Chapter 10 Part 2: Warriors of the dark elf forest

Zeal and Chloe arrive at the forest where Chloe escaped when she was just a child. Looking at it, she was full of anger, fear, and uncertainty. She was having flash-backs for when she was captured by the dark elves.

They would whip her endlessly when she made mistakes or stopped working even for just one second, and throw her in a hole where they would let her starve for one week. She would cry everyday and endure the wounds that were inflicted on her by the sharp whips of the dark elves. She would sleep in that hole, freezing in the cold breeze of the night.

Zeal saw uncertainty in her eyes.

"You don't have to be scared witch."

"You were weak back then, you were just a helpless kid."

"But this time it's different. You're way stronger and braver."

Chloe then looked at Zeal. He looked back at her and smiled.

"Besides, this time you're not alone. I'm with you and I won't let them hurt anyone that's important to me." Zeal said.

Chloe was moved by what Zeal said. Her fear and uncertainty vanished.

"Heh, They wouldn't be able to hurt me even if they tried." Chloe said.

"Heh, that's how a grand witch should be." Zeal said.Let's do this old man!" Chloe said.

"Yeah!" Zeal answered.

They went inside the dark forest. It was foggy, dark, and quiet. The only sound they could hear was the branches of the trees moving from the blow of the wind and the screeches of the bats. There was no sign of the elves which Zeal found odd because the last time he was there, the elves were scattered everywhere and would jump at anyone who would dare inside their forest. They were savages and violent and brutal.

"Where are those savages?" Zeal asked.

"The last time I was here they were everywhere just jumping at anyone who would cross their territory." He continued.

"That was a long time ago prince. Back when the dark elves were uncivilised." Chloe said.

"What do you mean?" Zeal asked.

"They changed when Datu Manu made them his soldier. Dark elves know dark magic and are experts in weaponry and hand to hand combat. Datu Manu saw that as an advantage and organized them. From what I'm seeing here they remained that way." Chloe said.

While they were walking, Zeal felt something as if they were being watched from a distant

"Someone's watching us." Zeal said.

"Yeah, they've been watching for a while now." Chloe said.

An arrow was suddenly shot in Chloe's direction. She had fast sense and deflected the arrow with a barrier.

They then heard whispers coming from every direction.

"Thief."

"Thief."

"We will murder you thief."

"You'll never get out of here alive thief."

"What are these dark eleves mumbling about." Zeal said.

"Uhh.. hehehe.. I might have stolen their priced possession when I escaped here." Chloe laughed nervously as she scratched her head.

"So basically, you're a wanted person here. And of course they would know someone's here. Why did you even wear perfume?!" Zeal said.

"Hey back off ok?!, I wanted to smell good even when I'm fighting" Chloe said.

Zeal sighed. The elves then came out from the bushes; they were holding blades, bows and arrows. They were patrol Elves, the weakest of them all.

"Hehehe you're dead, Thief." One of the Elves said.

Zeal and Chloe stared at them for five seconds, then continued walking.

"Uh.. they completely ignored us boss." The underling patrol elf said.

"I KNOW WHAT THEY DID OK?! I'M HERE WHEN IT HAPPENED!" The boss patrol elf said.

"HEY YOU TWO! YOU GOT SOME NERVE IGNORING US! WE ARE THE ELITE PATROL ELVES OF THIS KINDOM AND WE WILL BE THE ONES WHO WILL TURN YOU IN!!" The Elves formed their battle formation which was composed of very embarrassing poses.

The boss patrol elf was proud of their embarrassing battle formation, but Zeal and Chloe had already left.

"Man.. we finally got to show our battle formation." The underling elf said.

"Don't be sad lads!, we'll have plenty of time to show it off after we catch those two and turn them in! Im sure the king is going to accept us as his soldiers if we catch that thief who stole the Dark Codex!" The boss patrol said.

"YEAH WE'RE GLAD WE FOLLOWED YOU!" The underlings cheered.

The small Elf patrol group then ambushed Zeal and Chloe.

"Hehehe you're surrounded now. Surrender and none of you will be hurt!" The boss patrol Elf said.

Zeal and Chloe had a plain expression while listening to the boss patrol elf talk. Chloe then noticed the boss patrol elf's nice golden watch, which he stole from an old woman passing by near the forest."Hey nice watch! Zeal look! He has a nice watch!" Chloe said while she poked Zeal.

Zeal looked closely at the watch.

"That is indeed a nice watch." Zeal said.

