Chapter 15

The outside air made me more alert than ever before. The sky was dark and partly cloudy, the bright moon shining through the cracks. Wait a second... Was it a full moon tonight? It sure looked like it was. The perfect night for an attack because of how strong some Werewolves became.  Without another thought, I ran towards the pack house to begin rounding up the non-warriors and pups. I gathered a few Wolves along the way to help me safely get everyone to the cellar in the Alpha's residence. Quickly everyone had gathered, and I raised my voice. "Everyone!" I shouted. "Could I get your attention please?" The crowd hushed and a Wolf nearby offered its help by hoisting me up so I could better see and announce my next instructions.  "I need everyone to move together in an orderly fashion. Please keep close to one another. Let's link arms so that nobody gets left behind. Adults, please do your best to keep the pups calm!" I took one final deep breath and nodded. "Okay! Let's go!" We moved very swiftly for a pack of people who had never really had to do anything like this before. We soon reached the Alpha's residence and I quickly broke apart from the group to open the cellar doors and helped everyone inside.  I closed the doors behind me as I was the last to enter and headed down the stairs. Everyone hushed as I approached. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. "I need somebody or multiple people to tell me exactly what's going on. I need to know they're okay. Our warriors..." I paused for a second as I thought about my mate. "My husband." I added quietly. My brain froze. Did I really just call Narien my husband. Never mind that, I also... I...  I was pulled back to reality as I was sat down at a table with a few of the non-warriors. They gave me a run down of everything that they could understand through our pack's mind link. Narien and Marsen both took a commanding lead in directing the pack as to where to go and protect our pack and our land.  It was figured that this attack was being carried out by the rogues that Ithalia hung out with before she joined our pack. It seemed that they were trying to break her out of prison, but she was heavily guarded.  There was a pause as the battle raged on. Little could be heard through our mindlink at the moment. Suddenly we found out that Ithalia had escaped imprisonment. Narien was quick to chase her down. Of course he would go after Ithalia. After all, he had bragged to me once before about how being Alpha made him the strongest and fastest Werewolf in our pack.  Narien quickly caught up to Ithalia and I felt my hands fly to my face as I held my breath. "Please, catch her..." I prayed softly to the Moon Goddess.  NARIEN I approached Ithalia in my human form as to try and not show too much hostility at the moment.  "There's nowhere for you to go Ithalia!" I barked out as I had backed her against a cliff wall.  She huffed and puffed, looking to me with wild eyes. "You won't kill me," she retorted. "I'm pregnant with your child and if you kill me and thus this baby, you commit treason upon yourself." "Don't test me." I said angrily. "I don't care about any of that. I will kill you if you try anything funny."  She laughed manically. "Stop acting like you're some ruthless killer, Narien. You're not and we both know it. Besides, would dear Amethia be able to love a killer?"  I growled angrily. "I told you to keep her name out of your damned mouth, Ithalia. Don't move one more step or you're dead!" I shouted.  Ithalia cracked a small smile. "Come at me then." She said fiercely, opening her arms up wide for an attack.  I stood back in preparation to shift back into my Wolf. I had to keep bluffing for as long as I could. I had to scare her into submission because she was right. I would never kill her. I could never kill a woman who was pregnant, regardless of whether the child was mine or not. I took a deep breath, ready to take off when suddenly I was attacked by an enemy Wold and tossed to the side.  When I was able to see clearly, a new man stood above me. I didn't recognize him but he definitely was a rogue. I could tell by the way he was dressed. He was the type of wolf that spent more time Wolf than human. His eyes were full of tears as he stood defensively of Ithalia.  "No!" The mystery man shouted. "I won't let you hurt my child!"  Marsen appeared from the bush in his Wolf form just after that and I scrambled to stand up. "So it isn't my child then?" I asked curiously.  "No. It's mine. This was Ithalia's plan all along she-" Before the poor boy could get another word out of his mouth, Ithalia had hit him in the head. I turned to her and her devilish smile was gone. She looked defeated.  The rogues are retreating, Alpha. Marsen said to me through the mindlink.  Good. I replied. Go find Amethia in the cellar and tell her that it's safe to come out. It must be you to do this.  Yes Alpha.  