Still a baby?!

1788 Words
I exclaimed in my mind. It is a message from Lenard! Lenard: I know that you are still awake. I left your gift at your front door. Then there was an emoji of heart after it. Because I was caught off guard, I didn't reply. Honestly, I'm so excited about the gift that he took home for me. I'd wait a few more minutes before I would quickly sneak out my door to get it. Lenard’s POV Sophie still looks so beautiful. For two long years, not meeting her personally, I can tell that she has matured a bit by the looks, except for the attitude, because she's still arguing with her dad. If I am to be asked, I will let her choose what she wants to, but this household is still under Dad’s supervision so everyone should follow his rule. I understand that Dad has the best of intentions as to why he is pressuring Sophie to embrace the business world. This is our life, and we should live with it. Mom does not have a voice in this house. I know that she supports Sophie, but she couldn't do anything. I waited for Sophie to reply to my message, but she didn't. She saw it, obviously, but I don't know if she went out her door and picked the gift that I left her for her. Two years away from her is a favor for me. My way of avoiding her- Yeah, I am trying to avoid my feelings towards her. I conditioned my mind and my heart that I should regard her as my sister, because that is what should be. The thing is, as time goes by while she’s maturing, I can't really control my feelings for her anymore. I knew that Mom and Dad would hate me if they found out about this, so I tried hard to hide my feelings for my sister. As ugly as it sounds, I love my younger sister-romantic love. Maybe I'm not an animal in this situation because I know that she's not my biological sister and maybe it's normal that I'm attracted to her. Yes, she is beautiful, kind and she have a quality that I really like that I can't explain. I entered different relationships so that I could forget my feelings for Sophie but none of them lasted long because I couldn't give everything to those I matched with. I still have different feelings for Sophie which I know is totally forbidden. I don't know if I'm right in my observation that Sophie seems to like me too, but it's hard to assume. I don't want to take all her actions towards me as she likes me. I force into myself that all the tenderness she conveys to me is for her older brother. This is a very difficult situation for me because I know that I will collide with our whole family if I force my feelings for Sophie, I don't know, I don't know what will happen in the next few days, but I really hope that I can hold back because that's what should be out of respect for our parents and the people around us. I'm 31, an age where right and wrong are well known. I do not exactly know how to convince Sophie to enroll in business, but I will try. If I fail, then I know that God will understand me because he knows how hardheaded Sophie is when it comes to her decisions. Yes, she is not the typical kind of a child who beys her parents all the time. Although she is respectful and does her best in her life, especially in her studies, she is someone who you cannot command of what she must do. She knows her rights and she stand for it. That is what I liked about her the most. The next morning, I woke up earlier because I had plans on how to speak with Sofie alone. I will take her out for breakfast. I got prepared, then went straight to her door and knocked. It took her few moments before she finally opened the door and was obviously surprised to see me standing. She obviously just got up because her hair is still messy. “Good morning, darling baby.” I greeted. I called her darling baby ever since, while Mexie is called sweetie. Sophie snorted at me while she was rubbing her eyes. “What is it?” “Get ready. We're going to have our breakfast somewhere. I will wait for you in my car. Be quick.” After that I quickly left. That is my way of informing her that I do not take no for an answer. “No!” I heard her scream, but I just raised my hands in the air. I know her, even if she says no when it comes to invitations like this, just don't speak with her about business, she sure will come. Sophie’s POV So embarrassed with Lenard standing by my door. I didn't expect him to be the one knocking. I thought it was mom. I buried my face and my two hands while screaming in disgust. I am sure that I look so disgusting with my morning looks. But when I remembered what he just said that we are going out for breakfast, I quickly ran to the washroom and cleaned myself. This means that only me and him will be having breakfast together! At last, we will have a moment together without Dad interrupting. I wore a simple casual attire, but I made sure that I looked good. I must make him see that I have already matured, even in my clothing. Before he left two years ago, he used to tease me on the way that I dress. Then I would feel embarrassed all the time because he was right. One of the most embarrassing moments that I remember was during the time he introduced his girlfriend who looked so stunning. She dressed well and was so pretty that I felt so small to myself. I really hated that moment and promised myself that I would learn how to dress properly- I did. Checking on my appearance and making sure that I looked awesome, I set foot from my bedroom. I went straight to his car, parked in front of the house without looking at him. Dad was busy reading the morning newspaper in the garden. Yep, I am not in the mood to even greet Dad good morning. I know that he knows the reason why. Every time he upsets me about a business college, I will not speak with him for a day or two. That is my way of sending him a message that I will not and will never do what he wants me to become. It is not my fault if I have not taken after him when it comes to their ability and their passion in the business industry. But he must also understand that I might have taken after Mom, who is so fond of writing her novels. By the way, my mom is one of the bestselling romance novel writers of all time. She is someone who can write in all kinds of genres, but she stands out in romance novels. That explains why I am into liberal arts; I have taken after Mom period. "Someone arrogantly passed in front of me and didn't seem to see anything but was just asking me for allowance." Dad shouted in annoyance, but I ignored him. It is true that I am still dependent on them, but it should be because he is my father, and I am his obligation. “Did you hear that!?” I asked Lenard, annoyed as I sat in front of his car. With the strength of Dad's voice, it was impossible for him not to have heard that. Lenard just let out a laugh that seemed to annoy me on purpose. “So, I am also ludicrous for you huh?” I grumbled and glared at him. But he quickly defended himself. “It is not like that; it is just that Dad’s statement is hilarious. That's it. I resigned from arguing with Lenard. I know that this is not my plan for going to breakfast with him. Somehow, I want to show him that I have matured a little. It is for him to see that I am not a baby anymore. After a few more minutes, we parked in front of a restaurant. He was quick to go out and open the door for me and it was a wow because I finally felt like I am a lady for him. He took the menu before he asked me after we settled down. “What do you want?” “As usual.” I answered casually while pretending that I was busy on my phone. I do not know, but I suddenly felt nervous when I noticed him staring at me. It made me feel uncomfortable. “No phones please. We are here to talk about something, baby.” “Gosh, I'm not a baby anymore!” I disagreed with him. I really hate it every time he calls me a baby as if he treats me like one. I hate the feeling that he might take my feelings for him as puppy love as how he treats me when the day comes that it has to be disclosed. I am already 21, perfect for a young adult my gosh! “Oh okay, okay. I am sorry, don’t be mad now.” He was quick to console me with his handsome smiles. I am defeated again! My smiles started to blossom after that. I was happy with Lenard because until we finished eating breakfast, he never mentioned about me enrolling in business school. I just sat there staring at him from time to time waiting for what he had to say next. "Are you busy all day? I have nothing to do today because the turnover ceremony is moved. The schedule has been moved to Monday because they are still waiting for other investors to come from abroad." He explained that my heart skipped a beat because I felt he was going to invite me to spend the whole day with him, so I quickly answered. "Nothing since there is no school during Saturdays." "Okay, then let's spend the day together." After he said that, he quickly stood up to go to the car, indicating that I had to follow him. I smiled because I thought I would be alone with him all day. I'm excited about what will happen!
