The Fiery House
I heard something walking towards me. It was dark so I couldn’t see who it was from, but after a few minutes, the progression of the movement increased, coming towards me. Before I could realize it, I saw a hand reaching toward me, so I screamed and took off.
I ran as fast I could but it kept coming at me until I fell crawling on the floor and as it drew closer I noticed it was a tall hairy muscular man. He wanted to r**e me, so immediately I screamed out and then I woke up.
I said to myself, that it was just a dream, but my heartbeat told otherwise and my whole body was filled with sweat, and my stomach was heavy. I couldn’t even lift my body, nor could I get up from bed. I looked at the clock in the drawer close to my bed. It was three o'clock at midnight. I was frightened but slept off without notice.
“Emilia! Emilia!!”
I heard my name called out right in my sleep, but as I woke up, the voice called out again, but this time it was louder than the others.
“Yes!” I answered.
“Come down and get ready for school. It's past seven,” the voice said and never returned.
I was tired after the nightmare last night, so I sluggishly came out of bed, went to my bathroom, had my teeth brushed, and took my bath. I went to my wardrobe, wore my school uniform and had some make-up. After that, I got my school bag ready for school.
I went down and greeted my mom and my little brother Kinsley. My dad left for work early that morning due to an urgent meeting that was carried out in his department in his office. My mum prepared a pancake with savage beef and I had some of it, kissed my mom before leaving the house for school.

*At School*
Emilia schools at King Power Academy in Texas.
The bell just rang for demise and I took my bag with a book I wanted to put in my locker. Going out of the class and heading to the class exit door immediately, I doomed into this new guy who had been transferred to our school from Grantham high school in Florida.
“ I am so sorry,” he said.
As we both bent down to pick up my book that had fallen out of my hand. He got to the book before I could, then we stood up. He handed it over to me. I was lost in my thoughts looking into his greenish-yellow eyes. My heart skipped a beat and I came out of my trance.
“Are you okay? Did I hurt you?” He asked with a caring voice and I said
“Yeah… yeah, I am all right.”
Adjusting my hair on my face before I straightened out my hand and he placed the book on it.
I thanked him, then I walked out, went straight to my locker, and inserted the book I was holding in my hand into a small bag there. That was my school diary. I never went home with it.

*At Home*
I went to the fridge, opened it, and took out a can half filled with liquid milk with cornflakes maize. Poured it onto a plate in front of me and added the liquid milk, then mixed it. Immediately, as I was about to take the first spoon of it, the doorbell rang. At that moment, I felt like killing whosoever was at the door.
So as I went to the door and opened it, it was an average handsome black American man, I guess, in his late twenties, dressed in formal attire. He said
“Hello”
And I responded
”Hi”
I asked him
“How may I help you?”
He answered,
“Your mum… is she at home?”
I told him she wasn’t at home but he could leave his message with me or he should try and call her. But he said
“Her line moved to voicemail and I was in the neighborhood so I decided to check if she was at home”.
“Sorry about that.”
But when she arrives, I will tell her you came around
“Anthony Ben!”
“What?”
“My name is Anthony Ben. She knows why I came looking,” he said.
“Ok”
Turning back towards the door, he asked
“What is your name?”
At that moment, I remember my soaked cornflakes mixed with maize and how hungry I was, but I didn’t want to show him my bad side and he was cute, so I turned with a blushing smile and remembered
“Emilia”.
As he smiled, I could see his white teeth and reddish gum in his mouth. He brought out his right hand for a handshake and I reciprocate by doing likewise, we shook hands in pleasantly and I went inside and close the door. I went to the window to take a glance at him once but he was almost out of sight. I only saw his back. Then I remembered I had a socked meal waiting for me to consume it. Then I went straight to the dinner table and saw my cornflakes and maize clustered together, socked, and had risen to the top of the deep curved ceramic plate. I disposed of it in the sink and made a new one and had it to my satisfaction. After that, I went up to my room to observe my siesta.

“Where am I?” Emilia asked herself.
“Hello! Hello!! Anyone here?” hoping to get an answer
“Mum! Dad! Kingsley!” she called out, but there was no response.
“This is not happening, it’s just a dream,” she said to herself.
“This place is dark. I can’t even see” she lamented in a scary tone.
She was standing in a dark room for a while before she tried to find her way out of the building. When she got outside it was like a cemetery. She couldn’t see anyone but she could see her way due to the full moon.
Walking down the road, she got to a point where her body started burning up. She could feel the heat from a distance, so she moved forward to get a view of what was producing the heat, then she saw a house on fire. It was burning so high that she couldn’t withstand the heat so she tried running off, then she had a voice screaming. She paused and turned to see who it was. Lo and behold, there was a little boy struggling for his life.
When he saw her, he straightened out his right hand requesting her help as he screamed. She felt pained as she couldn’t help him, but something was strange in that scene. The boy wasn’t burning, and neither were his clothes.
She lamented
“Is this hell?”
She was so scared that she told him.
”Am sorry I can’t help you”
The boy screamed, which made her fall with her back to the ground. At the motion, she used her left hand to hold herself not to reach the ground and she heard a dislocation crack sound on her wrist and at that moment she woke up. My body was filled with sweat so I got my duvet soaked as if I was showered with water. I stood up and looked at the electric clock at the edge of my bed; it was 4:45 pm.
I went to the bathroom, staring at the mirror opposite me with a frightened face, imagining the terrible dream I had. I took my bath and put on clothes I got from the wardrobe. I heard a horn
“Dad is back,” I said silently.
I hurried my way down the stairs, at that moment I missed a step and was about to fall.. Immediately, I used my left hand to help myself not to stumble to the ground and I heard a crack sound on my wrist. I remember my dream when I fell and dislocated my wrist. I cried because it hurts. Still, on the floor, my mum walked in with my junior brother Kinsley. She heard my cry and walked up to me, asking
“What’s wrong with you dear?”
I couldn’t say a word, still crying while my face was facing the floor. She grabbed me at my dislocated hand and I cried out loud while I used my right hand to demonstrate to her that she was hurting me with my dislocated hand.
“What’s wrong with her?” my dad asked.
At that point, I had to stand up and wipe my tears.
“I fell from the staircase and dislocated my wrist”
“I guess you were running to have stumbled to the ground,” he said.
“Honey, is that the apology you have to say to her?” mum said while turning her face to my dad.
“I heard the horn so I hurried down to get the door and to welcome you guys”, I echoed aloud so my dad could hear me as he walked up to his room along the staircase.
My brother consoled me with his little sweet voice
“Am sorry for what happened to you big sis”
“Thank you, Kinsley,” I said, holding him with my right hand on his shoulder with a smile on my face.
