Prologue

I could see my mother's eyes watery as she placed her hand on my cheek. My father stood beside me with a few guards a couple yards away. "Rosalyn are you scared?" She asked with her gentle voice, looking me straight in the eye. "A little," I told her truthfully, glancing around the large field we were in. Nothing had been making sense and I didn't know why my mother held back her tears and why my father just let her hold them back with a pained look on his own face. She sighed and looked up at my father who had now couldn't look at either of us. "This is hard," he mumbled under his breath. "Don't be scared, you are just going to be seeing more of daddy than me." "But why?" I asked clueless of what the world would think of me, yet at that time I could care less. "When you are older, it will all make sense. Okay?" She asked and I nodded my head not having any words to say. She stood from her crouched position in front of me and went to stand in front of my father, placing a hand on his cheek. "I love you." she whispered and he replied, "I love you too Lucinda." "Till I see you again?" A small smile painted her lips as she spoke. "Till I see you again." He repeated and my mother kissed him.
