Chapter 15 POV Charlie - Patty.

I went to my room, jumped on my bed and immediately dialed Patty’s number. “Well hello there short stack!” I rolled my eyes, seriously, I’m not that short. “Hello Patty Cakes.” I knew this nickname bothered him too, so why not have a bit of fun at his expense? “Okay, okay, truce. I missed you. I can’t believe you’ve only been gone a little while. So tell me did you find the unlucky guy who will be saddled with you for life.” haha, now there's my boy. “Har har har, no I haven’t had the pleasure of gracing him with my presence. But.. hmmm.. Oh, nevermind you wouldn't want to know.” I teased. “Okay Charlie, you better tell me and tell me now.” I could hear the eagerness in his voice for some juicy gossip. “Well, I met a boy, or well, I should say man. His name is Martin and, oh my goddess, you could lose yourself in his abs alone.” At that I hear Patty pretending to throw up. “Less details about some dude's body please.” “Oh fine, but he is goodlooking and Iris likes him too. He’s not our mate. Girls gotta have fun sometime, right? Oh and guess what? Marissa is my roommate. Apparently, dad set it all up. It's actually been really nice having her back in my life. She's helping me with this whole learning how to be approachable and social stuff. We’re even going out to a club on Friday night called Wolf City on campus.” Well that was a lot in one breath, I sucked in a huge amount of air and then released it, just waiting for Patty’s response. “Okay, so let me get this straight. You’ve been away from me for less then a week and you’re back with Marissa, and she's already got you going clubbing and crushing on boys? If I knew all it would take to get you out of your shell was befriend Marissa again, I would have hooked you guys back up years ago. I’m happy for you kiddo.” I knew he would be, but it was nice to hear. I wanted to tell him about Mr. Creepy and how I’m almost positive he’s stalking me, not to mention the fact I was attacked on my way here. I know it would just mean he and my brother would be here in a matter of hours and dragging me home. They’ve always been so protective. I’m here to learn how to be a Beta, and a Beta should not have their best friend and brother come to protect them. So letting Patty know about Mr. Creepy was just going to have to wait. ‘I think that's a good idea, Charlie. We don’t need to worry anyone. At least not yet.’ “So Patty, how are things back home?” “Amazing, Sarah says hi by the way.” “Oh tell her I say hi.” I may not know her very well, but from our brief encounter I know I'll enjoy her company when I visit home. “Damon has already started upping his alpha training. Your dad already had a visiting alpha come for a meeting about us sending some of our warriors to their pack for help with a rogue problem.” That piqued my interest. “Oh really, which alpha, and why are rogues attacking them?” More rogue attacks make me get this icky feeling that something is brewing. “The alpha from Shadow Moon, it’s actually a good meeting for everyone. Both current Alphas were at the meeting but they both kind of sat back and let their sons take the reins and come to an agreement. It was a good chance for both Damon and Alpha Max to see how things would work once they are Alphas.” There's that name again, Alpha Max of Shadow Moon. Intriguing that they would come to our pack for help. There are a few packs between ours they could have reached out to. “Why are they asking us for help? There are other packs between ours and theirs that could have reached out to us. What were the alphas like. Did they seem interested in anything else, what else did they discuss?” I had question vomit again. “Wow, question vomit much. Don’t worry, it's not like they were planning a hostile takeover or anything haha. Your mom actually reached out to a couple of old friends at the pack apparently before you even left for the academy. They told her about the random rogue attacks they’ve been having and she suggested that maybe they have a meeting about it. Shadow Moon agreed and set it up as a good opportunity for both future alphas to learn to work together. I honestly didn’t get to see Alpha Max. You know that whole I have no interest in being the beta thing.I wasn’t invited to the meeting. I know Damon likes him though. He said it was nice working with an up and coming alpha just like him and that Max really seemed interested in building a strong allyship and protecting his people.” For some unknown reason, hearing about how much Alpha Max cared about his people brought me pride. “That's great. I’m happy Damon got that opportunity, but I do wish, as a future beta, that I got to be there for it.” I was sad I didn't get to be there, but not just because, as Damon's beta, I should have, but also because I didn’t get to meet Alpha Max. Not sure why I get that feeling though. I quickly composed myself and asked Patty how things were for him. He told me how happy he and Sarah are and how they spent the whole day in our cabin the other day. I tried to ignore the obvious that they clearly cemented their love all over our cabin. Making a mental note to bring cleaning supplies the next time I’m home. I wouldn’t be surprised if Sarah is already carrying their pup. Werewolves who have s*x with their mates tend to get pregnant pretty easily and I’d say they haven't really come up for air since the meeting except for maybe this phone call. Sarah apparently is a wonderful cook and when I come home for thanksgiving she will be making the thanksgiving dinner for the whole pack house. Of course, with the help from the other kitchen staff, but following her homemade recipes. I missed my time with Patty, but I knew I had to end this call to go get ready with Marissa. As much as I liked Patty, I knew I was in for a good night of binging on One Tree Hill, maybe even Martin would stop by. ‘Oh you can say that again, sister!’ ‘ I swear Iris, you had better behave tonight if he does. We cannot jump him.’ ‘Oh you’re no fun. I'll behave.” She huffed and retreated into my mind. Sensing my train of thought was elsewhere now, Patty took the hint and we ended the call. I grabbed my favorite pjs. They were cute black shorts, and a tank top with a full moon on the front. I ran out into the common area and jumped over the back of the couch and landed right beside Marissa. She faked being shocked and threw some popcorn at my face. We ended up watching 6 episodes, and then heading to bed.
