**Blood and Moonlight**

Elena Voss grew up understanding exactly what she was worth to the Voss pack — not much, as long as she was useful. Daughters in wolf territory aren't raised to inherit power; they're raised to trade it away. So when her father's debts to the Kastellan family grow too large for money to fix, Elena isn't surprised to learn she's the solution. She's spent her whole life being one.

The Kastellans are old blood and older cruelty — a pack that didn't just survive by being ruthless, but built an empire on it. Damir Kastellan, the heir she's contracted to marry, has a reputation that precedes him into every room: cold, calculating, dangerous enough that grown wolves lower their eyes around him. Elena arrives at his family's estate braced for exactly that kind of man.

What she finds instead is more complicated — a version of Damir who is unnervingly honest, who seems to resent the arrangement as much as she does, and who watches her like she's a puzzle he hasn't decided whether to solve or destroy. And then there's Kiran Aldric, head of the Kastellan security detail, whose easy warmth cracks something open in her that she didn't know was still capable of being cracked. He isn't supposed to want anything for himself. Neither is she.

As the wedding date closes in, Elena finds herself caught between two men bound to the same dangerous house — one she's contracted to marry, and one she's forbidden to want. Around them, the fragile peace between packs is unraveling, old debts are resurfacing with teeth, and every alliance in the Kastellan territory is built on a foundation that could collapse the moment someone chooses love over loyalty.

Elena came to this house to survive an arrangement. She never expected it to cost her the one thing she wasn't allowed to have a say in — her own heart.

*Blood and Moonlight is a slow-burn dark romance following one woman caught between duty, danger, and two impossible choices — where every kind of love comes with a price, and not every debt can be paid in blood.*

Chapter One - The Contact
The dress they'd chosen for me was the color of old wine, and it fit like a decision I hadn't been allowed to make. Elena Voss stood in front of the mirror in her father's house — soon to be someone else's house, soon to be someone else's *name* — and watched her reflection like it belonged to a stranger she pitied a little. "You'll want to smile tonight," her mother said from the doorway, fastening an earring with hands that trembled just slightly. "Even if you don't mean it." "I know how this works, Mama." Elena's voice came out steadier than she felt. Nineteen years of being the Voss pack's only daughter had taught her exactly how this worked. Alliances weren't built on love. They were built on daughters. Her father's debts to the Kastellan family had grown too large to survive another winter — not money, not exactly, but territory, blood, the kind of debt that only meant something to wolves. And the Kastellans, ruthless and old and richer than sin, had offered a solution that cost the Voss pack nothing but her. Marry the heir. Save the pack. Simple math, if you didn't count what it took out of a person to be the answer to somebody else's equation. --- The Kastellan estate looked like something built to be feared before it was built to be lived in — black iron gates, floodlit stone, dogs that weren't dogs pacing the tree line just close enough to be seen. Elena's car rolled up the long drive, and she made herself breathe slow, the way her aunt had taught her before every full moon since she was small. *In for four. Hold. Out for four.* It didn't work as well on nerves as it did on shifting, but it was something to hold onto. The heir was waiting on the steps when she arrived. She'd expected cruelty in his face — she'd heard enough about Damir Kastellan to expect it, the stories that traveled through pack territories like weather, about the things he'd done to consolidate his father's empire before he was even twenty-five. What she got instead was worse, in its way: he was beautiful, dark-eyed, unreadable, watching her get out of the car with an expression that gave her nothing to work with at all. "Elena Voss." He said her name like he was testing its weight. "Damir Kastellan." She lifted her chin. If he wanted to unsettle her, she wasn't going to make it easy. "I was told there'd be a contract to sign, not a coronation." Something almost like amusement crossed his face and disappeared. "My father likes theater. I apologize in advance for the toasts." "You're not the one who has to smile through them." "No," he agreed. "I just have to marry the woman giving them a reason to." It wasn't warm, whatever passed between them in that moment — but it wasn't nothing, either, and that unsettled her more than outright hostility would have. --- She met Kiran an hour later, in the crowded ballroom, spilling a glass of champagne down the front of her dress by mistake and swearing under his breath in a way that made her laugh before she could stop herself. "You're not supposed to laugh at the help," he said, dabbing uselessly at the stain with a napkin. "You work here?" "Head of the Kastellan security detail. Which apparently includes champagne triage." He looked up at her properly then, and something in his gaze sharpened — recognition, maybe, or the specific attention of a wolf clocking another wolf's scent under all that perfume and nerves. "You're the bride." "I'm the *arrangement*," Elena corrected. "There's a difference." Kiran didn't laugh at that. He studied her for a beat too long, like he was recalculating something. "There usually is," he said quietly, and something about the way he said it — not pity, not quite — made her chest go tight in a way she didn't have a name for yet. Across the room, she felt Damir watching them. She didn't need to turn around to know it. Some instinct older than good sense told her exactly where his attention was, the way a compass needle finds north whether or not you asked it to. --- Later, on the terrace, away from the noise, Damir found her again. "Kiran Aldric," he said, without being asked, leaning against the balustrade beside her, close enough that she could feel the low thrum of his presence like static before a storm. "Good at his job. Loyal to a fault. You should be careful with him." "Careful how?" "He doesn't survive well when he wants things he isn't allowed to have." Damir's eyes stayed on the dark tree line beyond the gardens, not on her, though she had the distinct sense he was watching her anyway — the way wolves watched things without needing to look directly at them. "Neither do I, for what it's worth." Elena turned that over, unsure whether it was a warning or a confession or both at once. "Is that supposed to comfort me?" "No." For the first time all night, something genuine slipped through the composure — a flicker, gone as soon as it appeared. "It's supposed to be honest. I thought you'd rather have that than the theater." She didn't have an answer for him. Somewhere behind them, through the tall glass doors, the string quartet slid into something slower, and her mother's voice rang out thin and bright, announcing the toast that would make this arrangement official in front of two hundred witnesses who all understood, better than Elena herself did yet, exactly what she was being traded for. She looked at Damir — unreadable, dangerous, watching her like she was a problem he hadn't decided whether to solve or create — and then, without meaning to, back toward the ballroom, toward Kiran, who was watching them both from across the room with an expression he wasn't quick enough to hide. *Careful,* Damir had said. Elena had a feeling the warning wasn't really about Kiran at all. It was about herself — about the fact that she'd walked into this house prepared to survive an arrangement, and instead, in the space of one night, had found two entirely different reasons to be afraid of wanting something she wasn't allowed to choose. Somewhere out past the tree line, a wolf howled, low and long, and the whole estate seemed to hold its breath around it. The contract would be signed by morning. Elena wasn't sure anymore which parts of her life it would actually control.
