Rescue!

"I am coming Mackie." Walking forward into the dim light, I could smell blood. I knew she was wounded, but it seems I had a sudden urgency to get to her and leave. "I am here." I could feel her and knew she was just infront of me. "My leg, and there is a deep wound on my chest." Her voice weaker now then when I hollered inside to see if she was there. A blue orb appeared above my head, I glanced back at Lada, if a wolf could shrug it sure looked like she had. The light let me see the horrible marks the red wolf had left. If I could have shot him again I would have. Several times... "Let me get your leg splited and then I can figure out a way to move you." I found some sticks along the edge of the plaza. I watched Lada take some hide from the dead Skinwalker. Using my knife I made strips of the hide. Laying the sticks along side and placing the strips underneath her leg. "I looked back at her to say "I need to align the bones. I am sorry this is gonna hurt." I didn't wait I just did it. That way it was over fast and done. Tieing the leather together I made sure to keep it tight. I heard the chirp of a hound coming from the front of the ruins. "Whoop!" Another hound chirp came as he got closer. "Whoop!" I hollered again. Chief came in ready to fight. Hair raised and teeth out, until he seen no threat. Skidding to a stop in front of me. " I smelled blood." He gave me a sheepish look. "I understand." Looking to Mackie "Can you go bring the rescue party to me?" "Of course," Chief turned right around and headed back out the entrance this time in full bay. If anyone was around, they would hear it. Lada got me a larger piece of the cloak from the fake Skinwalker. I eased Mackie on it as best as I could and drug her out into the plaza light. There I turned my attention to her horse. The mare was down, yet had not told me why. Getting closer to her I could see and smell her blood. "Where are you hurt?" I asked kneeling down next to her. "The muscle in my hind end is what brought me down. The red wolf, got me there." She was growing weak too. I made a low whistle, that went high then low once more. I heard the clippity clop, of Warriors hooves coming. He had my medical kit, and other bits I could use. I stood up and met him. "Thank you," I patted him. grabbing the kit and the blanket. I walked to Mackie. There I sat her up against the side of a plaza wall. wrapping her in the blanket I brought. I placed a large amount of padded gauze to her chest covered in antibiotic and goo to hold off any more bleeding. "I am going to tend to your mare. Chief is going to bring the rest of the rescue team shortly." I touched the side of her face. "You are very very brave." I seen that Warrior had walked near the mare. Talking to her reassuring her that all would be well. "Do you mind if I tend to the wound?" I looked at the mare. " Go ahead. I am sure her male will put me out of this once he gets here." The paint sighed, believing the end was near. Warrior chuckled, "My young lady, I don't think you know the woman tending you very well. They will not end your life with my mistress here." "I will not let them end you, if I have to drive the tractor and horse trailer out here to get you myself." I said it with enough conviction the mare noticed. I went to work on her next cleaning and stopping the main area that was bleeding. patching it, so that an actual vet could do the rest. Lada spoke then, "I must be off. Your hound is coming with the rest." I nodded, "Thank you" but she was gone already. I finished, my work on the mare. Looking back to Mackie I seen she had slumped in her position. Getting back to her, I checked her pulse, alive but must have passed out. "Mackie?" I asked. Her head wobbled a bit but she lifted her gaze to me. You could see her tired, and worried. "It will be ok, they should be here any minute." I touched her cheek again. I picked up the rifle I left standing along side the building. I walked a little closer to the entrance. I heard the shot, just as I felt the warm breath hit the back of my neck. Every hair on my body stood. I did a body check to make sure there was not a bullet hole and then slowly turned around. There laying just inches behind where I had been was the red wolf. I seen where I had shot him and the seen the much larger hole to his chest. His mind I heard him say as he was departing this world "your kind should have died long ago..." My kind I thought.. What the hell is my kind? And who shot him? I looked around. I did not see anyone or thing. I was however hearing a load of horses and ATV's headed this way. I waited at the entrance, I could see a butt load of people hauling ass on ATV's, dirt bikes, and horses. I seen Chief out front of them all still baying like crazy. I lifted my rifle, to wave it to them. I seen that some of them waved back taking different tracks to get up here. Riders stopped further down to leave their horses. The motor vehicles came to the top. Stan was the first to shut his engine off. "You found her?!" "Yes, she is in a bad way though." I wasn't going to color it. Stan said no more, just took off into the ruins, I heard a "holy s**t" come out of him just past the door. Yep he saw that massive dire wolf. I turned and followed him in. He was running full tilt toward her skidding to a stop on his knees he starting hugging her and kissing her. she was crying, "She is wounded Stan, be gentle." I chided. I knew he was happy to see her. Others were pouring in a ton of expletives came from their mouths as they seen the dire wolf. "What the hell happened!" Stan finally stood up looking around. Seeing the two dead human looking bodies and the massive wolf. "A Skinwalker, the one who has been on and off killing cattle and stuff. Plus its new friend the dire wolf." I pointed to the large dead wolf. "Normally I wouldn't believe this crap, ain't nothing the lord can't handle." Stan took a breath and looked around one more time. "But..." Another breath and he looked back at his wife, who was now being tended by two EMT's he knew. "I can't not believe it." "I have always said there is more between heaven and hell then meets the eye." I shrugged. I heard another engine in the distance getting closer. "Her mare was wounded by the wolf. she will need to be tended too as well." "Yes, yes of course." Stan murmured while looking back at his wife. They put her on a carry board and got her strapped in. Iv's and fluids already set. "Call my brother to bring the trailer out here. We gotta get the mare too."
