River had spent the rest of the day at Ava's house, though they went out for ice cream, and spent quality time together, Ava had shown river around Oakdale, trying her best to keep him happy, till it was dark and he went home.
The next day, river had made up his mind, to meet up with cloud whether the other liked it or not. He wore a blue hoodie, and blue jeans, had his bag on his back, and had an headset on, while music flooded his brain as he walked through the quiet road to school. He didn't bother waiting for Ava and Jasper that day, he felt like walking, to free up his mind.
After walking for 5 mins, a black sleek Sport car pulled up beside him, seeing the car already he had a guess who it was. It was definitely Jasper, he was the one from a very wealthy family, with busy parents, he had everything he wanted with just a snap from his fingers.
"Yo get in" Jasper said, river didn't hear him at first, cause of his headset on, but when the front car door opened, he got in immediately.
He took off his headset immediately and kept it in his 🎒 backpack.
"Your mom said you left early, we were worried" Ava spoke up.
"Oh yeah, I just needed to clear my mind off somethings" river responded as he arranged his ruffled hair through the car mirror.
No words were exchanged again till they got to their school, the only sound heard was Ava's humming, which sounded soo angelic and smooth.
When they got to the school, river bad goodbye to his friends as they had different class, lessons went bye, but river paid no or little attention to it, as he thought of his Meetup with cloud later in the day.
Immediately the bell rang signifying lunch break, river immediately sprinted out of the class, not minding the teacher who was still teaching. He ran down the busy hallway bumping into shoulders in the process, as he ran to Ava's class.
He was gonna keep his Meetup with cloud a secret from Jasper, cause Jasper had literally hated cloud with passion, he blamed everything that happened to river on cloud, and he wished river stayed away from him.
Luckily for river, he met Ava beside her locker, stuffing her books into it.
"Hey pretty" he grinned.
She stared at him weirdly, confused cause he was all smiley.
"Do you have anything you want to say?? She asked as if reading his mind.
River ruffled his hair unsure of how to say it, he bit his lower lips and clutched unto his bag tightly.
"Umm, I wanna ask a question" he started.
"Am all ears" she replied as she slammed her locker shut and they walked out.
"Firstly am gonna skip lunch, you can go ahead and eat without me, and here goes my question, where do you think i can find cloud now?" River bit his lips.
"Ok, I think the gymnasium, you know he's a school basketball player, so i guess he would be there" she replied as they walked towards the cafeteria.
"Why do you wanna see him?, You know Jasper won't like that" she added.
"Yeah I know, but i really wanna talk to him, about why he's avoiding me, I need to see him one on one" river replied.
"Well then, i wish you good luck, and FYI the gymnasium upstairs, I don't know if you know" she said as she pecked his cheeks and entered the cafeteria.
River chuckled as he touched the wet spot she pecked, he sighed and made his way to the gymnasium before he comes across Jasper.
🤾🤾⛹️⛹️🏟️
River peeped first into the gymnasium, it was huge and wide, it seemed like they haven't started practice yet, as everyone was hanging around.
He ran his eyes around searching for the owner of those blue eyes but he didn't seem to be in the room.
He sighed deeply.
"Ahem" he heard someone say behind him.
He quickly turned around, and was met with the face, the guy, the man he had been searching for, the man whose eyes and voice haunted and made his heart run miles.
He gulped hard as he stared unblinkingly at the other from head to toe, that was the closest they had ever been, since River lost his memory.
Cloud's messy blonde hair framed his chiseled face, and those piercing blue eyes seemed to hold a mix of emotions. River's heart skipped a beat as their gazes locked.
"You can take a picture while it lasts" cloud's voice boomed in his head bringing him back to the present.
River blushed at his voice, yes he was drooling, who wouldn't drool at the wonderful sight before him.
"Cloud," River whispered, his voice barely audible.
Cloud's expression remained guarded, but River detected a flicker of vulnerability.
"River," Cloud replied, his deep voice sending shivers down River's spine.
They stood there, the tension between them palpable. River's eyes roamed Cloud's face, drinking in every feature.
"What do you want?" Cloud asked, breaking the silence.
River took a deep breath. "I want to talk. About us. About what happened."
Cloud's eyes narrowed. "There's nothing to talk about."
River's determination surged. "There is. You've been avoiding me, and I need to know why."
Cloud shifted uncomfortably, his eyes darting around the gym.
"Not here," Cloud muttered. "Follow me."
He turned and walked away, expecting River to follow.
River quickly followed the other, to what seemed like an abandoned classroom, cloud closed the door after river got in, taking the other by surprise, as he was slammed to the door by cloud.
Their faces were inches away, and he was sure cloud could hear his heartbeat. All river wanted to do at that moment was to feel those soft seducing lips of cloud's, he stared at them continually and then down to his Adam apple which bopped up and down, as he gulped.
"C-cloud" he stuttered, not been bold enough.
"Huh??" He saw cloud's lips moved a bit, and he liked that.
"W-wwhy did you break up with me?? River asked again, his voice failed him.
Cloud did not respond to the other's question, instead he ran his hands on river's cheeks, realizing how much he missed holding and squeezing it.
"Did you get my note??" Cloud responded ignoring river's question.
River exhaled and cloud felt the hot breath which he brought out, due to how close they were.
"Well umm, yeah, I did, so I guessed well, it was from you" river Smiled and cloud chuckled.
"If you wanted me to wait for you, why then did you break up with me?" River asked the question he has been longing to ask.
"It's a long story, squirt....."
River didn't hear the rest of cloud words at the mention of SQUIRT, as his mind drifted again, the word was familiar and he felt a loud bang on his head, as if having another memory from the past.
He closed his eyes tightly, trying to hold himself from falling to the ground, as memories flooded his head.
He stayed at that position for some minutes and cloud was worried confused on what to do.
"Are you okay?" Cloud voice boomed in his head.
"Kind of" river replied brought back to reality. Cloud sighed deeply, glad it was nothing serious.
"You were saying something" river said.
"I said it was a long story, I will explain later" cloud replied as he caressed river's cheeks.
"Cloud, can I ask for a request?" River pouted.
"Your wish is my command" cloud responded.
"Kissmeplease" river said in one breath.
Cloud furrowed his brows, looking at the demanding guy beside him.
He thought for some while, though he missed kissing those soft lips, and wished he had the chance to do it, and here he was being asked to do it.
Cloud wasted no time in gently placing his lips on river's soft pink lips. River's eyes fluttered closed as Cloud's warm lips touched his. The kiss was gentle, yet electrifying.
Time stood still.
River's hands instinctively wrapped around Cloud's waist, pulling him closer.
Cloud deepened the kiss, his tongue tracing River's lips.
River's mind reeled, memories flooding back.
He remembered their laughter, their tears, their whispers.
This kiss felt like home.
"Cloud," River whispered, breaking the kiss.
Cloud's eyes locked onto River's.
"Squirt?" Cloud asked, his voice laced with concern.
River smiled.
"I remember," River said, his voice trembling.
"Remember what?" Cloud's eyes searched River's.
"Us," River replied.