"Oh this? it's nothing." The boss patrol humbly said while he enjoys Zeal and Chloe's compliments about his watch.

Chloe and Zeal then continued walking.

"H-HEY WHO SAID YOU COULD LEAVE! YOU'RE OUR PRISONER NOW YOUR GOING TO COME WITH US!" The boss patrol elf said.

"And if we don't?" Zeal said seriously.

The boss patrol elf was intimidated at Zeal's aura.

"Th-then we're gonna have to hurt you!" The boss patrol elf said with a shaky voice.

"Y-yeah our boss is the strongest patrol elf! He will take you down!" The underlings shouted then hid behind the trees.

"H-hey you guys! Come out here! We'll show them the fruits of our training! The pain and hardship we've overcome! We've always been the outcast of our tribe and was always mocked and made fun of! but this! This is our chance to gain the respect that we deserve and to finally become one of the King's guards!" The boss patrol elf said.

The underlings gained courage and stood behind their boss.

"We'll stand behind you boss! You're our beloved leader and we trust you!" The underlings said.

While they were ranting, Zeal and Chloe stood there. They looked at each other, confused by what was going on.

"Who are these Elves? Are they being serious?" Zeal asked.

"I've heard of them once. They're the weakest among the soldiers that serves for the kingdom." Chloe said.

"They're not even real soldiers, they're just volunteers that guard this part of the forest to shoo away the humans that pass by." She continued.

"Let's go lads! It's now or never!" The boss patrol elf shouted.

"Yeah!!!" The underlings also shouted.

They jumped at Chloe and Zeal and with their blades pointed at both of them. One of them managed to cut Chloe's clothes. It was Chloe's favorite witch dress."M-my dress.." Chloe said

"Y-you little runts!!"

Suddenly the ground was shaking and chunks of rocks began floating. Chloe was mad.

"You sure made her mad." Zeal said.

The patrol Elves fell down on their bottom. They were scared at what was happening.

"W-were sorry thief.." The elves said shakingly

"Sorry wouldn't fix my dress up!" Chloe said.

The Elves thought it was the end for them. They hugged each other and were ready for what was about to happen.

Chloe then punched them each in the head. She punched them so hard they each had lumps in their heads.

"Stupid patrol Elves.." Chloe whispered.

"You know, you can take it to a sewer after we save Guillen. It'll be fixed in no time." Zeal said.

"Shut up!" Chloe shouted.

"Guillen?, I've heard that name before." The boss patrol Elf said.

"What? How do you know that name?" Zeal asked.

"When we where at the castle we heard the soldiers talking about a girl named Guillen which was brought to the king by this wolf guy." The boss patrol elf said.

"Achlys.." Zeal said.

"The address said that he held Guillen at a house at a place past this forest. Why would he take Guillen to the castle?" Chloe was thinking of a reason why.

"Probably to split you two up. You've been wanted here since you stole that book Thief. The whole dark kingdom knows that the girl is a royal blood. The news spread across the dark kingdom the moment she was born and the Elf king was afraid she might destroy the whole dark kingdom so he broke the agreement between him and the elder aswang Vaku and sent five grand witches to kill her but I heard they never came back." The boss patrol elf said."Is this Vaku an old man with one eye blinded?" Zeal asked.

"Yeah, that bossy old man looking down at us patrol elves! One day when we become the king's guard he'll see!" The elf said.

You're pretty talkative knowing that we are your enemy.

"Uh.. SHUT UP! YOU'RE OUR PRISONER!" He shouted.

"Still not done with that? Want me to add more lumps to your bald head huh?!" Chloe said while cracking her fingers.

"This is no time for game Witch. Tell us what you know Elf or I will slay you where you stand." Zeal said fiercely.

The patrol elves were terrified.

"Now, tell me where this place is." Zeal said

The patrol boss looked at the address that Zeal showed him.

"Oh, that used to be the place where the wolf tribe resides." The boss patrol elf said.

"Wolf tribe? Why would he try to lure me there?" Zeal said to himself.

"It's also the place where their tribe was massacred by the elder aswangs." The elf added.

Zeal then remembered what Achlys said back in the alleyway "you don't know what you're father did, don't you?"

"Who massacred their tribe?" Zeal asked.

"From what I heard It was the Elder's plan. The Wolf tribe was taking the other two kingdom's side for the upcoming war so the elders sent shapshifters to m******e them and made it look like the other two kingdom's soldiers who massacred them. They planned and sent the news to the tribes in the north and south side of the dark kingdom." The elf said.

"But why?" Zeal asked.

