Lisa: "Master… please. Don’t make this my only chance. Give me another test. I’ll prove myself.”

Leonardo’s eyes remained cold and merciless.

Leonardo: “This is your only test. Do it and live… or refuse, and you will die by my hands.”

Lisa stood frozen, as though her entire world had just collapsed.

A brand new life
The stench of tobacco and gin slammed into my nostrils the moment I stepped inside the enormous mansion. It screams luxury from its marble floor to elegant furnishing. Sleek cars lined up the driveway while boys and girls in bikinis moved around with bottles in their hands, smoking and dancing. A deafening roar suddenly erupted from the left side of the mansion. I turned and froze at the sight before me. A large fighting ring in the middle of the mansion's compound, surrounded by thick ropes. A crowd had gathered around it, screaming and cheering as two fighters battled fiercely in the center. One of them was a girl. She moved swiftly and ducked a punch, and immediately turned around and slammed her opponent to the mat. The cheers increased. "Get done with him b***h," a voice said from the crowd. "May is definitely winning, he is no match for her," another voice echoed from the crowd. In a few seconds, people started cheering and clapping. There's already a winner. I couldn't get a full view of her face, but she had a striking familiar face. "Miss." Ryan's voice behind me made me flinch. I turned towards him. "I'm instructed to take you to the Humor Building." Ryan was the driver who had brought me here after my wedding. Without waiting for my response, he started walking toward a tiny building behind the mansion. I followed reluctantly, and then glanced back at the fighting ring. The crowd had finally parted. The victorious girl stepped down from the ring and is now facing my direction. "May" escaped my mouth. With lots of piercings and tattoos all over her body, even her hair is in afro punk now, I roamed Mr eyes all over her, she has really changed. "What are you doing here?" she asked in a low tone. May is a childhood friend, but she relocated with her family five years ago after they went bankrupt, and I haven't heard from her since then. I...I.. I stammered, couldn't voice a word. "I will take her to the Humor building," she said to Ryan. "Ohh really! Am I missing something?" He narrowed his eyes from May to I. I bent my face to stare at the floor. "Do you know her?" he asked. "Yes, she is like a sister," she said, looking round the people that gathered to hear her response. She took my right hand and started walking towards the building. _ "What are you doing here?" She paused. "Don't tell me you are the bride?" I stared down at the floor, "I have no choice, but to follow Lady Kate's order," I said amidst tears. “Hmm,” she murmured, tapping her fingers on the table. "At least Master will leave you here, maybe as a cleaner, so you just have to live low." I shook my head, "That is not what I want. I want to be a full member of “The Leo Clan.” "What... You know how dangerous it is here. We shed blood every day, kill the innocent and steal from people," she lamented. "You can't handle something like this. I think you should think it through now that Master is not in town," she added. "What." My heart skipped. She nodded toward the direction I came from. “So whoever you married…” She paused. “…wasn’t him.” “How is that even possible?” “I told you… this place is dangerous. You can’t trust anybody.” May shrugged and placed both hands on my shoulders, staring at me. Her voice was low and filled with worry. “I’ll manage,” I assured, though my voice didn’t sound as convincing as I hoped. May sighed, already turning away. “Let me get you something to change into… and food. You look like you haven’t eaten in days.” My stomach betrayed me with a loud growl. Minutes later, I grabbed the plate from her and took a spoonful immediately, barely tasting it. “Can you really handle The L- Four Family?” May asked again, watching me closely. I swallowed. “Yes. I can. I know enough about them.” I leaned back slightly, forcing confidence into my tone. “They’re four brothers. They built their empire together, very huge and untouchable. But when it grew too big and too populated, they had to split it into four clans. Each with their own territory and their own mark." May didn’t respond. I paused, noticing the hollow look in her eyes. “And the Leo clan…” I added quietly, “…they’re "L two." The strongest and biggest.” “That’s exactly the problem,” she cut in sharply. “The Leo clan is the worst of them. Illegal deals, bloodshed, power plays… they don’t stop.” A chill crept down my spine. “And I doubt the Master will accept you,” she continued. “He doesn’t need new members. You’re his wife on paper, but that means nothing here. Your family may ‘owe him that right…” she scoffed softly, “…but in reality?” She stepped closer, lowering her voice. “He’ll make your life a living hell until you beg for death.” I swallowed hard. “Is he… really that cruel?” May didn’t hesitate. “ He is worse. Especially if you’re useless to him.” Silence stretched between us. After a moment, she forced a different question. “How’s Dad?” That's what she refers to my dad as. “Still in a vegetative state. No change.” “So… Lady Kate made the decision herself,” she murmured. “What about Lucia?” “Better off than both of us,” I said bitterly. “She’s in the States. Studying for her diploma.” A sharp knock sounds at the door. “You’re wanted in the convocation room.” A boy stepped into view. His eyes flickered between us. “So the rumors are true… you two really know each other.” May stiffen. She knew what his presence meant. The Master was back.
