VII. A Strange Idea

As we walked into the school building, hundreds of eyes began to stare and gossip. We were the new kids, but the fact that we added two more to the mix made it even stranger than three kids transferring in the middle of the semester.

The new students were always the center of attention, and since we were a big group it was understandable. Humans stared at us, everyone wondering who Eros and Qira were. And to be honest, so were we. Sara had set up a story that pretty much stated that they were Abigails Russian cousins who were sent here to study abroad. Sara had managed to bribe the school into letting our new friends into school, even if there was a setback.Their eyes. Vincent had to quickly cover their eyes with gold contacts and give them a quart of animal blood to make them not so human-blood-crazy for a couple of hours. Reducing the bloodlust to a tolerable state would be hard for them, adapting and curving our natural diet is hard on its own. But to just throw Eros and Qira into high school without much experience, well the rest of us were on guard.

But, for God's sake, reading their minds during the entire first period.

'Blood this, blood that!'

'I want his blood.'

'I'm thirsty!'

'She is so irritating why don't I just drink her?'

Luckily for us, Eros, my fellow mind reader, read my thoughts and helped me by controlling himself as well as his sister.

When the lunch bell rang, I sighed in relief. I pulled out a thermos of animal blood for the blood crazed siblings.

"How do you manage? This is torture." Eros gasped as he passed his sister the thermos and sat down next to Abby. Kenneth sat to my right then Abby, Qira and then Eros."Think of it like this, humans are hormonal, developing creatures with acne, think of that everytime you want to drink a person, that did the trick for me," I said easily, "You are what you drink, after all?"They shuddered,"Gosh, you ruined my next hunt." Kenneth groaned.

"My pleasure." I grinned as they passed me back the empty thermos."Hey, you're Jane, right?" A werewolf girl said as she sat down in the empty space between Abby and Qira. We were sitting on a round bench table so doing so was an ease."Yeah, why?" I said kindly though I was slightly annoyed by the sudden amount of wolf girls.'They are not wolves, they are human born to wolves. Remember when the werewolf gene began disappearing when your grandfather died. This was the result. 'Eros' voice said in my mind."Well, I heard a crazy rumor running around saying you're a vamp werewolf. " she said as she twirled her hair around her finger, "Crazy, huh?""Well not as crazy as this b***h stealing my boyfriend." Linsey suddenly said as she arm locked me."Vampires don't really need air sweetie," Qira smirked."And remember the treaty?" I added easily even though the arms around my neck.Linsey didn't budge, it took a thunderous voice for her to let me go, "Let. Her. Go."As soon as her hands were off of me, I turned to see Robin glaring at Linsey."S-s-sorry."She stuttered."Don't apologize to me, is her you should ask. There is a treaty in line here." He said in an unrecognizable tone."Sorry, Alpha."She said, directing herself at me. I froze.Alpha?'You're the Alpha King's child, therefore the Alpha by birthright,' Eros explained.'I now that, nitwit. I just didn't realize what I was until. . . '"It's alright. She didn't do any actual harm." I said as I calmed down, "I was more worried she'd harmed herself, actually. ""I'm okay, sorry again." She said and walked away and I turned around to look at Robin."Sorry about all that." Robin said then scrunched his nose, "What's that? " he said as he pointed to the thermos"It's for these two blood-crazed," I said pointing back with my thumb at Qira and Eros.He chuckled, "See you around, Janeane.""Don't call me that. " I said in a deadly serious tone. I instantly regretted it, it came out the wrong way."Fine, bye Vampgirl ." He said amused and walked away."What was that?" Abby asked."So nosy," I told her."Poor, Robin. "Qira silently muttered"Why?" I asked then to read her mind.'He just wants to claim her as his mate, to the entire pack.'"Oh."I blocked my thoughts from Eros, knowing he would want to hear what I thought.He was like me, Robin had been teased for his lonesome ways. God, I felt guilty and hurt that he'd been hurt because of me.

I shuddered, I felt strange. I felt cold and then hot one instant and then nothing the other. I tried to calm down, but not knowing what was going on inside me, what has been going on inside me, well I felt anxious.

I opened my thoughts. and looked innocently as Eros observed me."What?" I asked annoyed."Nothing, nothing. " he defended and blocked his thoughts from me, too.As the bell rang, dismissing us from school, I remembered the note.Making sure that my thoughts were blocked, I remembered fifth periods when I asked to go to the bathroom and superseded to Robin's locked (which I followed him to as we left lunch ) and slipped a note that read:Meet me at the Bear Cliffs at 6.As I passed his car, he smiled and nodded, he got the note, "What was that?" Abby asked."Nosy. "I teased."Shut up." She said as she pushed my shoulder playfully.We got in the car and drove away."So, where are you going to meet him? "Abby asked as she did a cloaking spell on my room. I hadn't realized she followed me until we were both standing in the same room."Whats the shield for?" I asked unsure of the purpose of it."Locks in noise, so no one else could hear. How do you think me and Ken do it without everyone noticing? ""Oh, god, too much information didn't need to know that.""You will." She said with a wink and wiggle of her eyebrows."God, you're annoying. ""So where is your Romeo-?" then like if she realized something, she gasped."What?""You're so like Romeo and Juliette. Vampires are like Capulet and werewolves are the Montegues. Oh, crud. No. No, no. We are all accepting your relationship with the hot werewolf. But Zetrova is like your knife and poison. But-""Is not even the first date and you're already planning my death. Thanks for the encouragement, Abigail. "I hissed."It will be fine, don't be so tense .""It's not only that, Abigail. It's everything that is going on. The evil vampire, the new powers, the fact that I've been so ignorant of my own body all my life. I feel....unsteady."I mumbled and sit on my bed.

"But Robin makes it worth it, right? I thought my life was complicated before I met Ken, but he makes it easy and worth it.""I hope so," I said, but I wasn't very confident. Something bothered me, but I couldn't tell what it was. Everything was different and everything around me was changing. "Now, let's get you ready."I snapped out of it and looked at her. "No." I was not going to let this fashion maniac dress me."Yes." And she appeared her makeup bag with magic."No."I resisted."Yes." She insisted"I hate you sometimes. "I told her, giving up."Well, you'll love me for what I'll do to you." She squealed and began working on me like a cheetah. I was fully makeup -ed in three minutes. But then she dragged me out of the chair of my vanity and took me to my closet that had a shower as well. She frowned at my closet, "Don't you have anything that's not black or denim?""Well I want him to like me becauseof me, not made up me. " I pointed out."Girl, he is all over you. He growls everytime some guy looks at you wrong. This will make you irresistible.""Oh, gods, what am I doing?"
