Michael's POV
Zooey and Erich exchanged a glance with me.
"Why did you go to the hospital today?" Zooey asked Vera, her voice steady.
"I went to the hospital to take Nicole," Vera answered.
Vera had taken Nicole, but now she claimed not to know where she was. It was likely Vera handed Nicole over to an accomplice. Zooey continued to coax more information out of Vera.
"Who did you give Nicole to? Where does this person live?"
"I gave Nicole to Liam. He promised to hide her well. I don’t know exactly where he lives, but Kane told me they headed south toward the forest near the border. They entered a cave there, but I don't know its precise location."
Damn it. How were we supposed to find Nicole in that vast forest? There were countless caves in that area. We’d need Ralph to bring Kane
