THE VAMPIRE PRINCE Chapter One — The Night He Came The night everything changed, the moon was red. Amara had always hated nights like this. The village of Blackthorn was surrounded by a thick forest where no one dared to walk after sunset. People said the forest belonged to creatures that had lived there for hundreds of years. Vampires. Amara never believed the stories. Until that night. She was walking home from the market, holding a small basket of food, when the wind suddenly stopped. No birds sang. No insects made a sound. Even the trees seemed frozen. Amara slowed down. “Hello?” There was no answer. Then she heard footsteps behind her. One. Two. Three. She turned around. Nothing. Her heart began beating faster. She hurried down the path. The footsteps followed. Suddenly, something moved between the trees. Amara screamed and dropped her basket. A tall figure stepped out of the darkness. He was dressed in black, with silver buttons running down his coat. His skin was impossibly pale, and his dark hair fell across his forehead. But it was his eyes that frightened her. They were glowing red. Amara stepped backward. “Stay away from me.” The stranger stared at her. “You shouldn't be here.” “Who are you?” He didn't answer. Instead, he looked toward the forest. “They're coming.” “Who?” A distant howl echoed through the trees. The stranger grabbed Amara's wrist. “Run.” She tried to pull away. “Let me go!” “You don't understand.” Before she could respond, several shadows appeared among the trees. The stranger's eyes flashed. “Too late.” Three creatures stepped into the moonlight. They looked human, but their eyes were completely black. Amara froze. The stranger moved in front of her. “Stay behind me.” One of the creatures smiled. “The prince has finally returned.” Amara stared at him. Prince? The stranger raised his hand. A powerful wind exploded through the forest. The creatures were thrown backward. Amara covered her face. When she looked again, the stranger was standing perfectly still. The creatures were gone. She stared at him in disbelief. “What... are you?” He looked at her. “My name is Adrian.” He paused. “And I am the prince of the vampires.” --- Chapter Two — The Castle Amara woke up in a strange room. For several seconds, she couldn't remember where she was. Then she remembered the forest. The creatures. The red eyes. The vampire prince. She immediately sat up. The room was enormous. Dark curtains covered the windows, and candles burned along the walls. A large mirror stood in the corner. Amara climbed out of bed and walked toward it. Her reflection stared back at her. Then she noticed something strange. A small red mark was visible on her neck. She touched it. The door opened. Adrian entered. Amara immediately stepped away from him. “Where am I?” “My castle.” “I want to go home.” “You can't.” “Why?” Adrian looked away. “Because they know about you now.” “Who?” “The vampires who attacked you.” Amara frowned. “Why would vampires care about me?” Adrian remained silent. “Tell me!” He finally looked at her. “Because you are not an ordinary human.” Amara laughed nervously. “Of course I'm human.” “No.” He walked closer. “You are the last descendant of the Moonblood family.” Amara's expression changed. “My family?” “Your ancestors once ruled the vampire kingdom alongside mine.” She shook her head. “My parents never told me anything about vampires.” “They were trying to protect you.” “From what?” Adrian's expression became serious. “From the vampire king.” Amara swallowed. “You're the prince. Isn't the king your father?” Adrian's jaw tightened. “Yes.” “Then why are you protecting me from him?” “Because my father wants you dead.” Silence filled the room. Amara stared at him. “Why?” “Because if he discovers what your blood can do, he will become almost impossible to defeat.” --- Chapter Three — The Secret Adrian led Amara through a long hallway. The castle was beautiful but frightening. Portraits of people from centuries ago covered the walls. Amara stopped in front of one. She recognized the woman immediately. It was her mother. But her mother had never told her about this place. “That's impossible.” Adrian stopped. “Your mother lived here once.” Amara turned toward him. “She was a vampire?” “No.” “She was human?” “Yes.” “Then why is she in this castle?” Adrian's voice softened. “Because she was my father's greatest enemy.” Amara stared at him. “My mother fought your father?” “She tried to stop him from destroying