CHAPTER TWENTY SEVEN Riley found herself walking along the waterline of a beach. She was barefoot, and her pants legs were rolled up, and she might have enjoyed the walk if the sea air and the damp sand under her feet weren’t so cold. The sky was dusky, but she saw a glimmer of light out over the water. Sunset? she wondered. But no—the view from the nearest beach was to the east. Sunrise, then. It would be dawn before long.
