Chapter 16 - POV Charlie - Through the Woods

1142 Words
The rest of the week had almost flown by. I trained hard every morning and our Werewolf history class was great. Not quite as enticing as the first day, but Ms. Storm mentioned we only get to hear more of the story every Monday. I'm not thrilled with this, but not much I can do about it. She said it's to keep us interested, but I mean the course is compulsory anyway, not like we could skip it. We did manage to learn that since the war there are a few Vampires that have integrated into our society. Not all vampires are soulless bloodsuckers. In fact, our Headmaster is a hybrid. Shocking I know. He's a Warlock and a Vampire hybrid, with no red eyes like most vamps, but maybe that is because he's a hybrid. It definitely helped him fit in more, and pass for just a warlock. I wanted to know just how many of each species' abilities he received, but Ms.Storm shut that down real quick. Saying it's not her place to discuss others' abilities. Ms. Storm is a bit of a treasure trove of information. I like to find her when I have a free moment and talk. The class we had today was about the Blue moon twins, one male and one female, half wolf, half other. It's a legend about two twins born on the blue moon. The twins were said to have great strength and power. She told us the male twin is meant to lead a warrior pack, unlike anyone had ever seen. They needed to be strong because they were to be the leader of the army for the other twin. Because that twin would be the leader of all the one to unite all the species. Legend stated that whomever was mated with her would rule as one over all the species. There is no indication if their partner is their fated mate or even that same species, just that together they would unite everyone. Talk about amazing. It could almost be Damon and I accept. I'm pretty sure dad would have told us if we were like half fairy and born on the Blue moon and had the potential to unite kingdoms. I can feel I'm getting a bit restless. I love all this information and kicking butt in combat class, but I really need a good run. I haven't let Iris out in a while either and I've heard the forests around here are magical. I ran to the forest edge, looked around and saw I was alone. I stripped down to nothing and shifted to Iris. She let out a mighty howl and took off into the forest. As we raced forward, we could see a downed tree on our path. We leaped into the air and scored over it. I can feel the wind pushing through our fur, the gravel dirt beneath our paws as our nails grip into the dirt, sending us flying forward. Faster and faster. This is the feeling of freedom, far from history, pack business, and lustful thoughts. It's just Iris and I now as one. We begin to slow as we see a small pond coming up. We sauntered over to the pond and admired ourselves in the reflection, before taking a much needed drink. This would be my happy place. The blue flowers surrounding the water's edge, the soft lush grass beneath us. We curled up next to the long grass and the water and went to drift off to sleep when we heard a snap. Immediately, my ears perked up and I began looking around. This is a school campus, these woods are protected. This could be just another student taking on an afternoon run. I looked at the tree line where the noise came from and that was when I saw him. Mr. Creepy. Standing there. He came out from the shadows smiling, aside from the off-putting red glimmer in his eyes, he's actually quite handsome, dare I say. Oddly dressed for the woods in a three-piece suit, but handsome none the less. He looks about my age, though I know that can't be true, can it? His brown hair is nicely styled, long on top and short on the bottom, his smile is almost warm and inviting. I've never been this close to a full-blooded vampire before. Are they all good looking? 'Snap out of it Charlie, be alert, this man sent rogues after us and he shouldn't be on school grounds, something isn't right.' She's right, I know she's right, but why am I not scared of him? I give him a warning growl, and he smiles bigger. He gets closer, too close for my comfort and bends to meet me eye to eye. "Ah my little wolf, its been too long, much, much too long. I've missed you, my how you've grown." Grown, seriously its been like a week since I'd seen him. What the hell is he even talking about? I growled again, as there really isn't much else I could do in wolf form without just flat out attacking him and really he hadn't done anything yet worth attacking this time. Instead of the reaction I was hoping for, he laughed again. "Oh my little wolf, you don't scare me. I've been waiting 17 years for this, to meet you once again." This should be creeping me out but I'm too distracted by his words to make myself feel fear. This guy is cryptic. I'm pretty sure I've never in my entire life met this guy and here he is acting like he watched me grow up, insert Heebe Jeebes here. I finally felt like something was off. We backed up from the creepy yet intriguing vampire and I thought I saw the slights falter in his smile when we backed up. "Don't worry my little wolf, all will be explained soon." He reached out to stroke Iris on the head but we managed to maneuver away. "Fine, as you wish, my star, until next time." He winked at me, and before I had time to process anything, he vanished. I knew vampires were fast, but I figured with my enhanced eyesight I would see him run. Instead, I'm left here dumbfounded by the encounter and a bit freaked out. Then I looked at my watch and realized I didn't have time to worry about that. Mr. Creepy was gone and I only had a couple of hours to get ready before the club tonight. I'll worry about Mr. Creepy and his apparent knowing me problem later. Tonight it was going to be getting laid and having a good time. Or at least I hope so. We ran back to the dorms, trying to get Mr. Creepy out of our minds, to enjoy the night.
