Chapter one
Call him the gifted hand. Mr creative. Pen icon. Deep thinker. The young professor. The literary child. Prolific writer. It is his brand. His sacred calling. A natural ability. A flair for the pen. An undying love for creativity. What else could have made him more fulfilled than being himself? Can talent give him a future? Is there any drop of greatness in a career he has vowed to live the rest of his life for? Writing for fun. Writing for passion. Writing for money. Indeed, it is a hardluck story. A classic story of rags to riches. An inspiring story of unforgettable victory. Perhaps, the triumph of destiny in its peak. His name is Praise, born on the fifth day of May 1984 to a Christian home in the Eastern part of the country. This particular date has a great significance on his life because it was on a Sunday morning. It often reminds him that he is an ordained son sent forth for a special mission. His arrival meant light, favour, wealth and honour to the family he owes his existence. Right from his childhood, Praise has some promising qualities one of which is his writing endowment. He is a natural writer. His writings affect his mood. Whenever he is sad, he would pick up his pen and his face would brighten up at once. Sometimes in school, when after reading his excellently written article in the school magazine, his English teacher remarked: "Any day, anytime, you are always an epitome of academic excellence and a potential writer for this generation". What an incredible beginning! always an epitome of academic excellence and a potential writer for this generation". What an incredible beginning! In practical terms, he is visionary, terrifically gifted, goal- driven and has an eye for details in every facet of life. No wonder Gabriel Marcel says "A man who believes in nothing and a man who depends on nothing is a man without connection". He believed in the power of his pen to make a difference in his world and be a shinning star to other youths. Was his craving for excellence achieved? Praise was the sixth child in a family of seven made up of four boys and three girls. He was the last of the boys and had the privilege of attending the university after his secondary education. His father is a reverend pastor in a local church, who loves praying for his children and his mother joined our predecessors on their way to a missionary calling at Aba in Abia State. His sound moral upbringing helped him to have a divine direction in life at the age of twenty-three years in his uncle's house. Maybe, God had better plans for his future or simply showed him his untapped potentials, embedded with a seed of greatness. His growing up was full of hustles of life, bitter experiences and a mesh of coincidences. He was call ed a dullard by his classmates, mocked at by his friends as a result of his quiet nature and highly discriminated against by his cousins who saw him as a less-privileged fellow considering his low background. But he had the guts to stay focused, fought the battles and registered his name as a playmaker in the scene of life. For him, the difference is clear as far as human accomplishments are concerned. His life depicts the scriptural saying that God uses the foolish things of the world to confound the wise. One may seem useless in the sight of men but becomes a sharp threshing instrument in the hand of his maker someday. It is certain that the celebration of one's story is the celebration of one's glory, But the glory will not be seasoned and total without one's saddest story. Praise's story just started..
