed them together, she was checking for dust. " When I looked at you Tyler, I'm filled with so much pride. You are an intelligent man, I raised you well, you are my first fruit. " " Well, Olivia would beg to differ. " " Ah, never mind your sister, she's a fighter, but she's too fast. " " I thought you preached about speed. " " Acceleration, my son. When you move with speed, you lost sight of the silent things. " She sighed, " Silent things matter immensely. " Tyler never ceased to be amazed at his mother. " I want to formally congratulate you over Jacksonville head, your father successfully made you look like a piece of s**t after giving Olivia management. " " I'm the director. " " Who still needed to co-manage, does it makes sense? " " I knew it was jackshit, but I made him put me in charge over her once and for all. " " I remember him telling you to share. " " It never works out, we all know that. " ****** The two performed a short silence, where they stared keenly at each other. As if marvelling at one another's might. If Yolanda thought she was despicable, her son was her match. ******* " Say I have a children, scattered across in different locations... " Tyler silently groaned, his mother had begun again with her parables. But he would listen, somehow, she always made sense. " And I put you Tyler, in charge of the children, like a nanny. " She bent her head slightly, " But then I gave another person power, which you refused, but then you too have to share power, and you're supposed to be the higher power? does it sit well? " " Jacksonville is the heart of Gu, " Tyler heaved under his breathe. " I know that. " " I wanted her out of there. " " Because it's your turf. " His mother followed. " Everywhere is my turf. " " But Jacksonville is the biggest turf, so why did you have to share? " Tyler pushed backward, " Her... " He paused and glanced at his mother, he didn't want to mention anything about a dirt being involved. mainly because if it favored his mother, she would never tell him. Tyler wanted to find out for himself first, before letting other people know. His family was like a jungle, it was every man for himself.
