The love that could't be.

Chapter 3

Throwing the cover off of me I slip on my shoes and tip toe to the kitchen.

Opening the refrigerator I grab two apples and two boiled eggs. Looking around I run towards the door unlocking it before running through the fields.

Looking through the window of the different houses I didn't see the girl until I come to the last house.

Looking through the window I see she was asleep.

"Pssst". I whisper and she stirs around.

"PSST". I say louder this time and she sits up rubbing her eyes.

"What you doing hea". She whispered covering herself with the blanket.

"I bought apples and eggs". I said and she sat there staring at me.

"Come on". I said looking behind me to see if anybody was coming.

She looked like she was trying to decide if she was going to come or not before she got up slipping on her shoes.

Putting the apples and eggs down I help her out of the window. Once she was down a light cut on in one of the houses.

Picking up the apples and eggs I put them in my pockets before grabbing her hand I start running through the field before coming to a lake kind of far from the field.

Taking a seat on the log she stands there rubbing her arm.

"Come sit down now I ain't gone hurt you". I said pulling the apples and eggs out of my pocket.

Walking over she takes a seat far away from me. Holding the Apple and egg out to her she takes them and looks at them.

"What is it". She asked looking over at me.

"Apple and egg". I said looking back at her.

"A-ap-apple and E-eg-egg". She said smiling causing me to smile.

"Yeah Apple and egg". I said taking a bite and I looked over to see her looking at me before hesitantly taking a bite.

"Good huh". I ask and she nodded.

"How old is ya". I ask and she looking away from the water.

"I's nine at least that's was my mama tells me". She said and I nod.

"I'm ten". I said and it was silent after that as we continued to eat our apples.

"How you eat this hea". She asked holding the egg out to me.

Taking it I peel it before handing it to her.

"What you doing out hea with massa's son". I heard someone say causing us to both quickly stand up.

"Get over hea now and let's go before granny wakes". The boy said and she quickly walked over to him.

"Stay away from her you hea". He said sternly to me.

Grabbing her hand they start to walk away. As they were leaving she turned around and waved at me.

Giving her a small wave back I start walking back towards the house.

Sneaking back into the house I run to my room closing the door.

"Be more careful Karsyn I could've been ya father". My mother said from behind me scaring me causing me to hold my chest.

"Yes ma'am". I said taking off my shoes and sitting on the bed.

"What was you doing out anyway". She asked taking a seat beside me.

"I went to see that girl pa bought today I took her an apple and egg". I said looking up at her as she smiled down at me.

"How about tell me next time so I can make her some of my famous cake".She said causing me to smile.

Leaning down she kisses my head before standing up.

"Get some sleep now ya hear". She said walking out and closing the door.

Laying down I pull the covers up over myself and close my eyes.

That would have been bad if pa caught us...
