We pulled up to a beautiful 3 story building with other buildings surrounding it, there were many people and wolves outside awaiting our arrival. I wasn’t used to being around so many people. The diner was hard enough to be in and it was almost dead, there were over 30 pack members waiting. I always stayed hidden and one of my parents would go out and get anything we needed, and if I did see anyone it was the kids when we stayed with a pack, I might act older because what I have been through, but a pack doesn’t see it as that they just see me as a pup. So, seeing this many people made me very uncomfortable, and I started to look for somewhere to run and hide. Sadly, I saw there was nowhere for me to go. We were in the center surrounded by trees but there was someone everywhere if I tried to run they would stop me. I think Steven could sense I was uneasy with all these people, I saw his eyes go hazy and people started to walk away and go about their business.
“Do you want me to carry you into the pack house to meet Alpha Michael, or are you ok to walk?” Steven asked looking back at me.
I was lost for words and very tired, so I just put my hands up for him to carry me. He smiled a heartwarming smile, got out of the car, and opened the back door scooping me up. I buried my face into his shoulder to hide myself the best I could.
I heard him chuckle and say, “It’s ok princess I got you.”
When we got inside he never put me down instead he started to climb the stairs until we were at the very top. We came to a room with double doors, he knocked waiting for an answer before we went in. There was a muscular man sitting behind the desk looking down when we entered. He looked up and flashed a smile at me. I buried my face more in Stevens' shoulder. Even though I didn’t know him he gave me that safe feeling I felt with my parents and with how this night was going I needed to feel safe.
The man they called Alpha Michael tried talking to me, but I couldn’t hear him over the pounding sound of my heartbeat. Steven started to pull me back, so I could look at him, I tried to fight and hide my face, but it was useless. I looked up at him and he smiled, he walked over to the couch and sat me beside him, so I could look at his Alpha. My hands were in my lap and my long dirty blonde hair cascaded around my face, while I stared at my hands. I let out a breath I didn’t know I was holding and looked up to see Alpha Michael staring at me as if he was waiting for an answer.
“I’m sorry sir I’m not used to new people or new surroundings. My name is Nevaeh. I don’t really know my last name. We changed it every time we moved.” I said, still looking down to my hands.
“It’s nice to meet you Nevaeh as Steven has told you my name is Alpha Michael and it’s my job to take care of everyone here.” He replied.
Steven explained what happened tonight and what little I knew, and then they started to talk about where I would stay. He told them to take me to the orphanage and that they would take care of me, seeing as I had lost my parents. I could feel my eyes starting to well up with tears, I didn’t want to be alone. But Steven requested if he could keep me and take care of me as his own, as we have bonded in this short time and he felt I might adjust better if I stayed with him.
Alpha Michael was hesitant but agreed stating they would talk in the morning. Steven scooped me back up, taking me down to the second floor and into a bedroom. I saw my suitcase and my stuffed wolf sitting on the bed. He set me down and pulled out some pajamas and pointed at the door for me to go change, I did and went back into the room. He pulled the covers back and I climbed into bed then he tucked me in.
“Get some rest princess, tomorrow will be a busy day.” He smiled.
“Will you stay with me until I fall asleep?” I whispered.
“Sure, princess why don’t I tell you a story to help you fall asleep” Steven said as he sat down on the bed.
I nodded my head and snuggled with my wolf. He looked deep in thought at what story to tell me. Then it was like a light bulb went off and started to tell the story of the golden wolf.
The golden wolf is a special wolf, she will be born from two alpha mates. She will be stronger and faster than all of her brother and sister. She will heal at an alarmingly fast rate for she is the protector of her kind. When she is old enough to find her mate, he will be an alpha as well since she will need a strong mate for what’s to come. Once the two are mated and the Luna ceremony completed her special gifts will be shared amongst her pack. Their wolves will become bigger and stronger than normal wolves, they will also heal faster like her for they will need the advantage in the war to come. But she must be careful and listen closely to her wolf, others will try to trick her to gain her gifts for themselves. During the war the golden wolf will show her hidden secret and save us all.
Steven looked up to see Nevaeh fast asleep. He kissed her head and headed out the door to talk to his alpha. He deserved to know the truth on why he wanted to keep Nevaeh.
Alpha Michael was still in his office going over last-minute paperwork, when there was a sharp knock on the door. He got up this time to open the door figuring with the time it was this had to be important. When he saw it was Steven he knew he was about to have a bombshell dropped on him. He waved Steven into the sitting area of his office, then shut and locked the door and followed him.
“Alpha I hope what I say here can stay between us, I have to tell you, so you can help keep her safe. And you will realize why I wanted to keep Nevaeh with me” Steven said.
Alpha Michael nodded his head and Steven told him everything. Nevaeh’s parents were my sister Luna Aurora and Alpha Aaron. Once my sister became pregnant she knew something was different about her pregnancy and went to see an Oracle, she didn’t want Alpha Aaron to know so I went with her. The Oracle told her she was pregnant with the golden wolf, the one from our legends that would save us all. Hearing this she knew she was in danger as well as her unborn child. They set up security around the pack house and she never left it her entire pregnancy and the day Nevaeh was born they were attacked. There were hunters as well as wolves after her, hunters never come after our pups when they are born. But wolves after power do and that day they joined forces to take my niece and failed. I got them out as fast as I could and split their pack up telling them their alpha had fallen into a coma and was hidden until he recovered, and their Luna and her child didn't make it, she rejected the pack, so they felt the bond break and hearing the news they were too upset to tell they she became a rogue and didn’t die. It was what they wanted to save her, and they have been on the run since. I’m guessing someone figured it was them seeing as they were killed tonight but she survived. So, I can’t let my niece be raised in the orphanage when she does have a family member living.
She has my sister's wild spirit and her father’s determination, so I’m not surprised she was able to shake us tonight. Not to mention she has done it for years, so it's second nature to her. The odd thing is I can already sense her wolf more than I should, she hasn’t fully surfaced but she’s there. And with how my niece was earlier I can tell she has heightened senses. When we were whispering thinking she wouldn't hear she did. I saw her almost cry at the mention of the orphanage, she also seemed to use my scent to calm down, and lastly when we found her she took off into the woods and made it all the way to Cassie’s in record time. So, she can see well in the dark and she is fast, with your permission I would like to keep training her to still have some normalcy in her life, not to mention see what all she can do.
Alpha Michael was shocked hearing this but knew what he was saying was true. He felt it the moment he laid eyes on Nevaeh that she was special. Michael nodded and let Steven know his secret was safe with him but there were going to be ground rules for Nevaeh.
Nevaeh is to go to school just like any other child. She is to participate in pack activities after we accept her into the pack. You can continue her training in a few weeks she needs to get use to going to school. And you are to tell her the truth, so she knows why she needs to be careful. She needs to know so when she shifts for the first time she knows why she needs to stay hidden and no one can know, because if they do everyone will come for her. We have plenty of time to set up something for her to be able to shift and run where no one else will be allowed to enter. After their talk Steven and Michael left for their rooms to retire for the night as tomorrow was going to be a long day.