the human kingdom.” Amara's eyes filled with tears. “Why didn't she tell me?” “She wanted you to have a normal life.” A loud bell suddenly rang through the castle. Adrian's expression changed. “What is it?” “We've been discovered.” The castle doors exploded open. Vampires rushed inside. Adrian grabbed Amara's hand. “Stay with me.” They ran down the hallway. “Where are we going?” “The underground chambers.” “Why?” “Because it's the only place my father cannot enter.” They reached a stone staircase. Before they could descend, a deep voice echoed through the castle. “Adrian.” The prince stopped. Amara felt his hand tighten around hers. A tall man appeared at the end of the hallway. He looked almost exactly like Adrian. Except his eyes were glowing crimson. The Vampire King. “Bring me the girl,” he ordered. Adrian stepped in front of Amara. “No.” The king smiled. “You would betray your own father for a human?” Adrian's eyes turned red. “I would betray the entire kingdom to protect her.” Amara's heart skipped. The king laughed. “Then you have already chosen your fate.” --- Chapter Four — The Moonblood Adrian and Amara escaped through a hidden passage beneath the castle. They eventually reached an underground chamber filled with ancient books. Amara looked around. “What is this place?” “The Moonblood library.” She picked up an old book. The cover carried the same symbol as the mark on her neck. Adrian watched her carefully. “Open it.” Amara did. The pages began glowing. A strange wind filled the room. Words appeared across the page. The last Moonblood shall awaken when the red moon rises. Amara looked at Adrian. “The red moon.” He nodded. “Tonight.” Suddenly, pain shot through her body. She dropped the book. Her eyes began glowing silver. Adrian rushed toward her. “Amara!” She screamed. A powerful wave of energy burst from her body. The candles went out. Every book in the room flew into the air. Then everything stopped. Amara slowly opened her eyes. Adrian stared at her. “What happened?” He whispered: “You've awakened.” “Awakened what?” “Your power.” Amara looked down at her hands. Silver light danced across her fingers. “What am I?” Adrian stepped closer. “You are the only person capable of killing the Vampire King.” Amara stared at him. “And if I don't?” Adrian's expression darkened. “He will destroy both humans and vampires.” --- Chapter Five — A Dangerous Heart Days passed. Adrian trained Amara to control her powers. She learned quickly. But there was another problem. The closer they became, the harder it was for Adrian to hide his feelings. One evening, they stood on a balcony overlooking the forest. Amara looked at him. “Why do you keep protecting me?” Adrian didn't answer. “Adrian?” He sighed. “Because when I first saw you, I knew you were different.” “How?” “I could hear your heartbeat from across the forest.” Amara smiled. “And that was enough?” “No.” He stepped closer. “I also felt something I've never felt before.” “What?” “Fear.” Amara looked confused. “Fear?” “Because I knew that if anything happened to you, I would lose something I couldn't replace.” Her heart began beating faster. “Adrian…” He gently touched her cheek. “You should stay away from me.” “Why?” “Because I'm a vampire.” “And I'm a Moonblood.” “Yes.” “Maybe we're both dangerous.” Adrian smiled. “Maybe.” For a moment, neither of them moved. Then their lips met. The kiss lasted only a few seconds. But it changed everything. A thunderous roar suddenly shook the castle. Adrian pulled away. His eyes turned red. “He's here.” “Your father?” Adrian nodded. “The king has come.” --- Chapter Six — The Final Battle The castle walls began cracking. The Vampire King walked through the main entrance. Hundreds of vampires followed him. Adrian stood beside Amara. “You don't have to fight,” he said. She shook her head. “This started because of me.” “No. It started because of my father.” “Then let's end it together.” They stepped into the courtyard. The king smiled. “Finally.” He looked at Amara. “The Moonblood.” Amara raised her hand. Silver light surrounded her. The king's smile disappeared. “You have no idea what you're capable of.” “Neither do you.” She released the energy. The king was thrown backward. Adrian attacked immediately. The courtyard became a battlefield. Vampires fought against vampires. Silver energy filled the sky. The king was stronger than both of them. He grabbed Adrian by the throat and lifted him into the air. “Your weakness has alway
