A New beginning

AVA I groaned heavily as I stood up from the bed, trying to adjust my blurry eyes. “Ava?” A voice said faintly. I slightly tilted my head to the direction and I saw mom. She smiled at me as she walked towards me with a cup of milk. “Mom.” I called, she dropped the milk on the table and sat next to me. “Where are we?” I asked staring round the room. Mom gently took my both hands into hers and stared at me. “Mom?” I drawled. She always does that whenever she has done something bad. “What did you do?” I stared directly into her face. “It was the only option?” she cried, her voice almost like a whisper. “He would have done something bad to you and I couldn't just sit and watch my daughter be dragged away from me. So after you fainted, I explained to them about the mark and Logan suggested that it was best to bring back to your homeland, your father's place.” She ... I rubbed my hands against my face and stood up, I walked towards the window and with a trembling hand, I shifted the curtain. I stood almost about to loose my balance, my mouth hung widely open as I saw the view before me. Busy bustling street, people going about their business, men who looked like military personnels were patroling the area. It looked like the medieval period, like the 60's. “Mom?” I called still staring outside. “This is the Dark moon park.” She said standing next to me. “The very kingdom were your father came from, the land were you were birthed.” She sighed, walking back to the bed. “I had to let Logan bring us here because staying at California wasn't safe. News about you being mated to the head Alpha of the pack had gone round and there were rouges who were in town, searching for you.” “Rouges?” I questioned, raising my brows. “Yes.” she nodded. “A group of wolves who left their original pack to form another.” “But why would they want me, I'm already fed up with being marked by two wolves and now this?” I angrily stumped my feet on the floor and slumped on the couch. “I’m sorry you had to deal with all this.” mom said engulfing me in a hug, “I wish there was another way.” LOGAN “You brought her to the pack?” James, my Beta asked as he paced round the room. “You heard me!” I snapped at him, “Tha was the only option available, I couldn't let Xavier have her.” “How sure are you that she is actually marked to Xavier?” “I do not give a dime if she's telling the truth or not. The main deal here is that she is with me and she is in my kingdom.” I smirked, sipping my wine. Xavier had always won against me in everything, either in pack battles or anything, he always won. Years ago, before I turned five, when we were still a community under the Blackwood pack, everything were going well not until it got to our turn to rule, they refused us. They threatened us and claimed that the Blackwood pack was to be led by every Alpha male born by the Head Alpha. My father who was the beta and together with some other wolves, fought against them, it wasn't an easy fight. Life's were lost, families were scattered. But at the end, we lost the fight but father did not back down. He carried along with him, other wolves who were willing to leave the blackwood pack and formed a new pack, The Dark moon pack. We were called wolves, casted out by the moon goddess herself but we didn't care. We worked hard until we made a name for ourselves. But things didn't end after we left the Blackwood pack. News began to spread that they were going to all villages, and claiming possession over them. And when they got to ours, father fought bravery to protect his pack but he couldn't make it back alive. I watched the Head Alpha of the Blackwood pack, Xavier Blackwood's father, behead my father and I swore at that very moment that all he would pay for all he had made me go through. If he was actually mated to Ava, I promise, he would never have her. She was mine to claim and mine alone. Xavier Blackwood, prepare for battle. AVA “So what do we do, we've been locked in here for hours?” I asked mom, pacing around the room. We've been in here all day and no one has dared to enter except for two ladies who had brought us food and some clothes to change into but I had refused to eat. He must have poisoned it, I didn't trust these people. “Calm down Ava.” Mom cooed, sitting up from the bed. “You’ve been pacing around the room nonstop, try and eat something alright?, you could collapse.” I stared at the brown soup sitting at the table, I couldn't bring my self to taste it. “I can't take it and besides it's already cold.” “Mom.” I snapped at her and she looked up. “Caleb.” I said and she stared at me like I've gone crazy. “Where’s my phone?” I searched my pocket for it but I couldn't feel it. “I need to call him, he must be worried.” Mom stood up and walked towards me, she placed her hand on my shoulder as she stared into my eyes. “You need to forget about Caleb, about California and everything, you've began a new life.” “A new life?” I asked shifting away from her. “You call this damn place a new life. I can't sacrifice my friendship of 13 years just because of some stupid life that I got to find out on the night of my birthday. You can stay here mom but I am not. I am going back home, our real home, and I will find my best friend.” I said, glaring so hard at her. “Ava, you need to brace yourself, you weren't born to just be a normal human, you were born as a werewolf. And you have to accept it. You have the blood of a wolf running through you, this is who you are.” She said trying to hold my hand but I slapped it away. I stood, tears falling from my eyes. I couldn't accept what she had just said, this wasn't my life. This wasn't what I had imagined, I fell to the floor as I let the tears flow, unsure of what tomorrow holds.
