“Let go of me,” she whispered, yanking her hands free from his grip. A low whimper escaped his throat.
“I’m done, Anthony.” Her voice came out harsh and final.
He stumbled back a step, heart slamming against his ribs. Anna couldn’t leave him. She just couldn’t.
“Goodbye,” she added, turning away quickly and biting her lip hard to hold back the tears.
