Episode One
Claire’s POV
I lay on the cold, damp ground, struggling to breathe. My clothes were torn and dirty, and I could feel the cold of the earth creeping into my bones. The pain inside me was overwhelming, like someone was tearing me apart from the inside out. I felt empty, I have been rejected by someone I loved and trusted. The hurt was so intense that it was hard for me to think clearly.
My hands shook uncontrollably as I held onto my chest, trying to stop the pain I was going through, but it was no use. The pain just kept getting worse, until I felt like I was going to break apart. Even with the pain I was going through, which I really don't care about because of my view, all I could see was what was in front of me, a sight that made my heart feel like it was shattering into a million pieces.
Alpha Ethan, the man I had loved, the mate the Moon Goddess had chosen for me, stood tall with a smirk on his lips, and beside him… she stood there smiling and happy to see me in pain.
Serena, his ex-lover.
Her hands rested on her swollen belly, a grin playing on her lips as Ethan leaned down and kissed her, right in front of me. My stomach twisted violently, the bond was broken, yet the pain of betrayal still cut deep through me, my body, my heart, my very being still longed for him, even as he mocked me with the woman who now carried his child.
“Know this Claire, you are nothing to me, you barren woman, you are too weak to be my Luna and I never loved you and never would I love you, slave, “ Ethan said mocking me.
I squeezed my hands into tight fists, pressing them against the wet ground full of my tears, my nails dug into my palms, hurting me. I felt a strong anger rising up inside me, mixing with my pain, but this anger was so strong that it felt like it was going to take over and control me completely. I had given Ethan everything, my loyalty, my love, my very soul and yet, this was how he repaid me? By flaunting her, an ex_lover who he told me would never come in between us, proving to me that I was disposable? And I meant nothing to him other than the fact that I was a slave.
My lips trembled and found it difficult to put my words together, but I forced my words out, my voice hoarse but laced with anger.
“You never even touched me, you barely do, “the words came out, my tone filled with anger.
Ethan barely acknowledged me, his blue eyes were cold, void of any emotion. “And I never wanted to, the few times I have felt demeaning, I was irritated stooping so low to lay beside you Slave, “He said, irritated.
His words struck like a blade to my chest, I inhaled sharply, humiliated, he repeatedly called me a slave, after years of being with him, he had just realized I was a slave before I was chosen by the moon goddess as his fated mate.
“You were nothing more than a burden,” he continued, his tone cruel. “A barren she-wolf like you? What use would you ever be to the pack, “he added to several insults and names he had called me earlier.
The words echoed in my head like a death sentence, barren, useless, and a failure and slave.
I wasn’t sure when the tears dropped down my cheeks again, but I quickly wiped it, I would not cry in front of him again, I would not give him the satisfaction of seeing me breakdown, I will be strong, and be determined.
Ethan turned to his guards, his voice firm. “Get rid of her this minute, “He commands.
I barely had time to process his command before rough hands grabbed me.
“No! “I screamed.
The rejection and bond breaking had taken all my energy, leaving me so weak that I could hardly stand up, I was definitely not strong enough to fight back. The guards grabbed my wrists and twisted them behind my back, which hurt my arms and legs, they dragged me away, and I felt even more pain as they didn't stop.
Even though I was in a very difficult situation, I refused to ask for help or show weakness, the guards dragged me through the dirty ground, and the people from Ethan's pack laughed and made fun of me. I thought they loved me but I was wrong all along. But I still kept my head held high and won't give up, but the moment we reached the pack’s border, everything changed.
A sudden, sharp blow landed against my ribs, then another, and another, my body folded instinctively as I gasped, struggling to protect myself, the guards laughed cruelly, their fists striking with no mercy.
I tasted blood.
The pain turned into numbness, and by the time they finally tossed me onto the damp ground outside the pack’s border, I could barely move.
The last thing I saw before the heavy packhouse doors slammed shut was Serena standing in the doorway, watching me with a victorious smirk.
And then, in silence, I was the only one left outside the border. I lay there for a long moment, my breath dropping, my body bruised from the heavy blow, I could not think and my mind was blank.
Where would I go, “I thought.
They had taken everything, my place, my home, my future, He didn't even let me take a single belonging, now this is my new reality, I was brought down to nothing.
I lay there on the cold ground, as the cold wind blew through the trees, making me shiver, then a thought came into my head, “I need to survive for me to revenge everything Ethan and Serena did to me, I forced myself to stand up, even though my legs felt weak and unsteady, my body hurt all over, but I knew I couldn't stay there, I had to keep moving if I want to survive.
I took a step forward, then another, trying not to fall from my shaky legs. Everything around me looked scary, but I kept going. The forest in front of me was getting darker and scarier, but I had no other choice, I had to keep moving if I wanted to pay Ethan's back.
Then I took a deep breath after walking a little and my shaking legs were slowing me down, and let my body shift into my wolf. My bones cracked and moved, and I felt a lot of pain but the pain in my heart was much worse.
As I shifted I could hear my wolf trying to comfort me. I could feel its presence in my mind, speaking softly, my fur stood up, and I felt a surge of energy, a renewal of power, I ran and wouldn't stop even when my wolf was trying to speak to me again, even when I felt she was trying to stop me, I resisted her warning and kept on running.
I didn’t care where I was going, and obviously had no insight of where I was going, I just wanted to escape, I wanted to arrive at a place where I can be safe from Ethan, Serena and the wicked pack members.
Suddenly, a noise broke the silence of the forest, a low growl, then it got louder, I stopped moving, my ears stood up, and I turned my head to find out where the growl was coming from, my breath got stuck in my throat as my glowing yellow eyes met a group of figures coming out of the darkness.
“The Rogues.
The Rogues were snarling loudly, their eyes shining with hunger. It was then that I realized I'm in their territory, I had crossed the border and was no longer in my pack's territory, I'm now in the Rogues' territory.
I know I can't hide away because their job is to hunt and the best thing to do is to run but I can't run without alerting them.
“Would I die before my revenge, “ I sneered.