Marsen took off as my eyes focused in on Ithalia. "I recommend you leave and never come back here." I said firmly.  "Or else what?" She rolled her eyes.  "No or else." I stated, "Do not return. Ever." I said slowly before turning away to return to my Wolf form and to return to Amethia.  AMETHIA The Rogue Wolves were retreating! I was overjoyed. Everyone in the cellar became happy. I went to the stairs to wait for either Narien or Marsen with a small smile on my face.  I sat at the top of the staircase for a few minutes while waiting. Slowly a wolf appeared in the distance, running towards us. As it got closer, I realized that it was Marsen's wolf. I opened the cellar doors excitedly, anticipating his arrival.  When I turned back around I saw a Wolf burst out of the tree line headed straight to attack Marsen. I screamed, jutting my arms out in front of me. "Marsen watch out!" I screamed.  Before I knew it, a white burst of energy burst in front of my eyes and I was sent flying. I fell perfectly through the now open cellar doorway and towards the hard cement of the ground. Right before my head hits the ground everything goes black.  I try to look around but there is nothing. I can't even see myself.  A feminine voice runs through the back of my mind. "It's nice to meet you Amethia." "Who's there?" I question loudly.  "I am your protector." The voice replied calmly.  "What the heck just happened to me?" I asked more frantically.  The voice chuckled. "I bestowed upon you my gift." "A gift?" I asked carefully. "Am I a Werewolf now?" I asked excitedly.  She laughed again. "No. But Wolf blood runs through your veins. You are more connected to the world of Werewolves than you realize."  "I am so confused." I said quickly.  "In due time, my child. In due time." The voice spoke one final time before I felt the back of my head smash into the cold hard concrete of the cellar. It all went black after that.  I woke up back in my own room. Narien held on tight to my hand from a chair next to the bed and I felt my heart swell up. Looking around the room I noticed that it was late once again, so I assumed that it was the following evening. I shifted and accidentally woke Narien up from his keeled over position on the bed.  "Oops, sorry." I said gently.  When Narien realized I was awake he had me smothered in a hug. "Amethia!" He shouted my name.  "Hi," I mumbled in response. "What happened after I fell?" He pulled back caressing my face gently with his hand. "You saved Marsen from that Wolf. I don't know how you did it Amethia, but you saved his life from that Rogue. You did amazing on your first horrifying, stressful night as Luna." I smiled. "So can I retire now?" Narien laughed at my joke. "Not until you fulfill all of your duties as my Luna." "Last night I called you my husband." I blurted out.  Narien's eyes widened. He pulled me back into a hug with his chin resting on my left shoulder. I hugged him back and buried my nose into his shoulder.  "It is taking all of my strength to not make you mine right now," he exhaled softly.  I pulled his face up to meet mine. "What do you mean by that?" I asked gently.  "Ah well, it's this thing that you can only do once you find your mate." He said slowly, his hands moving to hold my sides.  I blinked. "So this is something you never did with Ithalia?" I proceeded to ask.  "Never. I couldn't even if I tried, and believe me, she had me try many times." He explained, his face still smooshed in my hands.  "So then... what is it?" I asked carefully.  His right hand traced up my side, sending a shiver down my spine, before he reached my shoulder. He then traced his fingers over the spot where my neck and shoulder meet, and it tingled more than his regular touch. "Do you feel that?" I nodded, enjoying the feeling. "This is where I'm supposed to mark you when I mate you."  "This is sounding awfully intimate... Why didn't you do it before... Last time, I mean." I asked softly.  "I need to wait until you say yes. To everything. I can't claim you as mine if you do not want to be mine." Narien explained slowly. He planted a kiss to the mating spot and I instinctively grabbed onto his back and held him close. I ran my hands through my hair. "What's there left for me to say yes to? Pretty sure I've told you I'll be with you forever already and have agreed to marrying you."  "Maybe we can talk about it another time." He avoided the topic.  "No..." I mumbled pulling his attention back to me by pulling him closer. "I want you to mate me so tell me what it is I have to say yes to." Narien pushed his lips firmly to mine. "It's this big long thing I've gotta do. It's a lot of questions, are you sure?" "Will mating bring us closer together?" I asked quietly.  He pressed his forehead to mine. "Of course. It will make us whole, we become a unit together. The mating ritual binds us together for the rest of our lives."  "Okay then. I want to do it since you want to do it, so go ahead. Ask me your questions." I said firmly with a nod.
