VI. Mates

I am unsure about the reaction Jane had when she found out we were mates. I had my suspicions, but I didn't think it was possible for a wolf to find a mate that is a vampire.

But she isn't a vampire. Well, she isn't just a vampire. She is a hybrid, whatever that means. I am still trying to understand what this all means or how it all works, it is just confusing. The only thing I really know for sure is that her father, the werewolf prince, was her father. How she never realized that before she became a vampire I don't know.

Still, she was in danger. Whoever killed her parents was strong enough to kill a royal. And they would pay for what they did to my kind. It wasn't just a wolf the vampire monarch killed, it was the future of werewolves.

She was complicated, but she was my mate. I knew a defensive mate when I saw one. I was sure that it was her wolf that triggered my mate bond, but I still couldn't believe how complicated her life was, is, and I doubt it is going to get any easier.

As I reached the pack house I began to hear my Beta's voice in my mind using our mind link,'Are you okay?'

'Yeah, I'm good.'

'You sound....different.'

'Well, there is some news.' I thought hesitantly.

'What is it? Is it the Bats? '

'Bats? Really Luke?'

'Hey, Quill came up with it. Anyways what's the news?'

'Well, two things, you know that girl Jane ?'

'That hot vamp, the one who looked like she could kill one of us in bed if you know what I mean?' Luke thought and I swear I could see him wiggling his eyebrows.

'If I were you,I'd shut up.'

'Okaay! What about Jane?'

'It turns out her real dad was a werewolf and not any type. He was the prince. The Alpha King's son.'

Luke gasped, 's**t. How is she a vampire then? '

'I don't know. It's all very new to them, but that's not all. Her mom was a witch, sister of the Grand Witch.'

'Royalty times two.' Luke gasped,'Oh, Quill is so dead.'

'And there is also another thing.'

'Okay.'

'As Beta, promise me you won't say s**t. If you do, I will personally kill you.'

'Okay, okay. What was news number two?'

'She's my mate.'

"YOU'RE MATE!" Luke screamed aloud just as my foot was on the door. Everybody turned to look at me.

I growled and everyone quickly turned back around.

'God damit, Luke.'
