I kept quiet, I had nothing to say because he kept running in my mind. We finally reached home
? Do you want his number?
She answered yes, without any hesitation. I reached for my phone and gave it to her.
Are you going to call him?
No! She said.
“why? I asked”
“Well, he thinks that he gave you his number.”
I can call him for you, I offered but she turned me down, I was curious, I wanted to hear his voice
again but he is not mine to think of. I couldn't sleep, I kept turning and eventually, I fell asleep.
Next day
I woke up and made the bed as usual. I started feeling as if someone was watching me. Maybe it is
all in my head. Thanga knocked at my door, Hurry! She said or else were going to be late. I grabbed
my school bag and came out running ? wait! Wait for me, I said. It was a beautiful morning and
the weather was warm, the morning sun ☀️ shining through, and flowers looking as mesmerizing as
ever. Laughter from a distance, a group of students gossiping, others eating food, and even a couple
jogging. It was nice to see a spectacular view.
As I enter the college gate. I hear people's voices shouting my name. I swiveled and looked around,
with a wondering face. They waved at me.
This tall beautiful lady. She said we met last week on the registration day. We greeted one another
and told each other where we were from. I remembered. Oh, yes I do remember. You are Brilliant,
and this is rhandzu. I guess we're in the same class.
Days passed by very quickly and I was starting to like the people and the place.
I started noticing strange things that had been happening where I was residing, the owner of the house started looking at me in a weird way, I felt uncomfortable.
The next day I decided to tell my housemate about my feelings, not feeling safe and feeling like
there’s someone watching me. On that day j decided to take a nap in the afternoon but I could not
sleep. I suddenly heard footsteps, something told me to peek outside. Only to find him starting at
window as if he wanted to see something.
It felt horrible, in that moment all I could think of was to call my mom and tell her about the
situation, I picked up the phone and called l, she didn’t pick up. All I could think of was to go and
sleep somewhere, where I can feel safe, so I called brilliant and told her about the situation, she was
kind enough to offer me a place to sleep.
My mom got back to me. I told her my situation and she decided that I look for a room and move out
as soon as possible, thanga called me. I answered she said there is a room somewhere it is for
sharing, I was hoping if we could share. It is only two houses from the house we leave in now, and
we can help each other carry our stuff. Without hesitation I said yes, I hang up the phone and told
Bree that I had found a place and I needed to go get my stuff, she said ok and walked me.
We parted our ways, I was rushing now because it was going to be late soon. My mom called my
father so he came and talked to my new land lord. She was a lady and she did not live there, but her
kids did. She reassured me and my father safety, we headed back to pack up my things and said my
goodbyes ? to my old land lord.
We opened the door to our new room which it was outside. It was big and it had a wardrobe, a
kitchen and bathroom. The place was big. My bed and thanga's bed fitted.
A lady come by to greet thanga, she was tall with light skin. We got along so fast. She lived in the
place where we hand just moved in. That’s how I met Sarah.
The following day we headed to college. We were not really learning, people were still struggling
with Nsfas registrations, so every day we went to the college to check weather our Nsfas application
are done, fall in line for student card which It would take up to a week to get it.
Collection of books, it was a mayhem and when you’re right there like one foot in the door, people
would say the system is off come back tomorrow.
I started hanging out with Sarah, and other students just to mingle but I was getting close to Sarah
more. She was older than me, she knew better. She told me that thanga was actually older than her, could not believe that she was 28 and yet looked so young.
