I

"How does it feel?" I smirked as I watched Alex finally catch up to me. He shook his head at me and let out a huff of air, bending over to catch his breath. We had stopped at a small clearing in the forest that had a circular shape to it with a few logs here and there with one or two stumps. "I'll admit, you are faster than I thought you'd be." He said, "How often do you run?" I shrugged my shoulders not honestly sure of the answer, "A lot." "Well maybe we can try this again while you are on that oh so secret trip of yours." He joked and I let out a small chuckle as we headed back to the pack house, just talking for a while and taking our sweet time. We never really rushed back to the pack house, it seemed like a waste to run all the way out here and not enjoy it. "How long are you going to be gone anyway?" He looked over at me with a questioning look on his face. "Probably just a few days. I'll be back before you know it." I told him as we walked through the forest together. He nodded his head and we went into a comfortable silence between us only with the peaceful background noise of the forest. Beginning to think about the trip, I purse my lips together. I am going to be going to the Main House of the Angels to visit my mother. I have not seen her in about a year or so and we have been rarely in contact. Yet, I can't blame her. She was extremely busy and had lots to do and it was most likely that this trip would have something to do with work. We reached the pack house and there are a few pups playing together in the large front yard. I smiled as they greeted Alex and I.  "I love those pups." Alex commented as we walked into the house and I nodded my head, "Yeah, they are always so enthusiastic and sweet." My father was already not too far from the door with his beta, Max beside him.  "Alpha." Alex and I bow our heads respectfully. Although in ranking, he should be lowering his head to me, his pride as an Alpha would never allow him to do so.  He smiles and chuckles, "You ready Rose?" "As ready as I'll ever be." I tell him and he nods his head, "Good luck and be back soon." "Will do Alpha." I almost cringed at the use of the title and my father had glanced at me with disapproval. He sighed but didn't vocally acknowledge it. Alex hugged and I pulled away after a few moments, "Don't forget to tell Alexis I said good bye." "I won't." He chuckled and I bowed my head to my father again and waked out of the pack house alone, and went straight past the kids. *** I walked through the long pathway that led to the main house. Golden statues of angels sat on silver pedestals. Each statue was 2 yards apart every one in three led to another pathway through the garden. The pathway it self was made of polished stone. The main house had a much more elegant and posh aura to it than the werewolf house did. Admiring the beauty of the long pathway, it took me a while to reach the main house. I bit down on my lip before I knocked against the huge seven-foot oak wood door. My mother's assistant open the door and a huge smile spread across her face. "Rosalyn, it is so good to see you. Your mother is waiting in her office, just finishing up some paperwork. You can just go right in." "Thank you, Isadora." I smiled at her and she just nodded her head, letting me into the palace like home. Once I walk in, I receive the same amazement I always do. The paintings on the walls are framed in gold and the floors are made of white marble tiles. There are a few more pedestals with pieces of either glass sculptures or hand crafted vases. Making my way through the first floor, I finally reached my mother's office. I stared at the gold colored door behind knocking on it. "Come in." My mother's gentle voice called and I pushed open the door to see her working behind her desk. She has not changed much since I had last seen her. Her hair was still a gold color, and her hazel eyes still held the love and compassion in them as they did before. She still looked like she was twenty with her softer features that made her, her. I walked in, shutting the door behind me as I walked into her office. One of the walls were made of a one-way mirror that let her see the back garden of flowers. "Rosalyn." She smiled and stood from her chair and came towards me to give me a hug, "I haven't seen you in forever." I gladly accepted her embrace and after a few moments, we pulled apart. I sat down in front of her desk on one of the older styled chairs that are much more comfortable than they appear. My mother once again sat behind her desk which was covered in papers, pens, pencils, clips, and anything else that would be found in a desk was on hers. "I wish she could've met up on much better terms Rosalyn." She sighed and I nodded my head. I had figured that she would only want me to visit her if it had something to do with her work. Although, it is still nice to see her even though the occasion might not be ideal. "We've been having issues with rogues." She starts, looking down at the paperwork on her desk, "They are becoming a real problem in the northern territories. Some of the Alphas are having issues handling them efficiently." "What type of rogue?" I ask her, sitting up straighter to give her my full attention on the topic.  "Mostly Werewolf and Vampire rogues. There have been a few minor attacks but nothing that needs my full attention currently as there is much more for me to do. I would like you to inform your father of these issues and have him contact me if he is aware of any rogue attacks, either Vampire or Werewolf."  "Of course." I nod my head and then she puts on a faint smile, "So how are you, Rosalyn?" "I'm... good. It's been weird back home because I have been spending more time with the teenagers of the pack and referring to father as 'Alpha' and its just a little awkward for me to use that term in reference to father." I tell her, letting out a small sigh as I do so. "How is your father?" "He's been good as well. He's been doing a few meetings here and there and really working hard on keeping the pack together." I tell her. "Anyone suspicious about there not being a Luna?" She asks. I shake my head, "No, no one really talks about there not being a Luna to the pack. Probably because father is a Royal Werewolf and that won't exactly end well." I chuckle at the end and I see in mother's eyes she wish that her and father could not be so distanced but the worlds they live in are to different.  Before we can discuss anymore, there is a faint knocking at the door. Mother smiles apologetically and says, "Come in." Isadora comes in with a huge binder in her hands. "Sorry to interrupt Lucinda, but there was another minor rogue attack in a smaller North American Pack a bit up north of us." My mother let out a sigh but held up a forced smile, "Thank you, Isadora. Is everything being handled alright?" "The pack was reported to be fine, though I did send Katherine and Gavin up there to make sure." "Okay, report back to me if anything else happens." My mother instructs and Isadora nods and closes the door, leaving us alone once more. "Where were we?" She smiles at me. I smiled back as we entered a simple conversation that we ever so rarely get to enjoy.
