♕ A N T O N I A P O V ♕ I looked around to see if Walid was here. But, he was nowhere to be. Should I go up to her? I took a deep breath and released it; I took a step closer to her. With each step I took, my nervousness increased. No, I should not go up to her. They have nothing left for me in their life. Why should I bother to ask if they are doing fine? They never bothered to see if I was still alive or dead. Why do I care? Why do I have a feeling that I will see Rachel here but not Walid? What is right about that? I feel that something good is going to happen. But what? I will go up to her. I am not going low as her. As I was about to walk up to her, a hand grabbed my shoulder, stopping me from going up to Rachel. I turned around with a raised eyebrow. It was a woman that had grabbed my shoulder. Her hair was long, and she had blue eyes. She was wearing a blue V-neck shirt with black pants. She looked familiar, but I could not seem to figure out who she was — the eyes. The hair- then it hit me. "Cruz? Is that you?" I squealed with excitement. "No! I am Jake from the State Farm. Of course, it's me," she stated in a duh tone. I pulled her into a hug, "I missed you so much. Where have you been all these years?" "Can you like, not hug me that tight? You're suffocating me," she mumbled, trying to catch a breath. "Sorry. How have you been? What happened to you? I mean, after you moved, you forgot about me," I teased, pinching her shoulder. "Me? What about you? You have not been contacting me for the past 20 years. What happened to you? Forgot about my life story; tell me how you and Mr. Walid Khan doing?" She winked. "Cruz, there are many things that happened in my past that you don't know. So many things happened to me. It's a long story," I sighed. The point when she asked about the life that has left for a long time made my heart stop. I wish this would not have happened to me. Cruz and Chris do not know anything yet. I kept my secret from the world. If one word of this information goes out, then the media will not stop bothering me, but that will never happen. I will never let him get back in my or Omar's life. Talking about Omar, he forgot about his father. He forgot all of his father's features. That is because he had burned all the pictures of his father and wished never to see him again. He does not even want to talk about him. "I have time for your long story, Antonia," Cruz said. "Cruz, this is not the right time or place to tell you about this. I promise you that I will tell you when the time is right. Now, mind telling me what are you doing here?" I raised my eyebrow. "Can't believe that I am saying this, but I work here for the i***t," She sighed. "Heard that," came a deep voice. I looked behind Cruz to see Chris walking this way. He had his usual smirk. The best thing was that he was wearing jeans and a shirt. What kind of boss wears that to work? He should dress up more professionally. He is the CEO of this company. "What are you doing here? Shouldn't you be doing something like bringing my coffee and not gossip around?" He demanded. "Look here; you jackass, don't demand me. You can yell the hell out of your other employees. Bark, growl, scream, and order at them, but not me," Cruz shattered, narrowing her eyes at him. "This is not the way to talk to your boss unless you want me to make you do the same thing that I made you do yesterday," He smirked. "You know what, Chris, suck my as*" She expressed her anger towards him. "Baby, I would love to. Just tell me when and where" Chris winked. "Ugg you so...." "Irresistible, handsome, sexy. I know," Chris smirked. "You are a jerk, infuriating, bastard, a jackass an-" "I wouldn't go their Kitten," Chris warned. Woah! What was that? Chris calling Cruz 'Kitten'. What a surprise! I cleared my throat to get their attention. Chris and Cruz stopped arguing. However, Cruz was debating on and on. Anyway, they turned around and looked at me. I crossed my hand over my chest and raised my eyebrow. "Mind telling me what the hell is going on? You people are acting like a married couple fighting. What is the matter with you two? I feel like I am missing something. Am I?" I raised my eyebrows. "Why don't we go to my cabin and talk about it," He suggested. "I rather not. I already have to deal with you every day; it's best that I don't go with you. I should not be breathing the same air as you. Your breath stinks like billions of sh*ts," Cruz barked. OUCH! "I am tired of you disrespecting me. I will deal with you later," Chris gritted his teeth together. "Guys! I am a busy woman. I don't have time for this childish game or behavior, whatever you call it," I sighed, running my hand down my face. "Yeah, Cruz! Stop acting like a child," Christian mocked. "You are so-" "Jeez, you two. Can you two stop this stupid fight? Can you? You two are grown adults, so start acting like one. We are not in high school anymore; we are professionals. Now, can we please go inside and start with whatever Chris wanted to talk to me about," I mentioned. We walked up to his office. I was behind them because I didn't want to be in the middle of their colorful word battle. I watched them as they argued. Why are they behaving like this? Chris opened the door and walked in. "What a gentleman!" Cruz mumbled. I held back my laughter. Cruz has not changed a single bit-old snappy and grumpy as always. I walked in and sat down on the chair. In front of me was a table, and I crossed my legs and looked at them, who were still giving each other the death glare. Wow! It was intense in this room. I faked a cough, which got their attention. They looked at me. "So?" I asked, hoping that they would talk soon. "So, what?" Chris spoke. "Oh, god! What the story behind all this hatred and argument. Why does Cruz look like she is about to murder you to death? How did you two end up like this?" I eagerly questioned to know what happened. "It all started with a football game," Chris laughed. "Game?" I asked, looking confused. "Well we were watching football and-" "Don't need to explain. I got everything. You guys were watching a match and bet on who would win and who would lose. You won because you knew the match like the back of your head. However, before Cruz could know, you made her sign a contract, and she signed it without reading it because she wanted to kill you right there for winning the bet. After she signed it, she found it, but it was too late. Typical Cruz," I laughed. "Hello, I am right here. You know?" Cruz threw her hands up in frustration. "How in the world do you know all this?" Chris asked. "Oh, come on, Chris. I am her best friend. I know her more than you do. I am like her blood-related sister," I smirked. "WOW! Damn! Okay then. So yeah. Now, this is what happened. Now she is blaming me for this. I mean, it's not my fault that she didn't read the paper before signing it," Chris smirked. "Okay, now that this is out of the way, why do you want to talk? You called my secretary at 5 in the morning. Thank the lord that she was in a happy mood, or else she would have had my head," I shook my head. "Are you serious? I mean, you're the boss here, Antonia," Cruz gasped. "Yeah, I know that but dealing with pregnant women. Ya Allah! Now I know why Khalid bro would always complain. Especially when the women are on their mood swings. You do not want to deal with a mood swing, pregnant woman. It feels like they are going to suffocate you," I laughed. "Anyway, now back to business. What the hell is going on?" Chris asked. "What? What are you talking about?" I asked, looking confused. He got up, walked toward the standing table, and grabbed the newspaper. He threw it towards me. I looked at him with a frown on my face. I turned back to the paper and picked it up. I looked at the headline and stood up quickly. I looked at the headline repeatedly. I could not describe what I was feeling right now. The headline was Mr. Walid Khan Is Coming Back to Paris to Get His Wife Back. What is going on? Why would he say something like this to the media? He knows if the media knew about this, they would never leave me alone. Who does he think he is? If he feels that coming back to my life will be that easy, then he is so wrong. I have to do something right away!
