"Then why are you here?"
I focused my eyes on her. Even though it had only been a short while since we'd first met, I could tell from the look in her eyes that she was ready to hear my experiences without passing judgment on them. It's almost as if I ran into another Anne Marie right here in this place.
"So that the child I am carrying now will be safe from all of the despair."
Her eyes grew noticeably larger. "S-so, are you expecting a child?"
I nodded. "And you separated the child from his father, didn't you?" The news that she received clearly sent her into a state of panic. I have a hard time laughing because I remember Anne in her. Somehow, I felt guilty for leaving her.
"I kept the news secret because I intended to surprise him on our wedding day," I told her.
"What? You're supposed to get married? Wait, I can't take it!"
She took some water to drink, and despite the fact that it was quite chilly where we were, she unfolded her fan and fan herself.
"Not only am I concerned about you, but I am also concerned about my brother. I am aware that the individuals that surround him, particularly you, are wealthy. What kind of punishment are they going to give my brother if they discover that he hid you here from your husband? And yet you're pregnant with your ex!"
"Your brother doesn't know that I'm pregnant. And I'll make sure he doesn't get hurt because of me. So don't worry; if they find me, I won't let your brother be harmed.
She seemed to be breathing a sigh of relief. "I can't believe it. That's why I don't want to get married; guys make life complicated."
I couldn't help but giggle at her accusation.
"Why? Have you never experienced the joy of falling in love?
I observed that she reacted in a different manner. "N-not quite yet." However, it appears as though she is lying because I noticed a blush appear on her cheeks.
"How about a crush? Do you have a crush?"
"Since I never leave the house, it's impossible for me to have a crush on anyone," she stated.
"No way! You seem to have a lot of suitors. Maybe one of them is your crush, Danica," I teased, which made her more flustered.
"You're wrong, Sheen! You know what? Let's just eat!"
Before deciding to quit making fun of her, I chuckled at her expense. I was relieved since she purchased pork on a sizzling plate that was prepared in the form of little cubes and served alongside onion and chili. Today was the first time I tried it, and it did not disappoint in the least. It would taste great with beer, but I am not used to drinking that, and I am not allowed to since I am pregnant.
After we ate, she invited me to the fair. The thought came to me that we came perfectly on time because I could see that there was something going on in the middle of the plaza. But my smile suddenly left me, and I can't help but remember the time when Jhon Rey and I went to a fair.
Fortunately, Danica and I went to a place where I had never been before. She led me to the game where the one who gets to throw the coin into the box will get a prize. She mentioned that one of her goals in this game is to get that set of plateware because the pattern is quite attractive and elegant. She must be a fan of collecting kitchenware, but she never uses it until there are important guests in her house. I concurred, and all of our coins were used up trying to obtain that prize. I believe that if we just bought, we would end up saving more money.
My joy vanished as soon as I laid eyes on the enormous Ferris wheel. Even if it's not as tall or as lovely as the ferris wheel I rode with Jhon Rey, the fact that it's still the same ferris wheel brought back memories of him. Because I am constantly reminded of him, it is practically impossible for me to forget him. Because regardless of what I see, I remember him.
We heard a quite loud voice from the middle of the square. And there I noticed a small stage with a talking woman announcing what time it was. I didn't realize that Danica and I had reached midnight outside.
We walked there because we were curious about what was going on in the middle. The song slowed down, and the lights danced in the air. Wait, is this some sort of dancefloor where everyone will dance in couples? What kind of fair am I in now?
"Aren't we going home yet?" I asked because as long as I can see couples around me, I can't help but feel lonely and uncomfortable.
She gestured toward the people who were gathered in the middle of the plaza and exclaimed, "Look, someone is dancing!" Men and women are seen dancing together in couples while hugging each other.
I heaved a sigh. How I long for the day when Jhon Rey and I can dance together like that.
Danica and I were about to sit down on the bleachers when someone approached us. It was Rey John, and I don't know the name of the other guy, but my guess is that he is Neil, whom they were referring to earlier. Danica caught the attention of the man, who had a tanned complexion, which contributed to his manliness. Even though his hair has a slight wave to it, it is impossible to argue against the fact that he is one of the most attractive guys in this place. And he looks rich.
"Danica, how stunning the stars are tonight, and it seems as though they are shining especially brightly for you as if you were their queen."
What the man said left me completely dumbfounded. I did not believe that those phrases would come across as emotionally appropriate if they were spoken by a local. I gave him a perfect score of 10 out of 10.
"I'm their queen, so just like them, you can't reach me either."
The fact that Danica blocked the poor man completely took me by surprise. Sad! His pick-up line couldn't afford to even reach Danica's little finger. It looks like someone will come home early and complain.
"Miss Beautiful, can I have a dance with you?"
Someone asked me which surprised me even more.
