Blurb

a dark and twisted tale about a girl named Samantha who experiences a profound transformation after killing an attacker in self-defense and discovering a disturbing enjoyment in killing. As her thirst for violence grows, she spirals into madness, leading her to kill her own mother and bury her in the garden.

Months later, a new girl named Arial arrives at Samantha’s school, rumored to have killed her own parents. Samantha, recognizing a kindred spirit, befriends Arial, and the two begin planning a series of murders together. Arial introduces Samantha to an old, blood-covered mask that once belonged to a notorious killer named Charlotte, who was believed to be dead.

As they wear the masks and commit murders, the authorities mistake their actions for a resurgence of Charlotte's crimes. This provides Samantha and Arial with the cover they need to continue their spree. However, tensions rise, and Samantha's instability grows. She becomes obsessed with creating her own terrifying persona, carving a permanent smile into her face and eventually setting herself on fire.

Samantha survives the self-immolation, her appearance drastically altered, and spends months recovering in a coma. Upon waking, she recuts her facial scars and reemerges, determined to reclaim her place as a feared killer. She tracks down Arial, who had escaped from jail and was living a secretive life, and convinces her to join forces again.

Together, they confront Charlotte, leading to a brutal showdown where Samantha ultimately kills Charlotte. However, the victory is hollow, and Samantha's inner turmoil leads her to hang herself. Arial attempts to lead a normal life but is eventually caught by the police and imprisoned.

Detective Evelyn Ross, who had been pursuing Samantha and Charlotte, visits Arial in prison, informing her of Samantha's fate and giving her a letter from Samantha expressing her apologies. The story ends with Evelyn reflecting on the tragic lives of Samantha, Arial, and Charlotte, and resolving to continue her fight against the darkness that consumes such souls.

[1] STARTER
Samantha lived in a quiet town on the outskirts of the city, where everyone knew each other. She was a shy, reserved girl who preferred spending time alone with her books rather than socializing. Her days were filled with the routine of school, chores, and the solace she found in her garden, where she lovingly tended to flowers and small animals that often visited. One evening, as Samantha walked home from the library, she took a shortcut through a dark alley. She had always felt safe in her town, but that night, a man appeared out of the shadows, his intentions clear and menacing. Fear gripped her, and she tried to run, but he grabbed her, pulling her into a struggle for her life. In the chaos, her hand found a heavy stone on the ground. Driven by a primal instinct to survive, she swung it with all her might. The man crumpled to the ground, lifeless. Samantha stood there, panting, staring at what she had done. Shock and terror should have consumed her, but instead, a strange sensation washed over her—a dark thrill she had never felt before. She hurried home, her mind racing, her heart pounding with a mix of fear and exhilaration. Days passed, and the incident was reported as an unsolved case of self-defense. The town mourned the tragedy, but life went on. For Samantha, though, something had changed. The thrill of that night lingered, a shadow that tainted her once peaceful mind. One afternoon, as she tended to her garden, a stray cat wandered in. It was a beautiful creature, sleek and curious. Samantha reached out to pet it, but her hand trembled. The memory of the man’s lifeless eyes flashed before her. Without thinking, she grabbed the cat by its neck and squeezed. The animal struggled briefly before going limp. A rush of power surged through her veins, more potent than anything she had ever felt. She buried the cat in her garden, her hands shaking not with fear, but with excitement. Over the next weeks, Samantha found herself drawn to the woods at the edge of town. There, she began hunting small animals—rabbits, birds, anything she could catch. Each kill brought that same dark satisfaction, the rush that now consumed her. Her behavior grew more erratic. She distanced herself from friends and family, her once bright eyes now shadowed by a sinister gleam. Her garden, once a place of beauty, became a graveyard for her macabre trophies. The townspeople noticed the change in Samantha, whispering about her strange behavior. But in a town where everyone knew each other, suspicion was slow to take root. They still saw her as the quiet, shy girl they had always known. One evening, Samantha's mother found a small, bloodstained knife in her room. Confronting her, she saw the madness in her daughter’s eyes. Realization dawned, and fear gripped her heart. But before she could react, Samantha lunged, the thrill of the hunt now seeking human prey. The town would never be the same. Samantha was no longer the innocent girl they thought they knew. She had tasted the darkness within her, and it had consumed her entirely.