"It's because the wolf tribe is the second most powerful dark creature in the dark kingdom, they're second to the elders and if they take the other two kingdom's side the dark kingdom would not be able to stop them." The elf said."How do you know all these information?" Chloe asked.

"My brother haa a job which documents the plans of the elders at the castle and write them down for future use." The elf said.

"Achlys is out to get his revenge for his tribe by killing me." Zeal said.

"Achlys? You mean Achlys the dark wolf?" The elder asked.

"Dark wolf?" Zeal asked.

"Dark wolves are destined to be the alpha's of a tribe. They're on par with the elders in terms of brute strength but that the only thing they have because they can't use dark magic." The elf said.

"What did you mean when you said Achlys the dark wolf? How do you know him?" Zeal asked.

"From my brother as well, he documented a meeting of the elders once and he said they talked about the pordigy of the wolf tribe. A baby born with a huge amount of power. They were threatened because at the time, the tribe was planning to switch sides and if that kid grows up and trained well he would have the power on par with the kings. So they massacred the tribe and sold the kid to the Elf king as slave that way he will never reach his full potential." The elf said.

"So he's as powerful as you and cane from the same torture as me." Chloe said.

"As powerfull as hi- wait.. could it be?! Are you.. the last royal blood of the old era that everyone is talking about?!" The elf was shocked.

"THIS WILL DEFINITELY GIVE US THE PROMOTION WE NEED LADS!" The boss elf shouted.

"Huh!?" Chloe stared at him fiercely as she cracked her fingers.

"J-just kiddin Ma'am." The elf said politely.

Zeal stood there in silence. Achlys was a victim of war in the same way as him. Chloe also realized how much suffering Achlys must have been going through. His tribe murdered and came from the same torture she went through and now lost his way and is fighting for the very person who plotted his tribes murder."The records.." Zeal said.

"Huh?" Chloe responded.

"We need to get the records from the kingdom. Maybe we can convince Achlys that he's fighting on the wrong side." Zeal said.

"That's a very dangerous plan. Trying to convince him once you meet him means you need to hold back when fighting him." Chloe said.

"We're both victims of war.. I still want to cut off his head for the things he did.. but that wasn't him, it was Vaku, who brainwashed him and made him do what he did. Maybe if he knew what really happened he would stop all of this." Zeal said.

"We'll it's worth a shot. He's not so different from us so maybe we can still save him." Chloe said.

"We'll head to the kingdom first. We'll save Guillen and get the records. You there elf, you will come with us. Show us where the records are." Zeal said.

"Who are you to tell me wha-" The elf then saw Chloe staring at him fiercely.

"Y-yes sir."

"Let's move" Zeal said.

They were about to leave when five Elves arrived. They were wearing dark armour. Two were carrying swords; the other two were carrying bows and arrows, and the female was carrying a giant fork shaped weapon.

"This is as far as you'll go." The female elf said.

"Move.." Zeal said.

"Make us." The elf the the sword said.

"Looks like someone wants trouble." Chloe said as her hands began glowing.

"Th-thos guys.." The boss patrol elf said.

"Dark armour..shiny swords.. well made bows and arrows.. and the girl holding the giant fork weapon... These guys are the King's Guards." The underling elf said.

"The elite unit of the Elf king.. No way these two will win.. those guys are the most powerful soldiers that the king handpicked himself to carry out special missions."

"I heard they once murdered an elder by the order of the king.. and an elder is powerful beyond imagination! These two will definitely die.."

"Mister! Stop! You won't win! Those guys are definitely not as weak as us! They're the best the elf kingdom has to offer!" The boss patrol elf said.

Zeal released his sword. Chloe's surrounding was vibrating from her lighting magic. They were both smiling.

"They're smiling...these two has a death wish.." The boss patrol elf said.

"This is the second time we're gonna fight together witch." Zeal said.

"Heh, try not to take them all this time." Chloe said.

"The elf said these five are the best this kingdom has to offer. Looks like we're in for a treat." Zeal said.

"I hope this will be as fun as the battle of the blood moon." Chloe said.

"Blood moon..The battle where the witches are at their most powerful.. they said that twenty thousand witches were there, ten thousand were slain and the other half escaped in fear. You two.. you were the two person from the reports who fought there.. A grand witch and a guy with a giant sword.." The boss patrol elf said.

"Make sure you don't get in my way witch." Zeal said smiling.

"I won't if you won't get in mine." Chloe said smiling as well.

A battle between the Dark Elf king's guard versus the Royal blood and the Grand Witch is about to happen.
