April couldn't hide how amused she was, while she stylishly looked around the principal's office.
The principal's office was the most beautiful office she had ever laid her eyes on. What was she suppose to expect? It wasn't like those in public schools and privates schools she had attended. The office is painted in rich brown. The desk is neatly arranged. There is also a shelf filled with books she hadn't seen before.
A fridge, which she was sure will be fully stocked. The kind of air she was receiving made her asks herself if she was still in Nigeria or she was in another planet altogether, since she stepped into the school, she felt she wasn't really in Nigeria. Everywhere was just calm and cool.
The elderly man across the table watches her closely before drawing her attention.
"Miss Kuti," The principal calls.
"Good day sir, " April responds trying not to panic. Mere looking at the principal, He looked like a professor who had dwelled in books.
"Hope you are comfortable?" He asks while trying to adjust his glasses properly.
"Yes sir," April responds trying to catch her breath. Meanwhile, the principal who seemed to notice how anxious she was, lets out a smile.
"Sit down!" He orders April, who panics a little before sitting.
"Thank you sir, " April responds.
"Hope the school is up to your expectations?" He asks staring at her like she was a hidden secret that he wanted to expose.
"Yes, sir, "April replies not feeling her voice.
" I know you are anxious, calm down. I don't bite, " He says with a smile.
"Yes, sir, " April responds trying to catch his breath.
'Do you know who I'm? " He asks with a small smile.
"Yes, sir. You are the principal of this great college, " April responds for the first time feeling relaxed.
"You are right, I'm professor Donald Nsirim." He let's out.
"I'm so pleased to meet you sir, " April says fiddling with her hands.
"The pleasure is mine, I'm mean you broke the record of this great college," Professor Donald says. Meanwhile, April let's out a small smile remembering everyone had been referring to her as the record breaker since she arrived. She knew she won the scholarship which had nothing to do with the school, but had no idea of this record they were talking about.
"Thank you, sir." She responds.
"You know, no one from our school has scored up to the point you did. you did so well in the scholarship exams and also broke the school record in the entrance exam you were giving, which is a tradition here." Professor Nsirim says helping April recollect, she wrote another exam after the scholarship. She was told even if she didn't do well, be would still be admitted cause she already won the scholarship. Which was a protocol in Hallel Colledge.
She could remember the four persons who had won the scholarship with her out of the huge number of persons who sat for the exams were asked to choose one of the best private schools in Rivers State. She gladly choose Hallel college, cause of the distance and thing she had heard about the school.
She could remember one of the candidates she had befriended there chose Princess International Colledge Omagwa. She recalled having a conversation with the girl when they met in the market one day. She was told the girl wasn't asked to write any other exams. She silently hoped and prayed the internal Examination wasn't going to rule her out. Even though she was sure of herself.
"You know, most students cheat there way during exams. Even if you didn't score high. You would have been accepted. Cause you were giving a scholarship by the organization. Not us," Professor Nsirim says.
"I didn't cheat my way in, sir." April couldn't help but say.
"And you proved it, you participated in the entrance exam held for every student, who wants to be admitted to the college and you broke the, by scoring 99.7. You have really proved your worth, " Professor Nsirim says with a geniue smile.
"Thank you, sir." April appreciates.
"You are welcome. I want you to continue to break records dear. You just got admitted and I hope you set and break records. I see you as someone who is destined to be great. That's if you don't lose focus." Prof Nsirim says.
"I will do my best sir. I won't disappoint you, " April assures.
"You know, this great college always gives away a scholarship to our best student after graduation. He or she can choose any university of their choice. If you want this opportunity, this is where you lay your foundation." Prof Nsirim says.
"I will do my best sir, " April responds.
"Take your studies seriously. If you have any issues, you can report to those above you and my office is always open."Prof Donald says with a serious look.
" I will sir, thank you very much. I won't disappoint you, I promise."April assures Prof Donald Nsirim who just nods his head.
"Your uniform will be given to you before the day runs out. You can take your leave, " Prof Nsirim says to April who happily gets up from the chair feeling fulfilled.

While they walk into the Cafeteria. April tenses up, she couldn't take the stares which was obviously on her. She tries to hide behind Science who is busy saying things she was obviously not listening to. She could notice some boys look there way. Still praying for the ground to open and swallow her. Science taps her completely getting her attention.
"Let's go get food, before going over to sit, " Science suggests meanwhile April nods her head like Agama lizard.
April let's out a weak smile while she lets the beauty of the cafeteria, fill her eyes. Every table had up to six chairs. The tables were also very spacious. Most persons were already busy, with there food.
"April, what will you eat?"Science asks cutting through Aprils thought.
" Uhm, what did you say?"April who didn't get what Science said asks.
"What were you thinking about? I asked what you were going to eat, " Science says with a questionable look.
"Oh," April responds with a small smile. The food displayed were so tempting, different dishes which looked rich, she couldn't remember the last time she ate chicken. The fact they were the ones serving themselves was thrilling. The dishes there couldn't be finished by the number of students she could see around.
"I will go with fried rice and chicken," Science says while she began dishing.
April watches her silently shocked by the quantity of food the girl took. It was so small with two big laps of chicken. April hesitates a while.
"Won't you take something?" Science who was surprised to see her staring asks.
"Uhmm, yes," April says while she dishes spaghetti into her plate. She makes to add rice but wonders what anyone especially Science would think, they might see her as a glutton. She hesitates a while before dishing out a lap of chicken
"Will that be enough?" Science asks surprised at such a small quantity of food she took.
"Yes, I don't each much, " April replies trying hard to fake a smile.
"Okay, let's go." Science urges.
"Yes, " April responds while they head to a table, trying to get used to the stares she was receiving, she walks with her head down. She didn't know when she bumped into someone or something. Still is the state of shock, she raises her face up only to see an angry face staring at her. She attempts to apologize but gets shut even before opening her mouth.
"Watch your way b***h. Do you sleep while walking?" The dark girl frowned.
"I'm so.....
" You are so lucky you didn't spill anything on me, I would have dealt with you, " The dark girl says without giving her the opportunity to say anything. She felt embarrassed because almost everyone in the cafeteria, were looking there way.
April turns to Science, who gives her an apologetic look. She quickly turns to the dark girl who was already walking away. With the stares she was getting, she felt like disappearing.
"Let's sit over there, " Science says pointing at a vacant table. April follows suite without uttering a word. On getting there they sit down.
"These students can look away your life, like you might end up disappearing. No offense, " April says.
"None taken, " Science scoffs while she stuffs a spoon full of rice into her mouth.
"Like I feel uncomfortable, " April complains with all honesty.
"They want to know who the beautiful girl is, " Science says meanwhile April gives her a funny look.
"Seriously?" April asks in a duh tone.
"You know your face is new her and you aren't putting on the Sunday wear, " Science says in a carefree manner.
"I thought as much, " April responds.
"You aren't eating?" Science who noticed April hadn't touched her food asks with a concerned look.
"I lost my appetite, " April responds.
" Hey! Is it because of that b***h Wendy? Don't let her get to you, she isn't worth it, " Science said referring to the girl April bumped into.
"Like she was rude to me, it was a mistake, and I felt bad, " April says.
"I know that's how she is, just avoid Wendy and her cliques. They are literally the worst people you should ever come across." Science says gaining Aprils attention.
"Oh, I thought...
" Science, you are having dinner without me, " A voice interiors April automatically gaining their attention.

My normal chapter word counts ranges from 1400- 1700 words. If worst comes to worst it's 1,200 to 1,400.
I only drop bonanza chapters like this when I'm happy
