Alex and Lucas got into the car and drove out of Chabelo's mansion as he watched the garden burn through his car's mirror. Finally, he avenged his parent's death.
Chabelo abducted his parents, forced them to transfer the vineyard to him then burnt them alive. All Alex craved since that day was revenge and today he got it.
"This calls for celebration," Lucas said.
"You should celebrate without me, I have a few things to do" Alex replied.
"Lucas, drive to the cemetery" Alex ordered.
Lucas watched Alex walk over to his parent's grave. This was the first time he visited them without flowers, all he had was his briefcase. He was stunned when he saw Alex drop the transfer document on the grave.
"Huh?? He went through all that trouble just to let it go like that?" Lucas looked at Alex with sadness, all Alex wanted was happiness which seemed far-fetched.
"Let's go, Luc," Alex said as he passed Lucas' side. Lucas ran to quickly get the document before it got lost before running to catch up with Alex.
"Wait for me!!" He shouted to Alex.
The duo got into the car and Lucas ignited the engine.
"To the mansion or ...???" Lucas asked Alex
"The airport, I have a flight to New York City today" Alex responded.
"New York City??" Lucas was stunned as he turned to face Alex who had a blank and distant look.
Alex hated New York City a lot, that was where he was born and abandoned by the mother he loved so dearly. He couldn't find the girl who saved him from the fire outbreak despite his efforts so he avoided visiting the city despite having the headquarters of all his business in New York.
"Did you find her?" Lucas asked knowing that the only reason Alex could go back to NYC was if he found his mystery savior.
Alex hesitated before answering, he equally wished he had found her and he was going to see her. Though he vaguely remembers her face, he saw genuine care and worry when she saved him. He craved to see that care in the eyes of another for him.
"No, I haven't found her," Alex replied dryly. "I have a personal business to handle"
"You should take this along," Lucas said, handing a gun to him.
"I'd be dealing with harmless people over there, I won't be needing this" Alex replied pushing the gun back to Lucas. "I should be back after a week," he added.
"Okay, boss!" Lucas answered as he pulled the car over. Everyone at the airport became curious as they sighted a Lamborghini Gallardo.
"It must be a celebrity" some girls giggled as they saw Lucas come down from the car.
"Oh my gosh! It's Lucas, from Tuandor's empire" the girls shouted as people gathered to see him.
Alex couldn't help but smirk as he watched the girls gawk at Lucas. He opened the door before Lucas could get it and came down.
"Oh no!! Is that Alex Tuandor?" The girls gawked at him. "How can someone be this handsome?" The girls drooled at them.
"I'd get going now, Luc. Take care of yourself" Alex said.
"You too, Alex". "Call me if there's a problem, " Lucas said. Alex lightly smiled and nodded before heading to the boarding gate.
Alex majestically walked to the first-class cabin and found his seat. He decided to rest as he would be facing his worst fears soon. He swore never to return to New York but now he had to claim his inheritance there.
He closed his eyes and saw his eight-year-old self and mother happily living together, working as a servant in the Smarts' mansion, then the scene changed to the fire incident, then to when the little girl came and dragged him out.
He felt light taps on his shoulder and as he opened his eyes he saw the air hostess.
"We are about to land, sir, please fasten your seatbelt," she said, smiling at him.
Alex fastened the belt and checked his watch, he couldn't believe he slept throughout the flight. He alighted from the plane, got his luggage, and left the airport. He made no preparations as the trip was a little urgent so he rode on a taxi.
"Where to sir?" The cab driver asked.
"Any fancy hotel" Alex replied as he got into the cab, slacking his necktie and breathing heavily.
"Do you care for water?" The cab driver offered and Alex accepted without any suspicion. After drinking the water he got dizzy and passed out.
**Few hours later
Alex felt his head banging, everything was pitch black. He stretched his right leg out as he waited for his memory to come back. He jumped off from where he slept as he remembered feeling dizzy after drinking the water from the cab driver.
"Qué demonios! What the hell happened!!" Alex shouted as he stood up from the ground. He looked at himself and realized that the cab driver robbed him. He was barefoot, his golden wristwatch, phone, tie, and briefcase were gone.
"Arrgh!!! Te maldigo!, Curse you" Alex swore in Spanish. Then he noticed people had gathered and were staring at him.
"I think he's crazy"
"Maybe he escaped from a mental home" "A crazy, handsome man! Too bad"
Alex heard people mutter words against him and he couldn't help but feel angry. "Curse you New York City"
"Ey, you need help right?" A young, petite girl who approached Alex asked him in Spanish.
"You speak Spanish?" Alex asked in shock. "You speak English?" She asked him back.
"Yes, I do and I need your phone," Alex said. She kept staring into Alex's eyes without answering him.
"Damn it!" Alex said.
"He's just like her," the girl muttered before handing her phone to him. Alex called Lucas repeatedly but he wasn't answering.
"Pick up the phone, Luc" Alex kept shouting.
"You should come with me if your friend isn't answering," she suggested.
"Why should I trust you?" Alex said meanly.
She was taken aback by his harsh tone. "I'm the one trying to help you here, I approached you when others didn't and even gave you a phone to call with, that's more than enough reason to trust me," she said.
Alex looked at her this time around, she was pretty though she had a small figure and sun-tanned skin. She had chestnut brown eyes and black hair that were packed in a messy bun. She wore a black turtleneck top and a pair of jean trousers with white sneakers.
"She is a little girl, she can't hurt you, " Alex thought to himself.
"Alright, fine" I'd come with you. He added.
The young girl took Alex to a boutique and got him a shoe before they headed home.
