Back in the restaurant – Leyla glared at Edward. She leaned forward and, with her fists clenched at her sides, said, "You are putting pressure on Elliot. Why? Why are you forcing him to postpone filming for a month?" She had already guessed the reason, but she refused to believe it. Edward smiled and shrugged indifferently as if to say: What of it? It's my money to do with as I please. Edward stood up to leave, but Leyla grabbed his arm and said, "Edward, I am your fiancée. Why are you doing this to me?" Edward seemed to hear something funny about what she'd said, and he sneered. "Leyla," he said, "You keep saying that you are my fiancé, but when did I ask you to marry me?" Leyla's face turned white. "Y-Your g-g-grandpa s-said that we…." Leyla stammered. Edward pushed Leyla's hand away. "If it wasn't for your family's graciousness attitude toward my grandpa, do you think I would have agreed to your father's request?" he asked. "Don't forget, the three-year contract is coming to an end soon. I hope you will give me a little peace at this time. Otherwise, I have no problem ruining the agreement!" As Edward walked away, Leyla fell to the ground. She expected that Edward would look back, but he did not – and once he was gone, she scrambled to her feet and ran out of the restaurant to where Bruce was waiting with the white Bentley. When he saw her, he gave her a stern look and asked if she wanted him to inform her parents. When Leyla didn't reply, Bruce hugged her and helped her into the car.   **********   Cosette stayed at the hospital all day. Initially, she had planned to stay at the hospital with Stuart during the night, but Stuart didn't want her to stay. He said, "You have been with me all day. You should go home and rest." Cosette: "I worry about you." Stuart: "In this life, it's enough to be stupid once. I won't do it a second time. Anyway, there are doctors and nurses on duty at night. You can rest assured that nothing will happen. Besides, if you stay here, I won't get any sleep." Cosette pretended to be unhappy. "Are you tired of me?" she asked. Stuart: "I'm afraid that you'll come to dislike me if you are around me for too long, and I'm still waiting for you to find a brother-in-law for me. If you're not tired at night, you should go out and find a handsome guy to talk about love with." Cosette laughed and said, "I am still in my early twenties. I have lots of time for love." Stuart laughed and said, "Don't be too cocky. You know what they say: Time is a cruel mistress, it waits for no man or woman, and it flies! If you don't act soon, before you know it, you'll be an old crone and a spinster." "Bah!" Cosette laughed. "That'll never happen to me. I'll have you know, I plan on keeping my looks!" Cosette and Stuart chatted until it was time to go, and after saying goodbye, she checked in with the attending doctor to make sure that Stuart's condition was stable. And then she went outside to catch a taxi. Once Cosette was in the car, the driver asked her where they were going, and Cosette gave him the address - and it wasn't long before she was home. After paying the fare, Cosette got out of the car and approached the front door. She put her key in the lock on the door, and much to her dismay, it wouldn't turn. She tried it a few more times, and still, she couldn't open the door. Just then, the landlord came around the corner, and when she saw her, he greeted her, saying, "Oh, hi, Cosette, you're back." Cosette frowned when she realized that the landlord had been waiting for her, and she said, "What's going on? Why won't the door open?" The landlord looked at Cosette with embarrassment and said, "Cosette, I'm so sorry. I'm afraid you can't live in this house anymore." "Why not?" Cosette asked. The landlord gave her an awkward look and said, "It is what it is, Cosette." Cosette sighed and said, "Can I at least have some time to pack my things?" The landlord took five hundred dollars out of her purse and handed it to Cosette. "Here is your Damage Deposit," she said. "Someone already packed and removed your things. I'm sorry." "It's okay," Cosette said. "I should be the one who's sorry. Keep the money." And then Cosette turned and walked away. Once she was outside, she took out her mobile phone to call Edward. Unfortunately, after dialing the number, a mechanical female voice came from the phone. It said, "The phone you dialed has been turned off." Cosette called again and again, but the results were the same. Finally, she gave up and took a taxi back to the Lago Apartment. When she arrived, she saw Edward's silver Maybach in the garage, and her eyes brightened. She approached the front door, walked in without knocking, and was about to go upstairs when Rossie came out of the kitchen. "Cosette!" she exclaimed. "You're back!" Cosette: "Where's Edward?" Rossie: "Edward came back earlier, but Earl came to pick him up. Edward left on a business trip." Cosette: "Business trip? That must be why his phone is off: he's on an airplane!" Rossie: "Cosette, are you alright?" Cosette: "Yeah, I'm fine. I'm going to take a shower." Rossie: "What do you want to eat?" Cosette: "Whatever you cook is fine." Rossie: "Okay. Go and enjoy your shower." When Cosette opened the door to her huge room, her heart was filled with sadness. She could still smell Edward's unique scent in the room, but without him in it, it was cold and lonely. She went to the wardrobe, opened it, and ran her hand through the clothes. There was a lot of clothing here – something for every season, and Edward had bought it all for her. Cosette selected a nightgown and carried it into the bathroom. By the time she'd finished taking a shower, Rossie had finished preparing dinner for her. She called to her from the kitchen: "Cosette. Dinner is ready. Do you want to eat in the bedroom or dining room?" Cosette put down the towel that was in her hand, saying, "I'll eat in the dining room." Rossie laughed. After drying her hair, Cosette went downstairs. There was a bowl of noodles on the table. Rossie knew what Cosette liked, and it made her happy to cater to her. Cosette sat down and said to Rossie, "Rossie, sit down and eat with me." Rossie: "Oh, no, it would not be suitable. I work here, and you are the Lady of the House." Cosette: "It's okay. It's boring to sit here and eat alone. Would you please accompany me?" Rossie hesitated, and then sat down. After eating a few bites of her supper. Cosette looked up at Rossie and asked her if she knew when Edward would be back. "He didn't say," Rossie replied, "but he is usually back within three days, and he is seldom gone for longer than a week. Of course, if you miss him, you can call him." Cosette felt embarrassed by what Rossie had said, and her cheeks turned red. "I don't miss him," she muttered. Rossie smiled knowingly and said, "I am sure that is the case. How silly of me to suggest otherwise."
