The small pictuer of a grinning South while her arms wrapped in a choke hold around my neck make my heart flutter. I fix my hair in the mirror of the boy's locker room.My height making me stand on my tippy toes to look at the miroor. "Hey,bro.Why are you so nervous?You are going to ask South out for prom not like you are asking Allison.",Aliistar said snorting. I roll my eyes at him.Allison maybe the cute and popular girl in highschool but South is more important to me than Allison. South loves music and she is in our highschool band.I may act like I don't care what she do or tease her all the time. I like her.Even though it is like breaking the main rule of friend zone. I lock my locker and take the rose I brought for her. I heard her talking to one of her friends how it is romantic for a boy to give a girl a rose. I tuck the fresh rose's bouquet on my jean's pocket which seems to be small to contain the twenty roses in one place. I shrug nonchantly."Let's go,Romeo.Finally my boy has the gut to tell South his feelings!",Luke said wiping a fake tear and yelling in a high pitch almost dying seal voice. I roll my eyes laughing."You all would be same if you knew her anger.",I said to them."Yeah,yeah. We know. She ignores you all the time yet you go for her all the time.",Xander scoffs slamming his locker shut. "She doesn't... ignore me.She is just busy.",I said shrugging. My mood dropping."Yeah,she is busy ignoring you. ",Xander snorts.I glare at him. "What did you said!",I snap angrily looking at his 6'1 with a glare. "Ok,Romeo.Let's not get protective over South.You have to ask her out. So,let's not fight.",Allistar said as I glare at Xandar who has a annoyed look. I turn on my heels to go to South barging out of the locker's room."Are you coming?",I heard Luke said to Xandar."I would like some drama.",he said.Asshole! I wait outsde the locker room.The bell rings.The boys comes.I don't talk with Xandar but we start walking towards the canteen where all students are probably are right now. I glance around the busy filled with chattering noise canteen."Adrian,there.",Luke said pointing to the brunette sitting on her seat stuffing her mouth with fries as her hair is pulled in a messy bun.Her over size white t-shirt and khaki shorts making her look cute. I approcah her table. She isn't popular like others she mingles with but I guess popularity comes when a girl is a drummer,straight A student and a bubbly person which is everything she is and more. I tap on her shoulder.She turns with a confused look."Adrian?",she said smiling by somehow it looks fake and her one hand automatically goes to my left hand where I have a joined thumb which is the reason I have six thumbs. It is like a sign for her that it is actually me. "I have to say something.",I blurted out.The girls in her table gives me looks.I ignore them. "You just said 'something'.Now,go shoo.",she jokes. "Haha.Nice joke but listen.",I said and go on one knee."I have ears for listening,Reynolds.",she said with amusement as I go on one knee. She looks confused still not getting it. I take out the roses and strech my arm at her."Will you go out with me?",I ask her hopefully.The girls behind her gasps and the whole canteen goes to a pin drop silence. "I went out with you, tomorrow,too, remember?You,me and our moms?For shopping?",she said as a matter- of- fact. "No,not like that.Like go to a date with me.Maybe be my prom partner for our junior prom.",I ask her.Her brown eyes seems to widen with shock.She pushes her spectacle to her nose and looks at the roses in shock. "No!",she whispers looking down and get off her chair quickly."What?",I ask shocked."But why?",I ask her as she takes a step backwards from me looking down. "We just can't.",she mumbles and turns to run but I hold her wrist tightly. "Is it about friend zone and all that?",I ask her. "It is nothing like that.",South said sternly. "Leave her,Adrian!",Sam said freeing South's wrist from my hold.Sam maybe South's close friend who once framed me infront of her parents that I was her 'boyfriend' and I let it happen for South even though my mom was furious to know she framed me but I let it slid down considering a favour Sam can't stop me,now!"No,Sam!Why does she not want me? Do you have a boyfriend?",I ask South. South looks angry, now."Shut up, Adrian.I don't want to talk my dating life infront of everyone!Shut up!",she hisses looking around.I could care less. "You rejected me infront of everyone!",I yell.All eyes of canteen on us with different emotion looks. Some of them has their phones out.But I could care less. "So,what?It hurted your male ego!I didn't asked you to ask me out.",she snaps shooting daggers at me. "South, it is not like that or about my ego.Just tell me!",I shot back as Luke pulls me back trying to handle me but I approach South holding her shoulder.I and her are of same height.Five foot two. "Because you are short!",she snaps swatting my hands away from her shoulder and pushing me away. My heart seemed to shattered in million pieces."What?",I ask holding the corner of the table for support.She sighs and looks at me with her brow eyes through her thick rimmed glasses. "You are cute and all but you are just not for me.",she said and turns to leave when Xandar grabs her wrist. "Tell us why you think my friend isn't enough for a b***h like you!",Xandar spats.South yanks her hand from xandar. "Because he lacks height!If I stand beside him I look like a mom beside his son! Admit it or not girls like me want tall boys to date and love.It is my choice.If that makes me a b***h then I am fine with it. Adrian trust me,it is better off if we are friends.And besides I don't want to date in highschool.I'm happy with my studies.",she said the last part sighing and softly.
